My husband is now with me at Trustwell Living of West Knoxville. We're settled down and he is having home health care physical therapy here. He is making progress and we're getting along pretty well. Our experience has been very good. The facilities are nice. We like our apartment. Of course, it is smaller than the house we moved out of, so that takes a little getting used to, but it's a nice place. And people who have come to visit us have commented on how nice it is. We're happy with it as things like this go. The staff members are very friendly and cooperative. Anything we've asked for help with, they've given us assistance. One thing that's going to be particularly helpful to us is that they have a gym. They have physical therapy here, but they don't take insurance. We're having home health care therapy, but my husband can use the equipment in the gym. They even have someone once a week who gives instructions on how to use the equipment down there if you're not a regular user, so that will be good. They have a theater, and we have movies 3 or 4 times a week. They have game nights, bingo, and birthdays monthly for everybody who has a birthday that month. We have a patio and sometimes they have outings out on the patio. They had an Easter egg hunt for your family's children. They have painting classes and jewelry-making classes. There's something almost every day. The dining area is nice and well-lit. It has lots of windows on both sides. The food is good. They have a special, for each meal, but they have a lot of alternatives. And we can also have breakfast at any meal if you want to have an omelet or French toast or something like that if you don't like what we're having. There's quite a choice on the menu. We're very happy. I wanted a stove, and the unit has a stove with an oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a garbage disposal. I wanted a balcony, and it has that, too. It just has a lot of stuff that some of the others hadn't had, so that kind of helped make up our minds here.

I ended up going with Prime West Knoxville. I'm in the process of moving in at this point, but I have signed a lease. The tour was extensive and comprehensive. We talked to residents, we talked to staff members, and the staff was uniformly positive and helpful and the residents were enthusiastic about it. They have an extremely low vacancy rating, which is a concrete sign of residents being content. There are washers and dryers in the units, and I thought they were well laid out. They have one- and two-bedroom apartments, and I got a one-bedroom. They have game areas, movie nights, a gym, walking, and wheeling club, they have a dog park for small dogs, they have several areas where you can gather to watch something on a screen, they have craft activities, and they have trips planned and tours to the local shops and groceries. The units have full kitchens.

We have found Prime West Knoxville for my parents. I have already rented a unit for them, so it's just a done deal. The reason why we chose them is that, basically they had the unit that we wanted, a two-bedroom, and it was convenient for me and my wife and my niece and nephew to have access to them. It's also a very new and very well-done facility. I didn't find anything I didn't like about the place. The people there are very nice and very accommodating. We also talked to a lot of the residents, and all the residents said that we would love the place there. It's very clean and very new. It was just exactly what we were looking for. They have a gym, a salon, and a game room. They got a hydroponic system there for the occupants, they have a theater, and the dining facilities looked very nice.

We went to Prime West Knoxville. It was great. The woman who gave us the tour was very excited about the place, she's been there since they opened. They have a lot of facilities inside and outside. They even have a putting green. They did have a, I wouldn't call a swimming pool, but it's one of those pools that you can either sit in or swim in, there's a treadmill in the pool. They call it an aquatic treadmill. You can take advantage of that. They have their own theater. We liked it. The apartments were beautiful, but the way that place had just been decorated was different. It was more industrial kind, in grays, and it was just not as warm feeling as the other place. The people that we talked with there seemed happy to be there. The people that were working there that we talked with were proud of what they did there. They have a big greenhouse thing, where they grow a lot of their food with hydroponics. It's pretty cool, we liked the place. They do have activities where you can go out, they have that putting green. They do allow pets in their apartment, so there's a place for the dog to get out in the same area where the greenhouse is, an enclosed place, a little dog park. This is probably second on the list. One of the things that they also said, is that they encourage people to come and spend a weekend or even a week in one of their extra rooms just to see what it feels like. It's a great idea.

Prime West Knoxville was brand new, and it was gorgeous. Even the floors were hard surface, which is easier to walk on or use a walker. They just didn't have adequate facilities for my dog, that's why I didn't choose them. They only offer independent living. The staff was very kind, friendly, and helpful. It's near shopping, and the grounds were beautiful. They even have a hydroponic garden on the grounds.
