Forest Dale Apartments is laid out well. It's got friendly people, friendly staff, and is inexpensive. There's games like bingo and other activities. They have a library here, a computer room, a TV room, a work out room, and laundry rooms. They have efficiency, one-bedroom apartments, and two-bedroom apartments. I have a one-bedroom, and it's fine.

I haven't slept at Forest Dale Apartments yet, but I've already moved my stuff in. I'm just going down every day to unpack and get rid of a lot of stuff because it's a small apartment, but what I like the most about the place is the price. I'm only paying $910, utilities included. So, when you're sending anyone there, know that they are small apartments, the one-bedroom apartment I have is only 462 square feet, but it's just me, and so the price is right for me. They have elevators too, which is one of the main reasons I chose them. Then they have a laundry room on both floors, a game room, a fitness center, and community rooms. There are five entrances to the building and four of those have a ramp. The current owner just took over this place two months ago, and they're trying to redo a lot of the apartments because they said the management that was before left it rundown. So, they're still working on upgrading.

If you love being exposed to bed bugs, you will love Forest Dale. If you desire to be bit from head to toe with bed bugs, then by all means, rent an apartment here!!!!! Sure, effort is being made to address this situation, but when there is an infestation of the entire building, extreme and urgent methods are necessary. That's not what's happening. They may get around to it in a few days, ore weeks; but not immediately. Stay clear of this facility for you or your loved one!

Have to wait a year to get an apartment but the rent is cheap and no utility bills. Not fancy but it is clean and safe, especially for an older building. Office employees are helpful and maintenance fixes problems pretty fast. A security guard patrols the parking lots at night and is very nice. My mother has a lot of friends there and enjoys having her own apartment. Laundry room is convenient but could use a few more machines. They do not have a shuttle van or cafeteria but there is a shopping center nearby.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've lived at Forest Dale Apartments for 18 years, and have enjoyed it for more than the low cost that matches my low income. We are the best located senior facility in Dallas, hands down, with 4 grocers within walking distance and every other type of business or need within 2 or 3 blocks - most adjoining our block such as Wells Fargo Bank, Park Forest Library and Braum's - even a vet across the street (yes, we have pets); and a bus stop on our corner. What we have also is a building almost 48 years old. It takes a lot to keep it maintained, but you won't find many residents complaining. Overall, we find this place clean and safe with lots of security in cameras and/or guards. We also have a former disgruntled resident who loves to write awful reviews about us, causing a lot of unjustified trouble.

I visited this facility

The place is not being kept up. It has roaches and bugs. Rents have been raised significantly in the last 2 years, but basic repairs are being ignored. New dark carpet has been installed in the halls which has made them dark and depressing and making it difficult for older tenants to see. Simple requests for repairs are not being done and they used to be.

Concerned and frustrated.

Facility is falling apart. Management has failed to keep up basic standards of care in and around the complex. They are battling a problem with bed bugs and it seems that the treatment being used is not the recommended treatment according to the center for disease control standards and efforts have not been made to treat the common areas. The management continues to put its aging residents health at risk.

This place is notable mostly for its very low rates. There is a good and supportive community of older people, as well. The staff range from the moderately helpful to the moderately competent, with none being particularly outstanding but none being rude or horrible at their jobs. The maintenance man is usually willing to do odd jobs such as helping people move, for a fairly reasonable rate. They do allow payment by cash, check, or plastic, which is convenient for older people. One worry I had was that no nursing or housecleaning staff was available. Even a bulletin board with a list of reputable providers would have been helpful. Also, the building sprawls out, which can cause problems for older people with mobility problems, especially when it comes to the 10 minutes it takes even the young grandson to walk to the laundry room. There is, however, a charming tradition of an ongoing junk sale in the lobby, from which all of the residents frequently purchase furniture and dishes. I would recommend this place for people with generally good physical health who can take care of themselves fairly effectively. As long as you can handle your own affairs, it's not a bad place to live, even if the rooms are a bit small.
