I was in Park Place Manor, and it was good. It was clean. The people that took care of me were good. I told them if I ever had to go back into one, that's where I would go. The only thing I had a problem with was the food, but I talked to the head of the kitchen and told him, "You need to do something about this" and they started fixing it. I was ambulatory. They had people that couldn't get out of bed. They had people that were in wheelchairs and they took them to the dining room and they had to feed them. They had all levels of care there. They take great care of their people. They have some things they need to improve, but they are trying. When I told them that, the kitchen started being better, we started getting better food and the care started getting better. I was in the rehab center for about three weeks. When I got there, I was getting cold food. When I left, we were getting hot food. I talked to the director, I said, "You have to go in there and eat what we eat. You need to tell your people when we ask for a shower, then give us one." They put us on a schedule because of the fact that they had so many of us. Since COVID, healthcare professionals are quitting work, and our healthcare professionals are working 12-hour shifts. They are doing a very good job having to work 12-hour shifts. We had all kinds of activities. We had exercises, games, and movie nights. The girls would come down and get us for physical activities. They had a room that was set up and they made sure we did our physical activity every day. I was in there because of a fall and they would walk me and get me to where I could walk better. By the time I got out of there, I was walking really well. They are the cleanest rehab center around here. They give you great value for the money that you have to pay. I met a lady when I was there, and she'd been there for two years. She got a great value for the money she had to pay. When she went in, she couldn't walk. She was stuck in the bed and every place else was trying to take everything that she made. After that, she was up and walking, she could dress herself, and take care of herself. There were a couple of other ladies that were going home about the same time I was. They went in and they couldn't do anything. When they left, they were able to take care of themselves and they were going to go home to family. The girls that work with you want to see you get well and be able to move and take care of yourself. The nurses are the same, they want you to take care of yourself and be able to do things.

My husband was at Park Place Manor. It was excellent. The physical therapists were great. Nursing care was excellent. The food was not very good but I think that's true in just about all of them. The staff, they communicated very well. They were very caring about our concerns and the things that we needed and I appreciated that. Therapy was great but he was not offered any. I know there was an activity director but he was never offered anything else so far as activities.

Park Place has had a reputation as one of the best nursing facilities in Bell County which is why my daughter chose it for me. However, the glowing reviews and independent ratings were based on factors before 2022 when there were more CNAs and LVNs on staff who knew and cared about the residents. Since Jan. 1, 2022 the facility has been under new ownership and staff turnover has been high. Where before there had been 2-3 aides per hall there are now 1-2. The facility depends on agency nurses and aides to make up any shortages in staffing. While the permanent staff truly care for the residents, the agency people have shown a lack of care and concern for residents and for the standards and guidelines of Park Place. Also, a lack of staff means that I do not always get a twice weekly shower. This has happened at least four times in the last 4 months. On the positive side, the food is good and there is a varied menu. Every day there are activities available for any and all residents: church services, games, exercises and movies. The building is kept very clean and there is no odor either from urine or dirt or from overuse of cleaning products. Laundry is done on site and is delivered within a day to the resident.

My mother is at Park Place Manor in Belton and I have been highly impressed. I haven't been in the room to know anything other than the fact that she is content there. The only reason she is not wanting to stay there is because she wants to have more space for her things, but she is content at Park Place and not in a hurry to leave. This is our second rehab facility and I would say that the OT, PT and speech therapy are incredibly better than what we went through before in the summer. I'm very impressed with their rehab staff. She has not complained that the food does not taste good and she did that when she was in the other rehab facility. If she is dissatisfied, I would know. Anytime they adjust her medication, I get a phone call. She missed a chair and fell on her bottom, but she was fine. Even though she was fine, the nurse called me 20 minutes after to let me know that it happened. The communication that I've received from them has been leaps and bounds. I didn't have to call to address an issue with them. When she's with the other facility, I would have to call every single day for something that they weren't doing, something that they were supposed to be doing or wasn't done correctly. I haven't been in the facility enough to tell, but I guess it's good because if my mom did not like it, she would tell me. It's just hard right now with the Covid because she doesn't even get to go down in the dining room or maybe she does once a week. I think my mom is neutral about the food. She doesn't think it's the best food in the world, but it's apparently much better than hospital food.

The staff of Park Place Manor was wonderful, professional, and very helpful. The rooms were very small, but very clean. They have activities like bingo, church services, and birthday parties. They have a room designated for birthday parties and special events for the family.

Park Place Manor is extremely clean. No smell at all, like many of them have that urine smell. We were just very pleased. It's got a very good reputation around the area, too. The rooms are single, very clean, and have adequate space. I know they have games, a craft room that's open a couple of times a week for different activities, and they have different Bible studies and church services for different denominations. The facility has 6 wings, but the staff is assigned a wing, so she has the same people all the time, every day and every evening. The staff has been there for a long time and they get along well. They're very nice, knows all the patients, and the patients know the staff. They have residents' council that meets every month to talk about what's happening in the facility, the good and bad things, until they all have their input. They meet with family on a regular basis to make sure that we know what's going on. They're very easy to work with and they know what they're doing. They are very highly recommended.
