My mother is in Darlington Assisted Living Center I. We chose it because it's close to me and they accepted her even though she only has Social Security. I like it. It's nice. You can tell by looking at it they don't have a big budget, but it's very clean. The staff and the residents are the nicest people I've met. I like the overall atmosphere. I like going there myself. I think I got very lucky for putting my mother in there. I'm very thankful. They have a list of activities going on. They go for walks. They have crafts, workouts, meditation, word search puzzles, and cards, and they snack. They give them plenty to eat. They have a lot of good stuff. She likes the food. They've got a nice big dayroom there with comfortable couches and a big TV. A lot of residents just congregate around that dayroom area. I was impressed. When I call them on the phone, I like that they are familiar with my mother. I like them. Everyone I've dealt with has been very nice. I love the staff. My mother doesn't have a lot of money, so I'm grateful that they took her to a nice place like that.

Darlington was the one I liked the most, and my mother liked it also. The people and the facility itself were very nice. The food was excellent and very good. They take them on shopping trips, they have bingo, people come in for concerts, and people come in for prayer time.

Darlington was a very sweet place too. It was Victorian and very cute on the inside. Their living spaces were very sweet, and their dining room was very nice. And their living space -- right where their living room is -- has got three stairs, and they were wide stairs, but your senior citizens have got to know how to lift up their walkers if they use walkers on those stairs so that they don't fall, and so you really got to know how to manipulate that. It's really nice area and clean, it's Victorian and very cute, and the nurses were very nice. But the thing is they don't have skilled care for anybody who needs to have a little bit of skilled care. It is not called skilled care by the state, but they call it skilled care there -- which is not -- and they really need to check out the person before they say that that person needs skilled care. They don't have licenses to handle a few different things.

We like the personnel at Darlington; they seemed to be very good, and we had a Medicaid bed available for her. I give it very good marks; we’re very satisfied, and mom is satisfied with the food too. We were impressed by the people who work there; they were very good. Mom’s accommodation is spacious, we take her out ourselves, and we do most of the recreating for her but they do have shopping trips. I don’t have any complaints about it, and I would recommend the place.

The Darlington on Armistice is very clean. It's big and open. It's not a brand new building, but it’s great and they have activities there. They have a guy there that used to play the piano and it seems like people were happy there.
