My friend has moved into Cedar Crest Senior Living of Lewisville. It was very nice. As soon as we walked in the door, they welcomed her. They tell her that they had been expecting her, and they were happy to meet her. They were very nice. They gave all of us the tour, we walked around, and we went to the dining room where they were having a little social happy hour thing. People were playing cards and eating cupcakes. I just had something to drink. She had a cupcake. It was between meals. But they have some little refreshments for the residents. I didn't eat anything. It was their happy hour. So, people were talking, and some were playing cards. That was kind of like a downtime before dinner. It's very clean and very nice. They have a garden area and benches outside. So, if someone wants to sit outside, they could. I haven't been to a lot of facilities like that. So, for me, it was a five compared to the place that she left. The staff was good, they were all very sweet. They were very nice, from the receptionist to the staff. The receptionist, when we walked in, they were very nice. We met the chef there because we were in the dining room, and the director introduced us to the chef. The layout was very nice, it is large. The halls are wide, not small. I guess if someone has a wheelchair or walker, they both could go down the hall at the same time. Nobody would have to stop and wait for one person to pass. It's only one story, so I didn't see an elevator, but it's just one story. It looked good. The staff in the garden was very nice. They're coming out of winter, but you can tell that it's a nice little area. I met the person who does the nails, I guess manicures, but she also works there. I think she's the activity person, that was nice. The administrator or CEO or whatever, she also participates. When I commented on some artwork, she said "I've worked with them to do that." So, she also works with the artworks class, she participates as well, she's not just in the office. It's a lot better, and it's not as expensive. I think she'll get more for her money there, even though the cost is less, there's more. The fact that they have a doctor on-site, I like that. That's their doctor that's assigned to that building or in that facility. Then they gave us information about her bio, so that means that somebody goes there. Maybe she doesn't have to go out to the doctor, unlike before. I did see an exercise room, then she mentioned they have bingo, and I think they mentioned physical ed too. There's another tenant that does gardening. They encourage their tenants to work or expand their talents. If someone wants to work with her, that's good. It kind of encourages them to continue with their lives instead of just being sedentary and just sitting in their rooms. They can go out, and if they want to garden, they can. Her niece mentioned that she participated in bingo or something. They have a library as well and they show movies. I saw a popcorn machine, that was great to see that. I just like to see them active if they're away from their families, just to keep everybody busy.

I went to tour Cedar Crest Senior Living of Lewisville. That was OK. I don't see any problem with living there. Based upon the price, I would say it was a good value. I interacted with a salesperson. She was very nice, very honest, and straightforward. She didn't try and con me into anything. There's nothing really wrong with the facility at all. The facility was fine. They had some activities for the residents. The dining room seemed to be adequate. It was relatively a small place compared to some of these bigger facilities. I was dealing mainly with my friend's daughter who was looking, too. She kind of pushed that one aside mainly because of the size of it, and the facility's ability to provide what my friend wanted. He is very fussy about his food and his meals, and so we wanted to make sure that he got to a place where they were going to cater to him and his diet. From what I remember on the menu, it was a decent menu, but it wasn't a lot of choices as I can recall. It was pretty much the same thing all week long, and then a few things would change out.
NOT MY MOMMA

