My aunt moved into The Highlands on the East Side. The community itself is beautiful. It's very clean. So far, she's been there for like a week, so we've seen it very clean. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They supply very small appliances like a refrigerator and a microwave. They serve three meals a day. They have activities. They put a flyer on the door every day or whatever it is. And this thing is going on, a couple of things during the day. Off the top of my head, it was like sometimes they play cards and sometimes it's bingo. They have a flower group. They plant flowers in the yard. They go out to the store once a week, like different things.

The Highlands on the East Side was similar to the other place we went to. They use their own staff, they don't go outside for extra help. The rooms were a good size, we got a nice tour. They were having lunch while we were there, but we didn't eat. The patio area was nice, where they could sit outside and stuff. So I did like that facility. The staff was very nice. There was a nurse that did an assessment to see where my mother's cognitive level was and stuff, and that was helpful. Everything was very clean. I think the staff was interactive with the residents, and also with us as we were going through.

My aunt will be moving into The Highlands on the East Side. The tour was very good. Chloe took me around to all the places. We looked at three different types of rooms. The grounds are well-kept. The people were very friendly, and they have resident ambassadors, which I liked. They helped the new people to assimilate into the community, get them active, and help them make friends and things like that. I like that about them. They're right in the city, so they're close to everything, even the hospital. The 1 bedroom was very nicely sized with a walk-in closet. The studios are a decent size as well, but my aunt wanted a 1-bedroom. There are typical activities like at other assisted living places, but some of the residents were even doing their own type of classes. One guy was teaching other people how to use the computer. There were other places where people were reading together. There was a really nice outdoor patio. They have a library, a beauty salon, and a courtyard. Chloe is wonderful, she's the main person that we've been dealing with and she's even called to check up on how my aunt is doing in the hospital. I don't know the full layout of the facility because we only went down one hallway and up to the second floor. It looks pretty decent, and it's not too big. This place was easy to manage. The hallways were nice and there were elevators. They provide three meals a day.

My mom moved into The Highlands on the East Side. It's been great for her. She has a lot more things to do in her life now that she's there. And I feel much more confident that she is taken care of than before she moved in there. There's variety and nutritional value in the food. It's great value for your money.

My aunt and uncle moved into assisted living in The Highlands. When we went to visit, my uncle took us around, and I noticed how happy everyone seemed and how friendly all the caregivers were. The rooms were nice, pleasant, and roomy. I would say it is spacious, and it is more than enough room than they probably needed, so it was roomy for them. The dining room is very nice. I know they have a list of activities every day, but I'm not sure exactly what they have. My aunt has mentioned bingo and cards. Sometimes they have guests that come in to entertain them. It seems very safe and secured, but I don't know too much about it. They had a woman at the front desk, and they had a book for you to login. I would say the outside ground was very small. It would have been nicer if they had a larger yard or a larger area on the outside for the residents to enjoy.

I found The Highlands. It's wonderful. My sister has never been happier. She's taking much better care of herself. She cares about what she looks like again. It's like a wonderful, friendly hotel. They also have an Alzheimer's unit. They integrate well with the residents. They took her down to Foxwoods to gamble. That's a gambling place in the next state, so they took a trip down there. She and another group also went to another place here in Rhode Island. They have someone that they do word games with, and they do memory games, and they read to each other. Then they give them play money, and then they have auctions, and they can buy things with their play money. It's really quite interesting. She's so excited to be there. The maintenance person is a gem. He runs the staff well, and the staff is very, very helpful. It's a team that's working very well together.
