I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this facility. The entire staff is attentive, caring, and excellent at their jobs. Those nurses do not miss a beat and are always right on top of every situation. There is a happy and helpful air about the place, from the receptionists as you walk in, to the management, but the nurses and aids are beyond awesome.

Would not recommend. Poor staff, poor communication, bad food. Your belongings disappear. No one knows where they are. Avoid this place!

My loved one was there and we had to move him. He was discharged because his insurance wouldn't pay them any longer so they kicked him out with a HUGE infected and bleeding bedsore. They were informed that no one would be at home to care for him and they did not care. No help to find resources or anything. They would not answer the bells and the night crew were lazy. No communication to his spouse on his health. Terrible and way overpriced for the care received. Shame on you all.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I would not recommend this facility to others. I had a family member that was at this facility for years and I was consistently disappointed. If my family member had an incident or went to the hospital I wouldn't ever be notified from staff. Staff is lazy and not attentitive. My family member got cdiff while there and the medication to treat it wasn't even given properly. The staff is always outside smoking. My family member would always be told by staff that they were busy when he would ask for assistance. I made calls out to the director of nursing and wouldn't receive calls back promptly and issues still went unaddressed. Also felt like things and money had went missing. Money along with possessions were also conveniently missing after this family member passed which was very disappointing at a time like that. Much better places in the area for assisted living.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

When we first visited the Parma Care Center, we were very impressed about the atmosphere there. It is very warm. From the moment you walk in the day you are greeted by a friendly faced receptionist by the name of Sally. This is not just a place where people go to die, which was my impression of assisted living. The staff is friendly and they CARE, which is rare these days. They have a number of great activities that the residents can get involved in such as bingo, poker tournaments, religious services, or watching sporting events in the gathering room on a big screen tv. There is a main dining hall in each wing of the facility where the residents can get together and eat at meal time together. If the resident does not feel well or is unable to leave their room, their dinner is delivered and some of the aides will sit with the resident and keep them company while they eat. They even host different types of parties throughout the year and go on field trips twice a month which may include breakfast, shopping, bingo, or other fun activities. Even if there is a problem, the higher ups are really caring and will take the time to sit down with you to discuss the issue. They do all they can to bend over backward to help. Now that she has passed away, my aunt is in the facility and we go sometimes to visit. It is nice to have peace of mind to know that your loved ones are taken care of with peace and dignity when we are not able to do so ourselves.

This was a great place to care for a loved one when you can't do so yourself. The staff was extremely attentive to the needs of the residents and would go out of their way to be sure they were taken care of. There were some issues with the staff not doing small things such as having a clothing protector in place during meal times or not having the proper meals delivered to the residents but these were small in comparison to the peace of mind that was provided. The facility also had numerous activities and games for the residents to participate in and each holiday was celebrated. They made everyone feel like they were at home and were not only taken care of but also loved.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I visited this facility when my mother was in need of a nursing home. She'd been in the hospital for over a month and needed a place to receive physical therapy, as well as a place that could accommodate her respiratory needs. She needed access to a CPAP, and had a trach in her throat. I was impressed at first, but eventually became concerned about the care she was receiving. Staff was friendly, and I could visit her whenever I wanted. I noticed there were problems with them holding back items I gave her or things would go missing. Eventually, they also began to modify her diet, and she was put on a 1500 calorie diet, which doctors said would help her lose weight, but left her listless and no longer was she the vibrant and active person I was used to. When more time passed she complained to me that she felt demeaned and that she didn't like being there. She felt the staff were against her. I brushed her complaints off as we'd had problems with other facilities, and I just thought that she was complaining without cause. Sadly, my refusal to take her serious may have contributed to her eventual death while at their facility. The day of her death, staff allowed her to clean her trach by herself, as she'd been trained to do so. Something went wrong, and she began to bleed into her lungs from a cut in her trach, where she'd been cleaning it. Staff refused to take her discomfort and concern seriously, and allowed her to bleed for 8 hours into her lungs. When 911 was called, it was simply too late. I would not recommend this nursing home as I feel there must be better choices available for families and patients out there.
