Expect that your loved one will get a shower only when they know you are coming or they are going to see a doctor. Expect that staff turnover is high and they only do it for the paycheck. Building is beautiful and food is good but that is not enough to compensate for lack of attention and cleanliness.

I went to look at MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care of Beaverton. The facility was newer, modern, and updated. They had a lot of different activities. The people were really friendly. I got a sense of being like a family there with the employees. The only reason we chose not to go with this one was that it was significantly more expensive than the other places that we toured. The staff was very friendly. The meal experience was good. I thought it was way too salty, and I'm thinking of elderly people because a lot of times they have to be careful with salt. The dining area was nice. They had a movie theater, craft room, workout room, and an extra kitchen if you want to go in and have a baking class.

I was impressed with MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care of Beaverton. It looked very clean and very modern. It was a newer facility and I liked that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It seemed like they had a lot of good amenities and the rooms were nice. I saw a decent-sized private studio room with a private bath, a closet, and a kitchenette. I saw the dining room, the exercise room, a hair salon, and the arts and crafts room.

MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care of Beaverton was nice. I probably would have had a higher rating for it if I hadn't seen the other place. It's not quite up to the standards as the other place. We ate there and the food was very good. The one problem I had with MorningStar is that I felt like the people were overselling and I think it ended up turning my brother off. They had us meet first in a room and asked a lot of questions and then had us go to lunch by ourselves while they went off. It was just a little too hardcore sales. The rooms were very nice. They had a refrigerator and a microwave, but not the full size. They had walking paths close by, but not a lot outdoor. They had activities. They had some common areas and a movie theater area and it was nice.

We have chosen MorningStar Memory Care for my brother, I moved him in before Thanksgiving. We found it through a friend and everything has been good. We have good personal rapport. We had a friend who had somebody there so the interaction with them was good and we liked their philosophy. Their staff is good, they seemed to be very caring and very responsive. It's a nice, brand new facility. They have good communication and they listen and care about their residents. It's a little far out for us because we are in North Portland but it's close to freeways so it's fine. There's plenty of restaurants up there too. It's a nice wooded area. My brother has participated in some activities but it's been tough with Covid going on.

MorningStar of Beaverton is a very nice place. They're still figuring out all the staffing issues but most people are good. My dad is in memory care, and they do a good job with the food. They don't have as many activities in the memory care, but they have an exercise room, play bingo, movies, and a thing on New Year's.
