My husband is a disabled Veteran and after many strokes I had to get help caring for him. Hemfield Manor has been a blessing for us. The rooms are clean and my husband needs are handled fast. Food is good and if he needs help the aids are fast to help. I have been in a lot of nursing homes I would rate Hemfield one of the best. K nurses always pleasant and aids take good care of my husband. When I have wanted my questions answered the nurses and aids take time to answer me. My husband loves the aids and nurses that care for him. When he falls we get a call as soon as it happens.

My father was recently a patient here. He had terminal cancer & was there for end of life care. Every employee we encountered was absolutely fantastic, not only with my father but also with us, his family. They were more than attentive & were there for anything he needed but also whatever it was we needed. They went above & beyond for him & us & they made the heartbreaking situation of losing our father a little easier knowing he was in such amazing hands. There are no words to express our gratitude for what they did. You guys are amazing & again from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you. We will never forget what you did for him most importantly, but also for us.

My husband is in Hempfield Manor, but Allegheny Health Network is providing hospice care for him. It's very good care. He likes the food. The food has been good, and he gets three meals a day. He has difficulty walking, so they check on him constantly if he has to go to the bathroom. The staff is extremely caring about the residents. I have seen them with all the residents; they're very aware of their needs and they attend to them according to their needs.

My Aunt was brought to this facility with terminal cancer. During the last 3 days of her life, while I was present, I was completely blown away by the attentiveness and compassion shown by every single staff member we came in contact with. The staff relocated my Aunt's roommate so that we (3-4 family members) could we with her at all hours. Not only was my Aunt attended to every hour, the staff checked with us (the visitors) too. We were given a beverage and snack cart- hot coffee, tea, ice water, snack bars and crackers. We were given extra chairs so we could comfortably sit bedside. I witness every caregiver administering medication or attending any needs, address my Aunt directly and respectfully before preforming their duties- even at the end when she was unresponsive. The genuine concern for my Aunt and our family was remarkable and we cannot say enough about how glad we are that her remaining days were made so comfortable. Thank you for caring! We also saw therapy dogs making rounds inside the facility one day as well as a choir preforming.

Hempfield Manor is a disgrace. It looks promising when you first enter, but it all goes downhill from there. The staff's rude and inattentive to the patients' needs. One in particular (I won't mention her name, except that it begins with an "S" and ends with an "a") would rather stand around and socialize with co-workers than attend to my aunt's medical emergency (breathing complications); when she finally did show up, she checked her over for a few seconds and then left. I understand there are many residents and the place is probably short-staffed. However, their behavior and lack of concern is unacceptable. Not surprisingly, my aunt passed away during her residence at Hempfield Manor. She entered to rehabilitate from a minor stroke, was expected to recover, but died weeks later. Had she been taken care of in a better place, I don't doubt she'd still be with us today. To anyone considering placing a loved one in Hempfield Manor: how much regard do you have for that person? If you really love them, find somewhere else for them.

We were required to put my grandmother in the Hempfield Manor because her care became too difficult for our own family to undertake. Initially we were quite pleased when we met with the individuals who run the facility. The Hempfield Manor is quite clean and the staff are all friendly and very accommodating. My grandmother seems to be quite pleased with her stay at this facility and I would recommend it to others who are in similar situations. It costs somewhere around $2,000 a month for my grandmother to live in her assisted living facility at the Hempfield Manor which is quite reasonable and on par with other facilities in the region. We looked at other assisted living facilities in the region but this one proved to be the most bang for the buck so to speak. Nobody wants to put a loved one in a facility and take them out of their own home and their own care, but it really was the best solution to giving my grandmother the best care possible. I still get to visit her quite often and I feel comfortable knowing that she is getting such great care.

In regards to my grandmother especially, I feel the doctor there caused her to have medical complications that aided in her death. One day she was going to a local hospital for a CT scan of her back and they gave her morphine. A few days later my grandmother had a massive heart attack and slipped into a coma. Two days later she was taken off life support. I know she wasn't in the best of health, but giving an elderly lady in my grandmother's condition morphine was not acceptable.

My Mother was here for the last few years of her life. She was treated with dignity and love during her stay. I have since recommended this facility to other friends who were in search of an assisted living facility for their Mom's and I've received nothing but good reports from these friends also. My Mother passed here at Hempfield Manor but she was definately not alone. Not only was I there to hold her as she slipped away, but the nurse and her favorite Aid were there at her side softly singing, "Amazing Grace". I hope that when it's time for me to be less of a bursen on my children, that they will consider Hempfield Manor or a facility like them.
