Brookdale Monterey said that my brother can't have a cellphone. That's very discouraging because he's gonna want to call his friends in Fort Worth, and he may want to call me sometimes. I really liked Brookdale except for that factor. The other thing was they don't have wi-fi for them to use. The rooms were great. The one they showed me had a private shower. My brother has two closets. It's going to be plenty big enough for us to fit his bed, his lift chair, and his shelf. I feel like the room was spacious enough that he's not going to be crowded in his room at all. Allison was absolutely wonderful, very sweet, very kind, and very caring. She spent all day with us until almost 6:00 at night. She didn't rush us. She showed us everything and explained everything in so much detail. As we were looking through the facility, questions would pop in my mind and no matter what question I came up with or how many I came up with, she was extremely patient with answering. By the time I left there, I had every question answered. I actually left there just so excited because I was so impressed with the whole thing. It was beautiful. They had two outdoor patios, and I liked the fact that it's entirely memory care. There's no assisted living and no independent living there. The entire facility is memory care, so I liked that. They had a lot of room. They could walk. There were community rooms. If I wanted to go there and bring a board game, there were tables where I could sit and play games with my brother. It was just beyond super nice. It's very, very spacious because the whole facility is memory care.

I visited the memory care area of Brookdale Monterey. It was excellent, very clean, smelled fresh, and very well managed. I felt it would be great if my mom had needed to be in that situation, but she is not at that level yet, she's higher functioning than the memory care that they had in there, but Alison was excellent. When we went, I couldn't get off from work till five, but she stayed and waited and took us on a tour and explained everything after hours. She was very, very nice and followed up a couple of times with me also.

Brookdale Monterey is a very nice facility. There was a resident volunteer who sat with us to answer all our questions. She also gave us the tour, and she was very nice.
