I currently have my mother in Caring Hands and she likes it and I feel very happy with the choice. It is a small residential home that has a maximum capacity of about 15 residents, both in private and semi-private rooms, and mostly women. Because it’s smaller, it feels homey and most of the staff have been there for a long time. We visited it initially three times before we committed, and never came announced. Always clean, and the meals were prepared from very fresh ingredients, all cooked on site. My mother needs help with transferring, bathing, dressing, and other personal things as she is generally in a wheelchair. They have a call button for assistance, and the ratio of staff to residents seems good. We’ve been very pleased with healthcare also – they have a doctor who comes regularly to check on everyone, and who will stop by for any issue a resident might have. They immediately arrange the right care, from hospitalization, therapy, or just a prescription, and are good about keeping us in the loop. The place is owned by a couple and the wife is a registered nurse who is on site regularly to assure everything is okay. They’ve recently renovated the great room, kitchen and two of the bathrooms, and it really looks nice. Communication is excellent, the site itself is clean and pleasant smelling, and the food is prepared fresh at each meal with some customization. We like this so much better than some of the larger institutions that felt impersonal, and the pricing was better too.

My friend lived in Caring Hands Assisted Living for two months. The home was clean and always smelled nice, but it's best for people who have Alzheimer's that don't know about what's going on. If your mind is still sharp, there are no activities there. Nothing to do. They just put them in the living room in front of the T.V. all day. The food was OK, but they gave them very small portions and it's more like what you would see in a daycare. They give them little plastic cups to drink out of. I just felt like they lose some of their dignity there, but if you had a senior that had Alzheimer's and is not aware of what's going on, they get very good care that way. One of the main nurses was very, very abrupt and sharp with the residents. They had little tiny rooms.

terrible! I’m so disgusted with this place. Everything seems fine at first, that’s how they get your money! They forgot to give my loved one their medication, they never change her, they don’t come when called for an emergency, they are so rude.

Referrals from people that I go to church who said how good Caring Hands Senior Care Home was is what made my decision. Plus, it’s very close to where I live. My boss’ mother has been there for several years and other people I go to church with also have their parents there or previously there before they passed away. Everybody was awesome to deal with and the facility was very nice. I felt like it was at the right speed for my mom as far as what the other residents were like. There were a couple of semi-private rooms but most of the rooms were private and nicely arranged and decorated. They had a big living area with a large TV and a nice backyard with outdoor furniture and a gazebo so the residents could go outside and enjoy the weather. Everybody seemed very friendly with each other, and it felt very homey. I think it would be the best for my mom right now. She can stay there as long as she lives.

This facility is in a quiet neighborhood and it's close to neighborhood hospitals. The street that it's on is fairly busy, so there isn't much walking available. It is close to public transportation. This facility is out of a private residence, not a huge institution. This facility gives excellent care, and it is owned by a registered nurse. There is a screened patio area and a yard where the residents can walk around or plant flowers. The dining room is included in the great room area, so it's all one big open concept. This is a smaller facility so it only holds 8 residents. The facility has semi-private and private rooms and they're able to customize to their taste. The rooms are on the smaller side. The staff is very competent, knowledgeable, and caring. The owner is an RN-BSN with years of health care experience. They have happy hours every week, and the residents always rave about the food, and so do their families. The owner is from Baton Rouge and nothing they serve isn't tasty. I've tasted it. The residents do dominos, crafts, storytelling, card games, so there is quite a bit of engagement. They have a house call doctor service that comes to the facility. The families are always very well pleased. The residents are happy, and you can just tell that the staff and the residents just mesh. This facility is truly the residents' facility, and it is truly the residents' home. They have just gone above and beyond at this facility.

This is a small place that looks like a home and takes in a maximum of 8 people. The main plus is that the individual care is very good. The care staff is exceptional. It's hands-on care at all times, and everyone is very responsive. There's also a good ratio of staff to residents. The one downside is that the common areas are small, so it can feel a little crowded. It's located in a middle-class neighborhood near Hobby Airport. The rooms are homelike, and they allow residents to bring in their own furnishings and belongings. The food is very good, too. The staff prepare it, following a dietitian's menu. Activities are led by a part-time activities director and include outings, singing, and church services. One other thing to keep in mind: Most of the residents tend to be women.
