My brother was at the nursing home part of the Renaissance. Our experience was excellent. The service and the staff were tremendous. They're always there for anything he needs. The grounds are beautiful and it's right up a golf course.

While being fully aware of the national short staffing issues, my parent is receiving sub-standard care. The facility is not meeting the lowest of expected standards. * The skilled nursing food is gross, cold, and less than acceptable in quality. * The agency aids (some, not all) do not follow the rules, they do not respond to patient needs, they do not know the rules. * The management do not return calls when issues arise and the patient care results in injury or neglect. This place was once revered. It is not anymore. I am sick with sadness and dispare with what I am seeing daily. Believe me when i say that some of the caretakers are above and beyond AMAZING. But a few cannot care for all. The problem i see is the lack of problem solving by management. I do not see action in correcting mistakes. I do not see-or hear-implementation of a plan of action to correct wrongs. Apologies are empty when the issues are not

Independent living is fine, but I would not put another loved one in the assisted living or nursing care facility. All of the incidents mentioned in past reviews also happened to my dad. Although I would add fighting to get him a shower and medications that were never received to the list. My suggestions for improvement would include: higher ratios of staff to residents, better (any?) sensitivity training on the elderly and dementia, better pay for aides, improving the food quality (like fresh fruit options!), a clear chain of command to address concerns, a culture of respect and an expectation that phone calls and emails will receive responses. Maybe these are universal problems in elder care facilities, but I would much rather take my chances on a new place when my mom’s time comes.

I have lived at the Renaissance for over two years and am very satisfied with my Villa. I enjoy all the people and staff. The food is excellent.

I am the daughter of a now deceased resident. I visited him weekly, as did his other 3 daughters. He developed a large bed sore just prior to his death. He also had been admitted to a local hospital with a fever and possible sepsis and dehydration. He was returned to the nursing home afterward. He would sit for hours waiting to be helped to the bathroom or to have his diaper changed. Because of that he would not drink enough liquids. Some of the staff were condescending to him. He was wheel chair bound and was injured while being pushed down the hall on one occasion. I realize facilities are short staffed now but there has to be some solution to these concerns. He was on Medicaid which I think was the biggest factor.

Our Father spent the last few weeks of his life at the skilled nursing facility at The Renaissance. During this time, he fell four times and developed a stage III bed sore. The facility offers too few staff and inappropriate adaptive equipment to meet the needs of seniors with limited mobility.

I did not really care for The Renaissance Retirement Campus. My sister was there, but she was not in a specialized care unit. It had different levels of care. The facility was crowded. One thing they can improve on would probably be the nurse to patient ratio.

We are at The Renaissance. We have been here for about a year and a half, and we are satisfied. Our villa is fine. They refurbished it entirely before we came. They put in a fireplace for us, and there is a screened-in porch that they completely enclosed and remodeled. They seem to have an awful lot of activities, but frankly we don't take advantage of many of those because we're living independently. One time each month, they go out to lunch somewhere on the other side of town, and they also go out to dinner once a month. They have very good transportation. We are quite pleased with the surroundings. What really stands out? At least from where we are, there is plenty of space both inside and outside. We have our own garage, and out the back, it faces eventually onto a golf course. The golf course goes all the way around The Renaissance, so it is quite spacious. Especially in the spring, it is magnificent. They have two or three rather large ponds with ducks and all. So it's the grounds that stand out.

Looks nice, but be wary and ask a lot of questions. The Renaissance nickles and dimes its residents to death, and raises its prices for EVERYTHING, annually, to the full extent allowed by the resident contract. Administrators even go so far as to force residents to pay for services the residents don't want or need. Yes, there are many staffers there who are quite nice and caring. Unfortunately, once you get up the food chain to real decisionmakers, it's all about the money and how much they can milk from residents' before they pass. This is supposed to be a non-profit CCRC. So much for that.
