My mother is now at NHC Place, Sumner. So far, it has been phenomenal. The staff are really, really nice, and they work with her so well because she didn't come as far in her recovery as what we were hoping, and what she thought she could. They've just worked with her every step of the way. Food is very good, I think it's good, and they have a wide variety of choices. They have an activities director, and she does the usual activities. She has the musical things, they have a theater, and she does game things. They also have the exercise program where they do like chair yoga, and they have a balance exercise group. They have enough for everybody. They have Bible study groups. They have things to keep them interested and busy. They have numerous outdoor areas like a courtyard, they have a movie theater, they have a game room, and they have a beautiful baby grand piano, and that's where they do their singing and their hymn singing. It's the staff that makes the whole place.

We toured NHC Place, Sumner assisted living. We liked it because it was close to family and stuff. The only thing mom didn't like was it was on the second-floor level and she's not comfortable with elevators. I told her it would be a while before she could get a room on the bottom floor, and the bottom floor was way more expensive than she would've been able to pay. The staff was friendly, nice, considerate, and very knowledgeable. She was in rehab at that same place, so we just kind of went from rehab to there over that afternoon when I went to see her. They offered 24-hour nursing care, laundry facility, cable, phone, three meals a day, and snacks.

NHC memory care and skilled nursing is just bad. I feel so awful for allowing her to stay there. She had a few falls in memory care and they forced me to allow her to go to skilled nursing to get therapy to help with balanced issues. Unfortunately she fell again the first night. She’s been there now for one week has been deemed a fall risk. So they make her sit in the hall way in a wheel chair all day. I’m not kidding 12 hours straight. They did not informed me this was the treatment. Once I figured it out because she is now in so much pain and getting much worse in regards to mobility. I told them I wanted her in her bed but they will not listen. I told them I’m willing to pay for a sitter again but it’s not allowed because of covid. I’m trying to arrange her to move to another facility memory care. Praying I can get this done before she becomes completely crippled. Pleas don’t do this to your mom. I just feel awful I let this happened.

NHC Place, Sumner was a good place in terms of the overall feel of it because it was new, very clean, and very inviting. The rooms were larger than most that I saw. The people I met were professional. The one thing that I didn't feel was their connection with the residents. It had a more institutional feeling and was more expensive than most places I've visited.
