I visited this facility

We visited The Addison of Cornersburg twice. It was the business director who greeted us. He was so friendly and so open about anything. He did not try to sugarcoat anything. He kind of told you exactly like it is. He told us about the opportunities a person could have there. He talked about if they have a limitation and this is how they could help you. He showed us three different floor plans/layouts so we could pick the one that was best suited for our mother. He took us to the cafeteria where we met tons of people there who had nothing but nice things to say about him. They were very friendly. They wanted to know who you were and who you were bringing to join their community. They were just wonderful people. It's a nice, well-run organization by the business manager. My only hassle with that place is the business manager and the head nurse are not on the same page. The manager doesn't have nursing experience. So, he wanted to accept Mom and was telling us, "Yeah, this could work and this could work.". When the head nurse came to our home to do an assessment, she kind of talked to us on the side and said she didn't think Mom would be appropriate. So, we weren't sure that all their staff agreed on how things should go. That was a major drawback for us to that place. The facility itself was very nice. We didn't eat the food, but we were there when they were eating and it was well-balanced. There were two choices, as people don't always like everything, and then they kind of cater to each person individually. There was a person there who was suffering from a great deal of knee pain that day, and they were attentive to his needs because he needed to do some physical therapy at that time. So, they were right on top of him in helping him and all that. You could see that they would care for the people that they worked with. The first room we saw was kind of small to me because it just allowed your bed on one side with a dresser and a nightstand, while the other side of the room was the living room. That would be for a person who does not want a lot of space between their bed and their living room or maybe somebody limited in walking. I felt like the walls were closing in on me on that one. The bathroom was really good, even though it was a small place. The bathroom was the right size. If you had a wheelchair or some sort of cane/walker or anything, it was set up well for that to handle everything. They had a little kitchenette in the place, too, which surprised me because I thought there should be more room in the living room rather than having a kitchenette. Their food was fantastic already. All you have to do is walk down the hall, so why would you want a kitchenette in your room? But I guess people do. It was also well-equipped with a toaster oven and then they had places where if you wanted to have a small meal by yourself sometime, you could reach in the cupboards and have your own stuff there. It was well set up. We only met three staff members. We met Mike, the business manager, who was fantastic. We met the nurse who was more demanding and straightforward. Then we met one other staff member. She was just one of the day staff there and she was pleasant and very nice to talk to.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad moved to The Addison of Cornersburg. Everyone that I have dealt with so far has been wonderful. It's a small community, but it seems to have a lot to offer. All of the people I've dealt with have been very lovely and caring.

I visited this facility

I toured here. I was immediately shown to a small dining room. I was offered coffee. I was expecting a coffee in a Styrofoam cup, but it came in a regular cup with a saucer, and that just meant the world to me. I don't know why, but being served coffee that way, it did something. As I was waiting for the gentleman, everyone who walked by and saw me sitting there stopped and said hi. There were staff members and residents, and they were very friendly. The staff showed me around. It was very informative. It was lunchtime and I was asked if I would like to have lunch with them, and I did. I sat with two ladies who are residents there. Just in general conversation, they were nice. They offered encouraging words about the place. It was a very favorable first impression, and I was impressed by how friendly everybody was. They showed me all the different areas. And I like the idea that they have a lot of daily activities that are not mandatory. That's the only place that I looked at. I don't want to look at any place else, that's how impressed I was with it. I can see myself living there. When I got home, I had a question, so I called, and they provided an answer. I felt like I was valued by everybody. The staff was very knowledgeable about the place. He provided me with information. He gave me a copy of the activity schedule and a copy of the menu for the month. He is easy to talk to, very friendly, and personable. It was clean. It did not smell. The layout was good. There were no steps. The grounds were kept nice and neat. There were places outside to sit if you wanted to. Whatever they're doing, they're doing well, and I appreciated that. I didn't hear a bad comment from the residents. They're very welcoming. It's very inviting when you walk in. The surroundings, the environment, how it is decorated, and the cleanliness of it, it is just very inviting. It is somewhere that I would be proud to call my own. There are lots of areas to sit and mingle with friends and with other residents, so you're not stuck in your room. There are plenty of common areas to go and sit in that are comfortable. It's a very good experience.

It is a nice place. My dad likes it there. Out of all the places we saw, we just liked the people there the most and I had a good feeling about the way they talked to us. The staff is very, very friendly and very helpful. My dad's room is like a hotel room. It's very nice and clean. You can put it the way you want it. I was there when he ate a couple of times and so far he loves the food. They do chair exercises and they also take them out to for activities.

I visited this facility

I toured here for my mom. It was very nice and clean. The residents looked clean, and they looked happy. I did not taste the food, but it smelled really good coming out of the kitchen. They have like a live husband and wife team that was like a band. They had live singing and instrument playing. I was only there for like an hour or so. They were very nice.

My husband is in rehab right now, but he has been here. He fell and broke his hip, so I don't know what it will be when he goes back. He's only been there a little bit, but it seems fine to me. The layout seems fine, and the staff is friendly. Everything seems alright. It's just the location. It's closer to my daughter than to me. He says the food is fine. The facility seems nice and clean.
