I was at The Village at Westerville for respite care. I liked the staff the best. It's just they weren't enough. I also liked the cleanliness of the place, the friendliness of the staff, and the food. It wasn't like hospital food, it was good. They had plenty of activities for the clients too. It's one of the older facilities in Westerville, and so they didn't have the internet in the rooms, but they've done a good job on keeping it very updated, and they're working on redoing an apartment once it's vacant.

I'm a resident of The Village of Westerville. They serve a lot of sucrose-sweetened desserts around here, like ice cream, cookies, cake, and pie. And sucrose is a cardiovascular poison. Regarding the staff though, they're very friendly. Actually, there are several demented people here, so they are very kind in dealing with them as patiently as possible. As for the food, there's too much sugar, but they have a salad bar so that gives people that option, and that helps a little bit. They have outdoor spaces. They do not have a gym. They have a room with stationary bikes in it, but I don't notice that many people use those bikes. They have activities. They have arts and crafts anywhere from needlework to coloring to playing games. They play a lot of dominoes. They have one room where they have a large TV where people can watch the news or whatever.

The Village of Westerville was a nice place. We liked the amenities and the features. There was an available studio apartment that was like $1400 a month. However, the downpayment was a nonrefundable $3000. If we didn't get the apartment, we would not get that money back. We like the fact that they offer third party care and that you would only use it if you needed it. I like that it had a feeling like you're at home. It looked very clean. It was seemingly a little outdated, but they did say that they were doing some renovations on the property. Other than that, it was very well kept. The staff was very friendly and made you feel comfortable. All the meals are provided. There is third party care if you need it, so it's not something you have to prepackage. It's as needed and you will pay as needed. The residents can maintain their independence. They could come and go as they please. You could see the residents out and about, relaxing in common areas, sitting and talking. They talked about the activities. They were getting ready to set up for a happy hour. They showed us the location where the residents would gather. They showed us where, if they wanted to attend a service and do different things, there was a room designated for those activities, but they did have the actual activity room where the residents could do arts and crafts and have their special gatherings together. It had an older feel to it, but it wasn't unpleasant. It seemed very comfortable.

I toured The Village of Westerville. What I liked best about it was its location, because there are lots of things around it. It's in close proximity to things that are easy to get to, like Walmart is nearby, and several restaurants, and Kroger. All the staff that I have met so far seem to be very helpful and understanding. The person that was my tour guide's name was Mara, and she was very helpful as far as telling me about their different programs, what are their lunch hours, and things that are available at the facility, activity programs, and things like that. As far as cleanliness is concerned, from the initial appearance, everything seems to be kept clean. Things are laid out fairly well. They have laundry facilities in each wing. They have an elevator. They have a lift chair. There is a courtyard. It's divided in the wings, so a courtyard is in the center. There is another area on the outside with two fairly large planting areas where residents can grow their own flowers and vegetables. This seems to be like an inviting atmosphere. I only visited one room and it was a one-bedroom. It had a very small kitchen that had an apartment-sized refrigerator and a countertop. It had a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom that had a shower in it instead of a tub, which I liked. You have your own door that's lockable.

I like The Village of Westerville. The location is great. It seems to be close to many different things that I would go to. I like the setup. I like the atmosphere a lot. I felt like I could enjoy it and be happy, and I could take my dog with me, which is important. But I live on $1,500 a month, and the low offering is $1,500 a month to live in the facility. That takes every penny, and then I don't have any money for anything else. Everybody was very open, warm, and friendly, and they were eager to answer any questions I had. I felt like everyone was honest. With regards to the building itself, I like the fact that it was like an open structure, or at least in the areas where I live, I did not feel like I was in a place that made me feel confined or that kind of thing. And everything was clean. It looked very bright and shiny and that made me feel good, too. I felt like it was a place that I could be comfortable in and that I could feel safe in. Those are kind of like the two most important things to me, that I still would have the freedom to do whatever things I wanted to do, but yet there would be people around me, and I like that sense. I like the sense of the fact that I can live independently and live alone in my own place as it were, but yet there were people around me, and I had everything that I needed available to me.

