I toured Maplewood Estates. It's a very beautiful community. I did not eat there. It appears they're going to be building some more. They don't have a swimming pool but they do have some exercise rooms and stuff in their facility. They have two facilities. They have the old facility. They have the new sets of apartments, and then they have the cottages. They have a lot to offer. The staff dealt very well.

Just pulled a family member from here for a short stay for rehabilitation. During her stay she developed a urinary tract infection, and was also rushed to a hospital for a fall which caused brain bleeding all while she was in the bathroom under one on one supervision. I can only assume this was all due to neglect. If you love your family members you won't put them in a home, however, If you absolutely must - don't place them in the care of this facility.

The facility seems clean and well maintained however, if one requires more care than this was not the place to go. They don't have a full time doctor on board. Some people can't wait 2-3 days before they can see a doctor. My mother-in-law was sent there for rehab from Abington hospital in Lansdale. Once there she became progressively worse. No proactive measures were taken for her care. We took her out after a few days to go back to the hospital where she was placed in ICU. After a day or so she felt a little better. There was not much the hospital could do for her. She wanted to go home so we honored her wishes. She died after two days. Her heart became weak due to the valve closing. Could not generate enough oxygen without the help of a machine. She was 89.

Everybody there at Peter Becker seemed friendly. It’s clean, and they have everything going on and lots to do. The food seems to be OK, the apartments are OK, maybe the living room is a little bit small, but other than that, it’s OK. The rest of it was very nice. They have outside games, indoor things like art, concerts, and church.

Peter Becker is a nice community, but not a continuing care community. It is more sort of an a la carte deal. You pay for a certain set of things; that would not work for me, but it would work for others. The food is fine. I also felt like the residents were in an age group that would not work for me. They seem to be a little older; they seem happy and content. Their rooms were a little bit smaller compared to other places.

My neighbors had their mother at Peter Becker Community. When we walked in the door, it was very nice. They had a church right there in the foyer, which they also use for celebrations. So right in the front, if you ever went there to visit someone, there will always be something going on when you go in the door. One of the things that I didn't like was they had double rooms for people to stay in that were not as nice as they could have been. In other words, you have two people in one room, and that would not be fun to be in for me. They were quite small, too. The dining room was not very impressive. They had a lot of activities, and the day we were there they were having a really big celebration. I didn't pick it for my mother because I decided not to bring her to this area, but I'd probably pick a different one if I were picking it for myself. I think the staff has a very good imagination about what people would really like to be doing. In other words, when they were celebrating, they had people who were out there celebrating, just trying to have fun, and it was just a day like any other day probably for them.

Peter Becker is a very nice community, very attractive, and a comfortable place to live. They have lots of activities for the seniors. They are very involved with the YMCA. They get free services were they can use the YMCA quite a lot for the resident's activities. The food is good. The staff are very attentive to the needs of the elderly.

This community is far and wide top notch! Residents needs are addressed from the medical, social, and emotional directions. There is an upbeat feel to this place, and respect seems to be shown to the resident by all the staff during the times I visited. I was witness to one of the top Administrative people stopping to just sit and chat with a resident who was in a common area; he then offered to get up and go get her a refreshment so they could spend a little more time together. It is heartwarming to see a high positioned person take the time to reach out to this resident..as a friend...there was an ease in what I saw...not done out of obligation. This facility also holds Senior Expos and is known for their yearly events such a Flower Show. It seems the people feel included and can take great pride in being part of this caring and pristinely kept community!
