Oaktree Assisted Living is not a very big place. It only has about 30 people in it, but that makes it more like a family kind of setting. My father has met some people and there are activities planned throughout the week that he's engaged in and he's connected with folks. I think that's why it's a good fit for him because it's a good size and he doesn't feel overwhelmed with things. The staff is very warm, welcoming, and very personalized. They know him, and they know his likes for his food and things like that. It's very personal. He's almost like a family member. They're very friendly. There's nothing fancy about his room. It's not huge, but it is spacious. He's able to get around freely. We brought his essentials from here and put furniture in his room, so that kind of made him feel at home. He has a small kitchen area, a microwave, and a refrigerator. If he gets hungry, he can fix himself something to eat. He has stuff in the pantry and things like that. He has a walk-in shower that is convenient for him to use. It is very accommodating to his needs and it seems to fit just fine with what he needs right now. They have a lady that comes and helps them paint things and they have someone that comes and even cleans their eyeglasses and does haircuts. They play games about two or three times a week like bingo and dominoes. They have a gentleman that comes and plays the piano for them for entertainment. They have people that come and do devotionals for them once a week. There are lots of engaging type activities. They have once a month a peanut auction where they give them peanuts and they use them as money to buy little things. It might be just a box of Kleenex or something, but it's an engaging activity for them that he thoroughly enjoys. They're not perfect, but they're way up there. There's a nice man that comes in and transports him to his medical appointments. They are very professional and very engaging. He seems perfectly satisfied with the meals. There is a lot of variety, though it wouldn't be as good as home cooking. The facility is very well organized. I like the layout of it. Price-wise, it is within budget.

I looked at Oak Tree Assisted Living. The overall facilities and the upkeep looked okay. It was okay, clean, and nice. The buildings were good. The rooms were okay. I just didn't feel the happiness like when you walk into a place, you go, 'I like this. It's comfortable.' The staff members I met were very upbeat, nice, and helpful. The cleanliness of the facility was excellent. The rooms were okay. The room size was adequate; I didn't feel cramped in. They were on par like everybody else.

My mom has moved into Oaktree. So far, she seems to be flourishings there. They have very friendly and efficient staff members. Everything seems to be doing well for my mom. I managed to have one meal since she has moved in there, and the food is certainly meeting all of the standards that she has. They have activities like bible studies, exercise classes, and activities where they take the residents outside the place. Mom is not necessarily a participant with that because she has limited sight and some mobility issues, but I know she has gotten involved in a few of their activities. My mom has a large room. It is a very bright corner unit and it is also kept clean.

My mother-in-law is currently in Oak Tree assisted living facility. She's been there for about a week now. We decided to just place her in a facility like this instead of hiring a private nurse at home because the cost was going to be for what we needed; we wanted more time. We've decided that it would be better for her to be there since they have nurses or assistant nurses 24 hours a day. Basically, the time. One thing also that we chose this facility is it's close to our home so we can visit her anytime we want. What I like best about this community was the fact that everybody seems to be very helpful and willing to help, to do more than what just the brochure says. Everybody's really friendly. The place is really clean. My mother-in-law is happy being in this facility. I will absolutely recommend Oak Tree to others. So far it's been a good experience.