The Village of Westerville was a nice place. I would live there. They have everything you need. They have transportation, and they take you to grocery stores if you don't have a car. They have little stores inside. They have a little mini-mall area actually. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very nice, but I just kind of felt rushed. It was all centered around. The apartment seemed kind of small, but it had a huge, nice bathroom. The kitchen was nice. They have no food service at all.

I liked The Village of Westerville. Everything was beautiful. The building was nice and clean. It was big and there's a lot of people around. The staff was just as sweet as they can be. The dining area was pretty clean and beautiful with lots of light. They have a salon, a barbershop, and their own facilities to do your laundry.

I love The Village of Westerville. I think it's a perfect place. I saw a lot of the residents sitting, playing games, and doing things like that. The rooms were perfect. The dining room was beautiful. There's lots of room around, and you can go outside. My brother likes planting flowers and different things like that, so that would be ideal because they have a gazebo that they've already set up for people who could plant flowers. The people that took us around were wonderful. There's a little kitchenette in the room. It has a smaller refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink. I was impressed with the rooms. The way they were laid out was nice.

I'm going to move to The Village at Westerville Retirement Center. The tour was very, very nice and very well done. They gave us all the information. We came back a couple of times, met with them and had lunch. It was all very good. The food was great. It was good home cooking. They have a dining room and they have servers, so they come and serve you at your table. The staff members we met were friendly, congenial, knowledgeable about what they were doing, very gracious, and kind, and they were working with all the residents. I could see that they just cared about the people that they were working with. The room I'm getting is very spacious. It's a two-bedroom with a shared living space and separate bathrooms. It's very comfortable and spacious. I'll have room for all my stuff. When we were there, the residents were all excited because it was gonna be Black Jack Night. They have bingo, cards, all those kind of entertainment, senior exercises, chair exercises, and yoga exercises. My expectation is high especially compared to the other ones that we looked at. I think this is one that will meet my needs much better. The facility was clean and tidy. They are completely redoing my room before I move in. They're painting and putting in new carpeting, so it'll be like a clean suite, and everything looked in good repair.

I went to look at The Village at Westerville Retirement Center. It is very friendly and very homey. It was just a pleasant place to be. The staff was wonderful. I see that their calendar is full of activities every day. Our dinners will be prepared. They have a beauty salon, library, and craft room. As far as I know, there are activities such as playing cards, bingo, and just about anything you could think of. They have physical therapy and a workout room. They have a raised garden that you could plant your own garden if you choose. There's a quarter-mile walking path around. My husband stayed there last year alone for assisted living, and he loved the dining hall. He was very excited and glad to go back because he enjoyed the presentation, the waiter, the food, and the desserts. He loved it all. He was there three months, and then we toured it again in another area. We were looking at apartments, not a studio.

My parents moved in about 2 years ago and just in time for the covid lockdowns. Ed and staff couldn't have been more careful and concerned for my parents than if I were taking care of them. Housekeeping does a great job, food is good, but presentation could be better. There are plenty of activities, to the point my mom would tell me she's so busy she is worn out. :) My parents use one of the doctors that visits the center and we couldn't be more pleased with the NP (Jamie) who looks in on them. Physical Therapy also does a good job. Yes, its not as pretty as some independent/assisted living centers, but i will trade that anytime for the care they receive. The center doesn't just talk about family, they live it. When I was first looking at a place for my parents, this was the only one where staff passing me in the halls would actually smile and say hello. And that was maintenance, housekeeping, kitchen and nursing. I highly recommend the Village.

I visited The Village at Westerville, but the rooms available were upstairs, and I was worried for Mom. We talked to the woman who ran the place, and she showed us around. We did not get to see the rooms.

Our family is a great fan of this facility, where both of my parents lived for about 5 years. Top-notch care, friendly people, good food - just a very supportive and healthy environment. My parents were very happy here, and, so were we, knowing they were in great hands.

The physical appearance of The Village at Westerville was very nice and comfortable-looking. I believe this facility has been there for many years because it is here in town and I've driven by it many times. It seemed in the fine state of repair and I saw nothing that looked dated at all. Also its location is very convenient for me. I think it was just before lunch when I visited this place. There were people downstairs getting ready for lunch. I had lunch there too and I liked it. The residents seemed happy and active.
