My mom has been at River Oaks for 2 months now. It is great. It is fabulous. The facilities are awesome. Even more important, the staff is totally wonderful. They’re very responsive, very dedicated, and very receptive to my mother’s needs. She is in a private room. It’s a nice size. She has her own bath -- e.g., bathroom with shower. They have daily activities, which they post. They also have newsletters that they send out and keep you informed. They have been very communicative. In fact, I was there last night because they had a Thanksgiving meal for the residents and their families. It’s a large crowd there, and it’s very nice. It’s very personable. They have a dining area and 2 living room areas. They have rooms where, if we went as a family and wanted to have a private party or meal, we could. Everything there is decorated extremely well, and it is very well taken care of. It’s a very beautiful place. They really work with you in terms of addressing your family member’s individual needs.

My Loved one lived there for a year recently. The facility itself could be great, has a lovely courtyard, but it's just not run well. Tho it's advertised as fine dining type meals, the food is not fresh with very high preservative/sodium levels. The activities listed as being available, really aren't due to shortage of staff. There is a "bistro" but it's only a general gathering place - there is no coffee - there's a machine but it's been broken for years. Most of the staff there are caring people but, again, I think the issues are with management. It's quite expensive and costs for the added 'care charge' for Assisted Living or Memory Care, are based on a point system that is difficult to understand. Once moved in, new points are added and price increases happen often. Weekly housekeeping option offered rarely is provided. There is Memory Care, but it's quite depressing. My advice is to keep looking - there are great places, even in Coppell, but I would pass on this one for now until they improve management.

I went to River Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care. I liked the assisted living area and didn't really care for the memory care. I thought it was just very dark in there. The folks that I met there were really very good. They're kind of locked away from the other folks, but they did say that they could intermingle sometimes depending on the person's ability who has memory care. I felt like folks that were working there were very, very supportive, very engaged, and it seemed like they had a lot more programs. They did have a lot of the engagement. For example: if you had someone who had been a cook, they can go to and pretend like they're cooking. It was probably my second choice. Everything was really very, very clean. We saw different areas where there were residents. There were two people in the library. They were sitting there and playing chess.

River Oaks is beautiful and brand new. It is luxurious almost. It also has a very nice layout. The people are wonderful. The staff is excellent. They have all the activities that all the other places have. The rooms are just as good. You get your own room, but you have options. It could either be a studio, a 1-bedroom, or a 2-bedroom.

Very disappointed, They do not have enough staff to care for the residents. Director and Nurse promise to follow throught and then do not. Medications are not given correctly. It is a nightmare to get the minimum of care. I would not place any family member here. I am currently working to move my family member.

We visited River Oaks. I thought their price was too high, but the facility was nice. It was newer and closer to me. The rooms were nice. They had a library and a salon. They had activities.

I have found a facility and my loved ones are already in. It's called River Oaks. The staff is extremely helpful. The rooms are very well laid out, and they are exactly what we were looking for. They are very, very accommodating. We ate there twice before we selected this facility. We came in both times unannounced, and we were delighted with the quantity and quality of the meals at both times. The dining room is what I expected because there are not a lot of memory care folks there, so it was laid out, and the service was superb. They have a scheduled morning and afternoon activity depending on whether they're in memory care or not. What impressed me most about this facility is the people and also because it is relatively new facility, so it is clean and well kept.

I visited River Oaks on and off for a couple of weeks. I thought they were very nice, and the food is good, but I thought they were understaffed. I didn't like that fact they will shower my mom every two to three days whereas the other facility will do it as often as you requested. They were helpful, but I just didn't feel that they have enough staff for the residents. The rooms and apartment are very clean. I wasn't there when they did bingo, but they were playing games with some balls, they hit the balloon with a fly swatter, and they read to them. Some of the activities were very nice. I just wasn't sure that it was the right place based on some of the things that I thought my mother needed. Also, I didn’t like the fact that they would only check on the residents every three or four hours every night. It is a nice facility, but I just felt they needed more staff.

My mother is really not doing that well, and she needs to be around friends, so my brother and I looked at a place up here in Coppell about three and a half miles from my house. So we ended up putting them there because it seems to make the most sense. It was reasonably priced, and it was just the right thing for them. It is fairly new -- about a year and a half old. It is called River Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care, and it is wonderful. They have their own little apartment. It looks like a hotel when you walk in. They deliver meals a couple of times a day, and they have five or six activities a day. They have exercise classes, bingo, cards, and arts and crafts. The people are just great. I think the people are really friendly. They have a lot of activities, they are close to their friends, and it is just a really good environment for them.

My mom and dad settle in River Oaks Assisted Living. Between the four facilities that we visited, this is the nicest facility for the money. They have services like medication, showers, change of clothes, and daily feeding. They have the best staff to people ratio, and it has the newest condition.
