My father moved into Barbur Vista Residential Care last November. He's got dementia where he can still eat himself. He can't change himself. They take good care of him, and they have one activities person there. It's very nice. The accommodations are very nice. There's two different cottages. One cottage has a very nice big, open area with a seating area in the middle, which has a very open feeling to it because it's a big area. Then the rooms are kind of off to the side, maybe down a short hallway. The central meeting room is very welcoming. The place is very cheerful. It's nicely decorated, and the people are very nice. The caregivers are very nice, and they've had the same caregivers. I don't think it's a big turnover because it's almost more like a foster facility because it's 15 residents in each of those cottages. The people that own it, his family has foster facilities there. They have several smaller, five-resident homes. It kind of runs the same way, except they have that activities director. They could have a choice of menu, that would be one thing that might help. One person isn't enough to really do the activities the way that it could be done to be really top notch. They could really use one more because right now they have the schedule, but they're not really fulfilling the schedule because there's nobody there on Sundays and Mondays; that is the only thing, My father doesn't need a lot of that because I go and see him and I spend time with him. He's OK. They're very kind, and he just needs the socializatoin of, "hi, hello" and that kind of thing. There's a couple of people that kind of just meander around because they don't have anything to do. It's pretty clean. The activities person is wonderful, but she needs help. I think the price is worth it.
