My 99 year old aunt has been in and out of this facility for extended rehab over the past 6 years and is now a permanent resident. We have always found the facility to be very clean, the staff knowledgeable about my aunt's status and very caring. They have encouraged her and helped her to participate in activities even when she was not enthusiastic. The director of nursing and social worker have been extremely sympathetic, knowledgeable and helpful as we struggled with establishing guardianship. I highly recommend this facility.

The staff is horrendous. My mother in law has been there for about 24 hours and the staff is the worst. She's scared to eat the food because she's scared what the staff has put into it because she's asking why people aren't taking care of her!! What she's paying for them to do!!!! She is scared to hit the call button because they've been so cruel to her. She's sitting in urine and feces to the point where I've told her to call 911 to take her back to UH. I feel bad for for the helpless elderly people there that are no doubt being neglected there. The city should close this place down.

My father was in the Northfield Village nursing home. There were a lot of problems, and he had a lot of accidents there too. They don't seem to care enough about them. There were times I went there, and I could see they weren't taking care of him. Once or twice, he said that he didn't like the food, but most of the time he would eat. He broke his hip, and they gave him therapy every day, but as far as activities -- there were things to do there and everything -- he doesn't participate, and they leave him be. Probably they could improve the staff. I felt like they were ignoring the people there. They didn't seem to be on the ball. There were three or four times I've gone there, and I caught them; he had diarrhea a lot, and they weren't taking care of him. Then he was sick a lot, and I'd go in the room and he'd be sick all by himself. You don't like to see that kind of stuff. You'd think that the nurses would be on it.

Should be one of the last choices on the list of skilled care. Unhelpfull staff, poor overall care. Pretty on the outside with well lit rooms, however sub par experience. Families must be present often if they are expecting thier parents to even receive a meal. Transferred our loved one out of there within 2 weeks.

I would recommend Northfield Village to others. The place is clean. The staff is friendly. My mom said that if she had to be some place, this facility would be okay.
