Management is more worried about the all mighty buck than your loved one. They will constantly move your loved one to the next expensive area within the facility. Management will call you into a "Care conference" and they don't even know your loved one but try to convince the caregiver they are placed wrong and they need moved immediately. YOU the caregiver can fight but they don't care what you think. If management doesn't get their way they threaten the caregiver to find another facility for your loved one. There is always someone to take your loved one's spot at Otterbein. That's why they are pushing your loved one onto the next level of care. It's all about YOUR money. I wouldn't be surprised if the management gets bonuses for moving people up to the next care level. They are like used car salesmen...PUSHY! The nurses and aides are wonderful but under paid and under staffed which means overworked. I have NO complaints about the love the nurses and aides give. They were awesome!!! Take your loved one to another facility, I wish I had.

Obbertein St. Marys was good. The only thing negative was some pretty strong smell in parts of the place. These are older people living there, so I understand why that happens, but I don’t think I had a very good feeling about that. The rooms seemed nice and adequate. It was a bit older but pretty well-kept overall, and it seemed an adequate care facility. They were all very friendly and helpful; it seemed like they had a good relationship with the residents, and they answered our questions. It was a little less expensive, but it was comparable. We have considered this place a lot just because it is very close to where my mother lives. It is within walking distance, so she has been there before, and she knows the people.

Otterbein St. Marys is a step down place in between. You start out with independent living, and then you can go to hospice facility. I think they’re great. They seemed clean and nice, and the people seemed well taken care of. The layout looked nice, and they have various ways to get in to the place so to speak.

Sub par care! Looks good from the outside but they have a lot of work to do in the care dept. My mother is neglected and family does a lot of care.