We, my sister and I choose Cedar Crest of Lewisville after touring the facility. My mom was evaluated at her inpatient rehab facility, where they observed my mother with transfers and had a team meeting with PT OT and SPT. They were told she needed supervision with all mobility, she uses a 4 wheeled walker. She was only cleared for mechanical soft diet, and she is vision impaired. We set up her room, decorating and purchasing a mechanical bed, reclining lift chair and moved her furniture from her IL facility. Her first day went well, family was with her all day. She wanted someone to stay with her the first night, and I did. The communicated care plan(see above) was that she needed to be helped to the bathroom every 2 hours at night.(2 visits from Brianna and Stephanie who were wonderful, but the pendant system didn't work) That did not happen and I was glad I was there. We made the appropriate communication to the staff the next day and were promised it would happen. While the family was out of the facility, we got a text from mom that she needed HELP, she took herself to the bathroom, after pressing the pendant alarm, she got to the bathroom with her walker. tried to get her business taken care of, but with her limited mobility, limited eyesight and dependent gait, she didn't make it. We had to call the front desk to send someone. (THANK you Ms. Irma for helping her) by the time we arrived she had been cleaned, redressed, dirty laundry taken care of and was back in her chair. We requested communication from the director, assistant director and the front desk staff. This did not happen until my brother in law called.... .Suddenly we were promised hourly visits over night, and this did happen. However her daily care did not, because the pendant system didn't work and using the wall pull cords did not either(3+ hours and noone came and this was daytime, and only person we could find was the med tech Nicole who promised she would send someone) We made the decision to move her after less than 48 hours. Services were Overpromised and under delivered. She had to stay one more night (as I write this) and it is 4:35 am and we have had 1 yes 1 person come in to ask her if she needed to use the bathroom, and that was at 11:15... again glad I was able to stay. This is definitely not the level of care we were led to believe she would receive. Oh and the sprinkler head in the closet was still covered with the paper from the painting. The director told me it, "wasn't a violation, and that the water pressure, if the sprinkler were needed would push the paper off." I did have the opportunity to visit with several more able bodied residents and can see they are happy. Oh she played BINGO on Saturday and the activities director was super enthusiastic and mom won 2 games, and the caller was very consistent, and the cards worked for her vision impairment. She enjoyed the food, however the "non assigned" seating was not the reality and when she was placed at a table with another lady, the other residents, told her she was sitting in their place. Well she can't exactly get up and move.. Sorry for the rambling review, but DO NOT PUT your parent or loved one here unless they are very able bodied or you are able to stay with them .

My personal experience with Elmcroft of Vista Ridge wasn't great. I would not recommend them. Some of the staff members were very nice to my mother, but she's starting to get hard to deal with. They pressured me into putting her into a mental hospital, and I felt like she regressed health wise (and also mentally), after coming back from there. When she came back they refused to take her, and I wasn't impressed with that. The rooms were OK, but they had places that you would go that smelled like urine. The food was cafeteria type food. It's not like going to a restaurant, but it was decent. The dining area was elegant looking, bright, and open. They had church service and field trips.

We were impressed by Elmcroft of Vista Ridge, but we didn't like the level system of payment. The residents were in the game room, playing cards or dominoes. The staff was very professional and very informed about the place and happy to be there. They had a courtyard in the center of the building, and it looked OK.

Elmcroft of Vista Ridge was good. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was very friendly. They had a program that I really liked called, "Grant A Wish". They pick one resident and they grant their wish every month and they have this all up on the wall with pictures. One gentleman's wish was to go to a Ranger game, so they got him tickets and they escorted him to the game. I liked the director. She was so nice and so good to me.

We chose Elmcroft of Vista Ridge for my mom because of its location and its price. The staff members are very nice. I like most of the staff. They do have activities, but my mom doesn't participate in anything. My mom is not happy there at Elmcroft. It has a nursing home feel to it. The residents are not young or talkative. My mom hasn't made too many friends. My mom doesn't like the food at all compared to her old place. I have eaten there a lot of times and the food is below average. One time, a cold dish was served to her on a hot plate.

Elmcroft of Vista Ridge was a pretty good community and I am interested. I saw their apartments with a standard bedroom for guests. They provide a lot of activities. They had good staff on hand for administering medicines and other special needs. They had a checklist of things that my dad would need and they covered all of them, like nursing care, administering medicine, providing food, and offering a private room. All the amenities I was looking for are there and the price is good.

We visited Elmcroft. The place was kind of rundown. It didn’t meet our standards. They were very cordial and nice. However, we wondered about security because it seemed there was a lot of access to get out. The area that they had for the memory care section was extremely small. It just didn’t feel right. I think the room was a companion room. It was a nice-size room, but that’s about all I remember about it.

I really liked Elmcroft of Vista Ridge, and in a lot of ways, it's my favorite of the 4 places I visited. I think it was the director of the memory care unit who took me on my tour, and I can't even express how much I loved her because she was great. The facility was nice, and the grounds were nice. The location was convenient and easy to get to, but you didn't feel like you were in the middle of the city, and you felt like you had some privacy from being off the path a little bit. The dining room was really nice, and I was impressed with it. They let a couple of the residents clean tables to stay active, so I really like that. There were a few family members coming and going and the director knew all of them by name, and they knew her, so I was really impressed with that relationship. The rooms were nice, and they had lots of activities and stationary bikes for residents to get exercise on. I would highly recommend them.

