The Willows of Living Branches stands out because of the attentiveness of the staff. At both times we were there, there was a meal, so they were gathered in the dining room, having their meal. A lot of them were conversing and dialoging with their neighbors and that was nice to see. They have a beautiful courtyard with a garden. They have church services for non-denominational on Sundays. They have a nice indoor birdcage-like all glass with lots of parakeets that the residents watch. I know that they have a variety of activities. They even were growing chicks when we were there, so the residents were able to watch them grow and hatch. I spoke with the chef, and he went over the menu with us. I was happy with the variety and options that they offer. They have a standard menu to choose from, and then they have a special. If you don't like the special, you can always ala carte it, which was nice because not everybody likes seafood that day, and so their menu options were plentiful. The community size was really good for a 92-year-old. It wasn't big, so there was a limit to the amount of walking you have to do. The character of the community was different than your average community because it was built in an old mansion. So, there was a lot of history and traditional-looking rooms and windows that gave it a lot of character.

I visited Dock Meadows. It was a nice place. The rooms were very clean and well-kept. But they required $1,250 application pay and a $5,000 entrance pay and I didn't like that although they say it was for doing the carpet and repainting of the room.

Residents are provided with many different activities to do through out the week. Events are both in the facility or a bus trip away. The staff takes very good care of their residents.

This is a smaller community which gives a feeling of welcome and being at home. From my visits I would say the atmosphere is very comfortable and there is a family feel between the staff and the residents. A particular visit which stands out, had me grinning as an aide and a resident were quite happily sharing a box of chocolates in a sitting area. It would have appeared they were old buddies. This facility is geared more toward those who need more basic assistance, however, if the need arises for more skilled nursing or memory help...one of it's sister facilities can be brought into action.I would highly recomment Dock Meadows.
