My mother in law was a resident in the memory care unit. The place was a dump. She had fallen twice and the 2nd time she had fallen they had no clue how long she was laying there. She never regained consciousness. DIRTY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. A 1 STAR IS TOO MUCH IN OUR FAMILY'S OPINION

Very poor the Standard of care for Alzheimer patients. My brother had several falls that were improperly assessed and died as a result of subdural hematomas on his brain.

We were promised improvements to the memory care unit 2 years ago. Nothing was done and this place has gone downhill. It is dirty, run down, and is under staffed. The boiler breaks down every winter. There is one aid to 9 patients. There has been 4 administrators since my loved one was placed there. Now there is only a interim administrator. There is a large turnover in help and there are no activities or stimulation for the patients. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. It is a dump.

I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone. Unfortunately my loved one is a resident and I am in the facility at least once a week, usually more. This is not the same facility we chose two years ago. Administration is worthless, staff members are rude and burned out. Even house keeping and maintenance are rude. The place is run down and a total dump. We were told the place would be renovated, how many years does that take? The memory care unit is a total joke. Residents have no stimulation, no redirection. Some are violent with no protection for the other residents. I could go on and on about all the issues with this dump. If you love your family member DO NOT take them to Pine Valley!
A disgusted and hopeless visitor

My mother was there for 16 months. The place was filthy and food so disgusting- not nutritious at all. No stimulation for people and they treated the monthly visitor that I was as an intrusion. No one who loves someone would place them there.

The only thing I didn't like about Pine Valley Care Center was they didn't have a wide array of activities. The staff were good and they offered me many different options. I suggest they have an outdoor courtyard because the residents like to get outside.

My father was sent there for rehab recovery after pneumonia, kidney problems, etc. The call buzzer in his room was defective (they knew that) and workers left a door near his room open to the 30 degree weather - and he couldn't get any help because of the defective button. They don't change him frequently. They take vitals - ignore his concerns (coughing, no urination) and then were upset when we got authorization for him to go back to the hospital - "you never told us his symptoms" - we did, but they had no reaction.

My husband had a couple of behavioral problems, and Pine Valley Care Center had proved to me that they could take care of him. I'm very happy. The staff is wonderful, it's very clean, the administration is wonderful, and the care he's getting is wonderful. He's only been there about three and a half weeks.

I am there every day since late May 2011 as a visitor. I think the staff is decent. I think management is horrible. Not compassionate whatsoever. They are constantly under-staffed...and seem to do nothing about it, like use a temp service or something. This makes it harder on the staff in which makes it harder on the residents. I think they are very dirty and unorganized as well. I would not feel comfortable leaving my loved one there if I wasn't able to be there every day and I'm waiting for a new one to open to hopefully move her. Again I think the aids work fairly hard and seem kind. Most of the nurses as well. Just under-staffed. I will say the food is excellent though. They have a good chef. I also think the therapy is really good too. Other then that, I'm very disappointed. I make this known to management quite a bit, but does not seem to do any good. Always playing the blame game.

While the staff obviously cares about the residents, there aren't enough personnel on duty and the facility grows increasingly dirty and the food selection is extremely poor.