Elmcroft of Vista Ridge was very nice. The price was good, and it seemed like they were willing to work with you. Their prices were affordable, and they were concerned that we can’t afford the price. The problem that we saw was we went on a Sunday, so there weren’t a lot of people walking around, but they told us that people go out on Sundays. The facility wasn’t full. They had food in-between meals available that we did get to taste, and it was really good. That wasn’t a meal, but food that they had available between meals. They had soup, we all got a bowl, and it was really good. It was nice enough and affordable. I’m thinking they would probably keep their price because they want you to stay, and they seemed to be concerned about people being able to afford it. We went to an activity, and it was supposed to be an ice-cream social which started at 3:00. We got there at about 3:20, there was no ice-cream. It was Bingo, and they were trying to get the residents to come to Bingo. But we thought that since they probably have this ice-cream social every weekend, they could have had their staff together and have the ice-cream ready for the residents. It was 3:20 already and they could have been in the middle of their ice-cream socials, so we just kind of wondered about the staff and if there was enough staff for everybody there.

Elmcroft of Vista Ridge was a very nice place. I liked that it was all-inclusive. The people were nice, and the ratio of the residents to the staff was good. They had a lot of activities. Each person had a little cubby right outside their door where they could put pictures, and I thought it was very nice because they made it so personal. They had homecooked oatmeal cookies that really looked and tasted like homemade cookies.

My father was at this facility and at first it was a great experience. Then it went to pieces. They claimed to take care of Alzheimer's patients, they did a very poor job at that time. The "Head Nurse" was awful and said one thing and did another. I see she is no longer there. Good!

We moved my father here in December of last year after rehab and I cannot say enough good things about this facility. The staff is very friendly, helpful and always conerned for the care of all their residents. I would defintley reccomened this place for your loved ones, I wouldn't have my father in any other place, I have peace of mind that when I leave my father he is very well taken care of and you cannot find this everywhere.

My mom has lived at this Assisted Living Facility for two years now. When she first moved here, it was Hearthstone. Then Elmcroft bought it and they have been doing an outstanding job of renovation! There has been almost a complete change in staff, all the way from the top down. I was pleased before but I must say, I am even happier now with all the many positive changes that have come about ever since Elmcroft has taken over! The head nurse, Faith, and her staff take EXCELLENT care of my mom! They are continually on top of any and every medical need she may have. I have a doctor/nurse come in to check mom every month. Faith and her staff stay in very good communication with my mom's doctor! They also have a great working relationship with the pharmacy. They call me with any emergency, question, or concern immediately! I also have to congratulate Elmcroft on their new chef, Heather! The food there is delicious! They served a wonderful Thanksgiving feast to all the residents and their families the Sunday before Thanksgiving! In addition, Rhonda does a superior job as the Healthy Lifestyles Director! She plans many fun activities for the residents and she makes sure they are present to enjoy them! She will go to my mom's room and ask her to join in on an activity, as my mom has dementia and would not know when and where to go! Gale and Jennifer at the front desk are very friendly and personable! The facility is always very clean and it smells great! Also, we family members receive a monthly newsletter and other communication to keep us informed about what is going on! They provide a beauty shop where my mom can get her hair done once/week. This makes my mom very happy! In addition, on Sunday mornings, wonderful people from my Catholic church at St. Ann's in Coppell, come and give any and all residents a communion service. My mom and I are so very pleased she has such a wonderful, warm, and inviting place to live! Thank you Greg and Von for doing such a great job! Thanks to all your staff as well! I highly recommend Elmcroft as a wonderful new home for your loved ones!

I have visited this community lately, and there is definitely a difference of night and day since Elmroft took over. The Wellness staff are the best and they provide such great care. They are puttting a lot of money into this building and have already started the complete "refurb". Althougth they are still in search of an Executive Director, they have someone from the Regional team covering the building until they hire for this position. When you walk into this community you can see how happy these residents and staff really are to live and work here.

This property is under a major renovation of building and staff. My Mom has been here a little over a year when it was under the Hearthstone name. My Mom is happy, has good friends here and good care. But, I would NOT recomend this property for a new resident. There is only a skeleton staff here. There is no resident director, no marking director and currently no guidance. The Nurse and the med staff are fantastic and this is one of the only reasons I have not moved my Mom out "yet". During the weekend it seems as if only a few care for the residents. There was no milk in the dining room today (they ran out yesterday) and the water cooler in the living area had cups but no water in the cooler. Hopefully this property will improve and will become a thriving community. It does have the potential!
