About AutumnGrove Cottage - Copperfield - CLOSED in Houston, Texas

AutumnGrove Cottage™ is a sixteen resident, private-pay, assisted living home specializing in care for senior adults with Alzheimers disease and other dementia-related illnesses. To use an analogy, AutumnGrove Cottage™ is to the assisted living industry what a bed and breakfast is to the hotel industry. It is smaller, homelike in design and appearance, and personal. With only sixteen residents, the staff and families get to know each other in a very personal and intimate way.

We honor our families and proactively communicate and support them through this difficult time. We help families understand the importance of home care and hospice services allowing residents to live at AutumnGrove Cottage™ through end of life.

Our Difference: We honor the resident for the person that they are today, as well as who they were yesterday. We respect their dignity, optimize their individuality and focus on their remaining strengths and abilities. Everything we do centers around Alzheimers and memory care, from our building design, staffing requirements, to our training and education programs.

There are many aspects that make AutumnGrove Cottage™ a unique concept, but the two most important differences are design and focus.

Design From the moment you drive into the driveway, our cottage looks and feels like someones private home. This is one of the cornerstones in the AutumnGrove Cottage™ belief that people should be able to age in the same manner they are accustomed to living.

Focus Alzheimers and memory care is not something we do its ALL we do. Our caregivers are universal workers. They are responsible for every need of the resident throughout their day including grooming, bathing, activities, preparing and assisting with meals. Our caregivers get to know the residents preferences and provide more personalized care. Our staff-to-resident ratio is over two times higher than most traditional assisted living facilities.

I visited this facility

I went to visit Autumn Grove Copperfield Cottage. I like it because it was small, clean, and the staff seemed very caring. I wanted someplace small where they would be able to get to know my dad. They have like an activity director, they have games and things that they play with the residents, they have an outdoor courtyard that's secure so that was good. The dining area was great. Its location is far from my sister's, but it was what we could afford.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents are at Autumn Grove Cottage - Copperfield, and it's been wonderful. The staff is extremely caring, easy to communicate with, and happy to meet the individual needs of the clients. Because of the pandemic, I haven't been allowed inside, but the communication is wonderful. There are constant updates and whenever I have a question, they answer immediately. There's always somebody to reach out to for anything. It's an excellent value for the money. This facility is very loving and they treat the people there with kindness and love.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have always been impressed with the care given these mostly helpless residents. My 82 year old wife is totally dependent on the staff at AGC being so helpless due to Alzhimer's disease. I thank God for the existence of this outstanding facility.

I am a friend or relative of resident

When my mother left her home for Autumn Grove I thought she would live there for 6 months to a year. Thanks to the loving care she received she lived happily for four years. The caregivers are not only extremely competent but incredibly dedicated and loving. They treated my mother as if she was their own grandmother. It was comforting to know I could be sick or take a vacation. The facility director couldn't have been more helpful in every way from walking me through paperwork to making suggestions that made life easier for both my mother and me. The day my mother said "This is a beautiful place" I knew she felt like she was home.

I visited this facility

Autumn Grove is truly home away from home. Pretty and inviting. Comfortable with every detail built around what works best for the residents. Everyone is treated like part of the family. It's secure without feeling like a jail with beautiful grounds for them to enjoy out back. It's so nice to have piece of mind leaving your family in such loving and capable hands! I tell everyone who is looking for a place to have their family member come live in such a stressful time of their lives - everyone needs help and a place they can trust! I can't think of a better choice.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

This retirement home is incredibly unique. While most assisted living centers are large buildings with sometimes hundreds of guests, this facility only houses around 20 individuals. The AutumnGrove Cottages refers to itself as the "bed and breakfast" of assisted living centers and that is exactly what it is. From my experiences visiting a relative, you can see the personalized care and attention that every staff member gives its guests - they are treated with dignity and respect and not as another "number" in the facility. You can tell that all of the senior citizens that live there love where they are staying. The facility sets up different events that everyone can participate in and the daily happy hour is the most popular. The facility is extremely clean and the landscape is absolutely beautiful. Because this facility is smaller, the residents are able to interact with each other more and they get to know everyone which is extremely important, especially so they don't get lonely or feel overwhelmed. Overall this is a beautiful facility and I am extremely happy with it.
