I liked all about Kemper House Strongsville. The staff was very friendly and it was very organized. The sizes of the rooms were OK. The atmosphere was fun and nice. The residents were talking to each other. Their courtyard was nice, too. There are activities to do there, because the building is around the courtyard.

My wife was at Kemper House Strongsville for about a month. That was excellent. They had many activities and activities came in from the outside also. The staff had lots of experience with their longevity. There were generations of caregivers there. It was very high-quality, family-oriented care. I used to have dinner with my wife there. The facilities were very good also.

I wasn't impressed with Kemper House Strongsville. I had an appointment set up but no one was there to give me a tour except for a student-aide. She showed me around and handed me a piece of paper saying they'd call me back if they want to follow up. The place itself was somewhat dirty and cluttered, and I felt that it wasn't a good fit. Everything was fairly old and didn't look updated. They showed me a board on the wall with their activities. I didn't like that the rooms were semi-private. It had a sort of claustrophobic feeling and wasn't very bright; for dementia patients, you want a lighter environment since they tend to Sundown. I would suggest that they update the rooms and have knowledgeable staff on at least during the daytime hours. There wasn't any follow up.

Kemper House was started by a family who was dealing with Alzheimer’s; as a matter of fact, Mr. Kemper is a resident in the facility, so they are very in-tune to what Alzheimer’s patients need. They exclusively deal with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, so they tend to do an awful lot in the way of music and activities. They go on bus trips through the parks and maybe stop for ice cream. Their big thing is to get them out and about to enjoy life. They have a facility with a big porch with chairs where they can go and sit. The thing we like is they have enclosed courtyards where the residents can walk out anytime. The doors are always open, so if my husband wants to walk outside or if he wants to sit in the courtyard, he would be able to do that, and that was a real plus for us. They also have an open kitchen where they keep yogurt, ice cream, and fruits that he is welcome anytime he is hungry. The coffee is always on, and you are welcome to come there, enjoy the kitchen, and have a snack with him anytime of the day you are there. It definitely fit our needs.

My wife has been at Kemper House going on three years - and while her Alzheimer's continues to deteriorate and while she does know me much anymore - she leads a happy fulfilled life thanks to their excellent staff. They have very creative activities, they answer questions 24/7 and the place is clean and smells good. I pay $150 a day for Norma's care (she is in a semi-private room - which is good for her) and that includes everything except Doctor's visits, medication, and twice a month beautician. If ANYTHING goes wrong, no matter how minor, the staff calls me. Kemper House was highly recommended by a senior health care advocate that I have known for many years - and has totally lived up to her good reviews.

My mother goes to this facility twice a week for daytime care. They provide meals, activities (even occasional field trips), and expert care overall. She is fully incontinent, but they are very efficient in maintaining good hygiene. They have the same person take her in and bring her out, providing her with at least some recognition and a sense of stability. She always seems calm and relaxed when we come to pick her up. Our family has been extremely satisfied with our choice!

We brought my Grandmother to stay at Kemper House when we could no longer manage her at home. This was the most difficult decision our family had to make but Kemper House made it so much easier. We all felt that they really cared about my grandma and came to know her and love her, just as we had hoped and prayed would happen. I know this sounds cliohe, but they were truly our savior!
