I liked the Middletown Home. They had a nice, beautiful outdoor courtyard that they just built. They have a beautiful chapel and they have a beautiful dining room. It's just a lot more beautiful than the facility my husband is at right now. They had skilled nursing but they didn't have a locked-down facility so we had to look somewhere else. My husband was there for rehab and I thought it was a really nice place, but I thought they were a little shorthanded. The food is better there though and they had more activities and parties. They had a lot for the residents to do. They had a salon, a workout room, and an outdoor place. My husband was there but they didn't have a locked-down facility and he was able to escape so we had to leave and place him somewhere else. It was very clean though and it was only 25 minutes away from me.

My mother-in-law was in Middletown Home for rehab. The rehab was not good. She came home very weak, and she's been doing much better having rehab in her own home. The person we had to work with the most was Allison; she was the person who communicated with us. She wasn't helpful, and I had to push her to do her job. There was not much communication. Because they had some COVID cases the food was not good. They served everything cold, and they couldn't heat anything up. She contracted COVID while she was there, and they wouldn't even give her water with a straw, because they wouldn't use cups that have straws in them. The therapists who were there were nice, and she had a couple of nurses who were very nice, but the overall experience was not helpful for her to get any better. She actually got worse while she was there; she's better being home. The entrance was nice. I sat in the lobby and that seemed nice, but we were not allowed in.

We visited The Middletown Home. I like the building itself, the people that were in there, and the cleanliness of the place. Everything was clean. Comparing it to other places, they have a significant amount of staff and you see them everywhere, which I like. Their staff has been there for years, which I think is a good thing too. I thought that the cafeteria and food types that they have was a good set-up. They have two different cafeterias. They have a wide variety of menu options. Overall, The Middletown Home was my favorite place.

The Middletown Home is a humongous complex with a lot of room to move around. It has a very likeable and caring staff and nice roomy apartments that they built to suit you. They also have continuing care there, so if you're sick and you live with somebody, and they want to go away, they can check you in there, and they'll watch you well. Whatever you need, it's right down the hall.
