My parents are going to Otterbein Cridersville. They gave us a really good deal. They were very kind and they tried very hard to help us out. Nicole was very knowledgeable about everything. She was very kind. It was a good experience. Well, my in-laws had been there, so we were familiar with it. The places are very nice. The facility is clean and everybody's friendly. It was just what my parents needed. I can't say anything about activities, but what they let us know that they were doing sounded very nice. The facility was very good. Everything was very nice and maintained very well. They have a pool, a gym, a salon, and a nice dining room.

Cridersville History Cridersville has always been a great little village in a beautiful region of Ohio. But the area was lacking in options for senior living. In the early 1980s, the Health and Welfare ministries of the United Methodist Church recommended it for a retirement community. The Westview United Methodist Church, along with the Cridersville town officials, aggressively promoted the idea to Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices. Contributions from Westview and a generous donation from a local landowner made the vision possible. In March 1988, the Otterbein Cridersville Community broke ground on the 56-acre site. The first residents moved in that December. The continuing growth and success of the community shows just what vision, faith and determination can do. However, our origins date back to 1912, when the first Otterbein community was built in Lebanon, Ohio. The full story of Otterbein's founding is quite inspiring. Originally a home for the elderly and orphaned, in the 1960's Otterbein devoted itself exclusively to enhancing the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons. Since then, Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices has grown to include retirement communities, skilled nursing and rehab neighborhoods, and home health. We continue to look forward with vision and faith. To learn more about this provider's license and review other available state reports, please visit: Ohio Department of Health Long-Term Care Provider Search

Otterbein Cridersville seems like a very nice community. The residents are given good activities, so they don't get bored. They have arts and crafts. They have days where they can play cards together and take walks around the pond areas. There is just about anything to keep them active. The apartments were very nice. They have a studio apartment that had its own TV and sitting areas. The food seemed really well prepared as they adjusted to their diets. The people were very compassionate towards the residents. They cared about what they thought and and how their quality of life was.

Otterbein Cridersville was beautiful and clean. The dining area was beautiful. They have a beauty shop. They have exactly what my mom needs. They have three meals a day. The staff was super nice. The whole assisted living part was just beautiful. The dining room was beautiful and there was lots of space. The lighting was beautiful. The tables set were beautiful. The whole area was just very inviting and very beautiful. They have free cable and telephone. They have covered patios with lawn furniture that you can sit out and look out in the country. The setting was beautiful.

We have looked at Otterbein Cridersville, but my mom just doesn't want to move out of her home. It was spacious, very clean, updated, and beautiful. They have a refrigerator, a stove range, an oven, and a sink in the room. They have everyday kitchen appliances. There's a microwave, washer, and dryer. The staff was very personable, but yet businesslike. She explained everything. If we have any questions, she was more than willing to explain everything.

The visit I had with Otterbein Cridersville was not helpful at all. The director did not take us to see the assisted living area and seemed very persistent about placing my loved one in the independent living area (which was not going to work at all). It's a very large community. They have independent, assisted, and long term care facilities. If I was to rate the facility itself, it would probably be a 4 or 5, but my experience was not that well because I didn't feel like I was being listened to and strongly encouraged to place him in the independent that I didn't think would work at all.

My friend likes Otterbein Cridersville, but the amount of money they're asking is too high. It's a nice place, but you have to pay extra for getting your pills done or to get the house cleaned. All you get is just an extra space, and it's quite a bit of money. You don't get meals included, so you have to pay extra. They have an exercise class, and the staff has been good.

Otterbein Cridersville's grounds were not as well-kept and did not seem to be mature. The shrubbery and the trees seemed to be much more recently planted. The salesperson was excellent. The food service and service staff in the dining room though were awful and quite inadequate. The food was terrible and just awful. The units seemed small to us, and the smallest one of two that we saw had a kitchen with some nice features which did not carry over into the next-sized house's kitchen, although it had some nice things about it too.

Otterbein Cridersville was a nice, big, impressive place. The apartments that we saw were fairly large and nicely laid out with two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, an attached garage, bathroom, and sun porch. If you wanted assistance, you sign up and they come in. They had a bus to take you to lunch or wherever so you didn't have to walk. The larger gathering building was very nice and had a pool, exercise area, and a nice, big dining room. There are also pretty sitting areas spread out. The girl from the office took us around in her golf cart, and they were very helpful.

My mother is going to be in Otterbein Cridersville for 3 weeks. It is near to where my brother's lives, so it would be very close for him to check on her. The rooms were nice. They have different dining halls in different wings. The staff was friendly and helpful when we were there. The place was clean and well-maintained.

Otterbein Cridersville was very nice, and I like that’s it’s a nice little independent village type thing. The landscaping is really nice, the staff was very nice, and the residents seemed happy. They have transportation there; they have day trips and different activities at the facility all the time. They have exercise programs and cards.

Well for starters the facility was very clean and livable. The staff was very friendly and out going made you feel like you were at home. They didnt have any creepy looking janitors that would make the elderly feel uncomfortable. They seemed like they really like their job and what they were doing. I personally felt comfortable puting a family member there. I even got a chance to eat their the food was pretty good. I did notice alot of younger girls there working. No that thats a bad thang but sometimes i feel they are more worried about whats going on in the outside world and not the task at hand. The nurses on the other hand were very assuring and helpful. The administration was kind and really seemed to care alot about their patients. Guess what im getting at is when people take the time to care for others is a beautiful thing and i have alot of respect for those who do its not a job for everyone but its not a job for me.

This facility seems nice from the outside. When visiting, everyone is extremely nice and seems to treat the resident well. However, one day I came to visit my grandmother, and she was on a bedpan in her room. She had hip surgery, and was there for rehab. She had a bedsore on her butt from being left on the bed pan too long!! She told me that the faculty, while they seemed nice, were very nasty to her when her family wasn't there visiting. There were also several times we came into see her and she did not have clean sheets on her bed. She also told us that she was not bathed every day like she requested. It was not because of any medical reason, just that the staff "did not have time". The aides are very lazy, and when you confront them about any of these complaints, they are extremely rude to you. I would not recommend this facility to anyone, ever!

I think they took very good care of her, considering the hospital had sent over an order for a drug that had caused her to have a very bad mental reaction to it (Lithium). It basically made her behave as if she was on some kind of hallucinogen. When we saw the Hosptial had been responsible for ordering it, they were very nice, helping me with her and getting her back there as quickly as possible. (This was before she died)
