Avenue at Strongsville is pretty new. They're still in the process of trying to fill positions, but in the part that my mother's at, which is in memory care, they seemed to care about her and get to know them. They constantly call me with questions, like when she has concerns because of her memory, she tends to worry a lot. They'll call me to just check and make sure that everything's OK, just to make sure that she understands that everything is OK. It's a good place for her, but they still are short-staffed. They have a library, they have a hairdresser, and they do field trips.

My husband is at Avenue at Strongsville. A lot of the places I went to, I didn't like, and a lot of them didn't accept my husband, but Avenue did and so I chose them. However, they don't have any help, and they're not doing any rehab. It's all agencies, so they don't even know the patients. The food is the same every day. They have activities but they don't include him. As for the upkeep, it's a very nice place. They offer a dining area, a salon, and an outside courtyard, which is very, very nice. However, with regard to upkeep, they don't clean the floors. Like yesterday, I had to clean the floors as there were white spots all over it.

My father-in-law was sent here for rehabilitation with a fractured hip through 6 weeks he was left in his bed and ignored by the nursing staff. My mother in law was literally doing their jobs for them, along with my wife and sister-in-law. We walked in one time with a aid feeling him,WHILE HE WAS ASLEEP. Because of their lack of moving him to his wheelchair (among other things) he got pneumonia and passed away. My mother in law was told that his room would be left alone until they got there when they did get there the room was completely stripped and cleaned and no one knew where his items were. My mother in law, wife and sister-in-law went back and his items were stuffed in a garbage bag, says alot about how they "care" about their patients. Don't believe what you read in positive feedback, they will tell you anything that they think you want to hear just to get your money. My father-in-law in went in for a fractured hip,and we ended up burying him due to short, uncaring staff. Please don't send your love one here

My father came to Avenue to have rehab after fracturing his hip. Sadly he passed away from Avenues neglect. Nurses do nothing than pass out meds. They sit at their desk or are nowhere to be found. Aids are from employment agency, so you never get the same aid. A very uncaring place. My father needed a bed pan, I told nurse he needed it, her reply to me was he'd have to wait till she could find an aid. Well after a few minutes my mom & I got him on it. Otherwise he would of waited for over 20 minutes! He was there for 5 weeks, and was taken to ER 3 times, because of thier neglect. He had blood in his urine, which nurse or aids NEVER caught, my mother did. Another was he was having breathing issues, which again they didn't see, we did. He ended up getting pneumonia due to their neglect. They let him lay in bed all day, never getting him up, unless we told them to do it. There is so much more, but I don't have the space. All I can say is if you have a loved one who needs nursing home AVENUE is NOT the place for them...
