My mom moved into Barcelona Assisted Living. It's a small facility. Therefore, they have very good care, as far as checking in on the patients, seeing how they're doing, and making sure that they're following their guidelines. The staff was very good. My mother was telling me about the things that she'd eaten, and she was pleased with the food. They haven't had any scheduled things like music programs or anything like that. But they make sure that my mom gets up in the morning and goes down to eat lunch or breakfast. They have a viewing room where they can watch movies. The living atmosphere is very pleasant.

We have already spoke with the Director, and we selected the Barcelona Assisted Living for my mom. We were given a very thorough tour. We were very pleased with what we found. The Director there is very, very professional and very accommodating for everything. She has been very good about having her phone line open for us to be able to access and keep her updated on what's going on. We have been very pleased. They offer mani-pedis and things like that. They also have outside visitors, such as musicians that come in and keep the place lively. They have a house doctor and a nurse practitioner assigned to that area.

It is a nice place. The staff is so nice. It's incredible. It's a lot smaller place. It's a really, really nice place, but it's really small. We liked it, and we ate lunch there. The food was wonderful. The community was really nice. The room that my father was looking at is a double room. It was a shared room. It had a single bed in it, and it was already furnished. They have a toilet in the room, but the bathroom is a community bathroom. They assist you when you take a bath or showers. If you really progress, then you have to have complete help. They have exercising. It looked like they play music. They do arts and crafts. They have make-your-own-pizza, and they seemed to really like that, the staff said. If they need constant care and need to be behind locked doors, it would be the perfect place because the staff love their job. That really makes the difference. If my father needed constant care and needed to be behind locked doors, I would go with that one in a heartbeat (but he doesn't need to be behind locked doors).
