I put down a deposit on Wilshire on 4th, and things are rolling along. My friend has a room and it's for memory care. It's a small facility. They have 16 rooms and they're all single rooms. It's one of the most affordable of the places that we talked to. They had a gathering room with a TV, and I saw several people there. It was 4:00, and there were several people in the dining room with activities at the time. The room was kind of small, but it's just one person in the room. It had a bathroom and a huge closet with a built-in dresser. The toilet and sink were in that area, but the shower was down the hall. Most falls happen in the shower, so there's always somebody in the shower with the residents. The lady who showed us around was very informative and asked lots of questions about the kind of care that my friend needed. They were open to everything that we needed. It was clean. Because it's a memory care place, the doors were locked. They have the licensing for locking the doors. They can't get out the door unless one of the staff members opens the door. They had the common area that was like a living room, and a common area that was like a dining room. There was a large backyard that I didn't really look at, but they mentioned that they take people out there and enjoy the sun.
