Facility and patients were regularly well cared for. Visitors were welcomed. All were treated with respect and compassion. Such a blessing to my father and family!

My family member recently moved here, he is very isolated. Drove 8 hours to see him for a scheduled visit and was told when we got there it was canceled. Covid was the reason. No one called to let us know. I wonder about Covid being a frequent issue in a government healthcare facility that allows no visitors especially after vaccine is available to all. The fact that lack of courtesy to not inform us of the cancellation makes me wonder about the care.

Ohio Veterans Home Sandusky was a nice facility. It's a nice park-like area, and it's quite large. They're very personable, and they had all the facilities that one would find interesting or important. The residents seemed very social, there were some playing cards, there were some visiting, and there were some telling war stories. They were very talkative, and the residents wanted to say hello to the people who came through.

This is the only facility that did not easily medicate to make an Alzheimer's patient sleep at night

My friend is a veteran, and he is in Ohio Veterans Home. He seems happy there. They seem to be relatively well staffed. It is bright, cheerful, and they have a lot of activities for veterans. It is a good place. They have a cafeteria there and patients' family can come there too. The food is pretty good, and he seems happy with the food. He doesn’t have any complaints. I think the rooms are probably more comfortable than the other nursing home facilities that we look at. He has a place to put his clothes, he can have his own TV, his own nightstand, and it is adequate. As far as activities, they have everything. You name it they have it. Everything from movies to cards, and they have a lot of association from veteran groups that come there and put on musicals and entertainment. So, there is plenty going on. The security is adequate. They have people at the door to check you in and you have to show your ID when you go in.

My loved one is at the Sandusky VA Home (Ohio Veterans Home). So far, he really likes it. They keep them quite busy. It seems to be going quite well -- better than I expected. They have transportation to get him wherever he wants to go and it has kept him independent (even if he is not really that independent). He loves the food. Everything is clean. They get to eat whatever they want. They pretty much try to please them. They have a very good variety. He is always saying something good about it. The rooms are a nice size. The shower area is very nice and clean. There is a whirlpool tub, too. It has a nice set up, actually. However, he shares the bathroom. Overall, I would recommend this facility.

Since the beginning of July my brother has been at Ohio Veterans Home and it's a very pleasant experience. The place is very clean and the staff are very caring. They would notify you immediately if there's any type of change. They have a family council and the social workers are really caring. The rooms are also very clean. It's a shared room, but I think they match the people up really well. We chose this for him because he has some memory issues and they cater to people with memory issues.

We have moved our father to the Ohio Veterans Home. He is in a semi-private room and the surrounding is beautiful for 99 acres, 5 different buildings and they have live peacocks walking around. The staff there is excellent. He eats the food and he said its good.

The people who worked at tne Ohio Veterans Homes were very friendly and affable. They would always stop and chat with us on our visits. They also seemed to really know my grandfather. When they came in to change his sheets or clothing they always asked him personal questions about his family or friends. The facilities were also very nice there was a large courtyard in the middle of the Ohio Veterans Homes where there were some 10 or more peacocks. Everything was also very clean and tidy.
