I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife is staying at Metroplex Nursing and Rehabilitation, and it's not good. She's in a semi-private room, but she has to share a closet and the heat bothers her because the room is warm. The service is not that great. The staff is not bad, but they don't have enough to give the patients good care. She's engaged in physical therapy. The atmosphere is not great, but the food is adequate.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was at Metroplex Nursing Home. It was an old building. There wasn't much there. She had a private room because she was qualified for that during Medicare. She was there for 10 days but then she had to go to private pay, which was very expensive. My mom was very unhappy with the attendants on the medication. She wasn't getting what she felt that she should be getting. When she inquired about it, the nurse would tell her, 'Do you want it or not?' They would get annoyed because she would ask, 'What is it you're giving me?' They were rude. When she would go and tell the lady who was in charge, they said they would look into it, but she said that later the staff members would gather around and laugh. She felt that they were laughing at her. My mom would lose things in her room too. Her clothes were laundered and sometimes they wouldn't come back until two weeks later. She said she would get back and it was all faded like it had been rewashed and rewashed. Her mattress was lumpy. She said the food was so-so, but they served her on plastic cups. They brought in someone to entertain them. At one time, there was an Elvis impersonator. They had a Christmas party, and they did some singing. The rehab was terrible. They claimed they had rehab, but my mom said, 'I don't want any part of that here.' She got angry with the girl that did rehab because of her attitude.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I admitted my mother on 12/05/13 and it was the biggest mistake I made. The facility is aweful and the staff could care less of the patients. My mother was always dirty and her glasses were broke then lost, her wheelchair was also lost and even her bottom dentures. My mother wasnt being treated for a UTI and on 03/04/14 she was taken to the hospital with renal failure, septic shock and other medical problems. This facility almost killed her. I do not recommend this facility at all to no one.

I visited this facility

Whenever I visit the facility there are several employees available to speak to at the front desk. They are usually helpful and cordial. The sitting area at the main entrance is always clean and neat and free of odors. Occasionally there are strong offensive odors coming from a room or two on the hallways, but I guess this is to be expected. I always ask my family member who I am visiting if everyone is treating him well. He is speech impaired but usually seems to communicate that there has been no abuse. He has received physical rehabilitation from time to time, but I don't think it is consistent or very helpful to him as his condition has not really improved. The shared rooms are slightly small with a shared closet and restroom in each. There was a time when the room I was visiting in was not getting a vqery good cleaning. There was no debris on the floor but you could smell that it had not been mopped. On recent visits I have not noticed this.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My brother in law was a resident at Metroplex 8/08-2/12. He received very good care. He resided on the Secured unit and was always clean and the activites were support. My family and I attended the Resident's council. This group helped us understand the rules and regulation. Some families expect one-on-one and that is not the case. We would go back again if services for LTC are needed again. Thanks Metroplex!!!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father was a resident of this facility about 10 months prior to his death in Nov 2009 he had colon cancer and had a colostomy a prosedure were your bowl movements are out of a side of your stomach he also had an open wound due to a surgery that would not heal becouse he also had diabetes. the nurses of nurses helper at this facility have no empathy whatsoever for this people that many times are on the last stages of living often I found that my father bag from his colostomy was unchanged and when I would go to the front desk to request a change yopu could see in their face the way they would get mad at having to do this task.many times he also smell bad because they had not sponge bathe him. the last week of his life was probably the best he had at this facility only because hospise had taken over to manage his medication on his final days. had we not been so poor and had to rely on medicare I would defenetly never let him stay there on his final days.. horrible place to stay
