My mother-in-law is in Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center. I love it. The food is delicious. I always taste it to make sure. The people are great. It's always the same nursing staff, so you get to know everybody. It's very good. She's just been admitted to the rehab side, so she has kind of a double hospital room. I don't know anything about the other rooms. They have tons of activities. They have people come in and play the piano. They have a big calendar of events. They have people come in and do church, and they have ice cream socials. It's clean. It's just a little dated. They've been great getting her up and making her do therapy and stuff like that.

The nurses and their helpers are very caring and hard-working. They did an excellent job of attending to the needs of my 96 year old mother who needs a lot of help. She has very poor balance and she never fell while there. She was there for rehabilitation. The cleaning employees were always working to keep the floors and rooms clean. There were many activities to keep the residents active. A church group visited every Sunday and played a video of their service. I was happy with all of the staff interactions I had while my mother was there.

My father-in-law was at Oakbrook Health & Rehabilitation Center for rehab after he came out of the hospital. We had a bad experience there. They did not take care of him like they should because they were short on nursing staff. They did not clean him like they were supposed to. It was just horrible, and I didn't like it. I would not put anybody that I love there again. If you are going to put your loved ones in there, make sure to go visit them every day. My father-in-law didn't eat the food there, so he didn't like it. The living atmosphere was all right. The facility itself was nice and clean, but it does not mean that they have good helpers. They should improve their communication. They were short-staffed, but the people that came to work should love what they are doing and should not come to work with an attitude.

My sister is currently awaiting an ICU bed due to medication overdoses at this facility. I had to call them about 10 times and threaten to call 911 my damn self. I knew my sister was altered. I am honestly wondering at this point if medication overdose is how they get rid of the residents who hold them to account. My sister has reported how some of the staff do not do anything and are lazy. 2 of the staff were heard laughing outside her room by me over her phone as she called out for help.

I would have given this place 4 stars a week before we attempted to check out, but as soon as they found out he was not going to be a permanent resident, his care fell off. they are very friendly until they know you are not staying, then my dad was washing his own clothes and drying them on chairs in the courtyard. He had juice boxes days old, from my previous visit on his stand, and despite me finding him sleeping, I was told they couldn't take things like that without his approval. That is crazy to me. I was spoiled, throw it out? When I left, I had two packs of papers, and after an hour meeting, I missed the nurse coming to his room with his prescriptions, crucial to have, since he had a stroke, and they told my aunt, who is feeble minded and was there solely for moral support, not me, the one they knew was his care provider to get them at the desk. She, again, sweet but mentally weak, asked me about the papers, I said, yes, I have them. When we realized upon returning home (it was an hour and a half away from me) they told me they could not call the prescription to a pharmacy, that they never did that and I should return for them. Trying to drive back in traffic would have taken me hours. They just did not care, about me or him. And this place is incredibly depressing. they are argumentative and do not take the blame for miscommunications. As his feeble minded sister said as we left, "My vet treats my dog better than that. And at least I know what my dog needs at the end of the visit. Abandon hope, all ye who enter here, is all I can say.

While the building may use some updates, the people are what makes it great. You can tell the staff really care, ibwould recommend this place for any of my family.

We visited Oakbrook Health & Rehab and it seemed to be great. I liked that it was secured and you had to be approved to get in.
