The grounds at The Inn at Whitewood Village were beautiful. It's very nicely kept on the outside. When you walk inside, it's very, very warm. It's a much larger facility. There are living room areas to sit and visit with their family members. They encourage their clients to be out of their rooms. They have living areas with television and one of the cool things is we can bring a DVD or different devices, and there's a movie theater in there with reclining seats. It's as if we're in an actual movie theater. They have a small pub there for the older adults and family members to go in and have a drink and they have their special happy hour. There is a greenhouse there for those that enjoy gardening. The house had very warm lighting. It's exactly like the soft lighting here at the house and that's one of the things that would make mama very comfortable. When we visited other facilities, she was very quiet and it surprised me at Whitewood, when she got up to the memory care facility and walked into the room that would be her room, with the view of the garden, she started talking. There's a specific garden for memory care that is encircled to where they can't walk off, but they can be out there. There's someone out there with them, but there's no way that they can walk off. It's enclosed in the center of the facility. There's a little game area in the middle, puzzles, and a workout room. Family can go in there with them. Price-wise, I'm shocked. It'll be $185 a day and she is special care. I'm surprised at how low the price per day is for everything she would be getting. Also, they have the artwork and so forth on the walls and a lot of it dates back to their era. There's a special place at one part, pictures of Clark Gable, Louis Armstrong, and so forth on the walls, and I liked that. They have areas with more up-to-date pictures, too. I like the idea that we can bring our furniture in so that she is in a room with the furniture and everything that she will be familiar, and comfortable with. I'm taking her bedroom, her bed, her chest, and the wall hanging from the house. It's very clean. While I was there, I was introduced to someone there cleaning. Another thing that I like is they have sensors on the bed and the ceiling. If mom were to get up in the middle of the night there, the sensors from the bed would go off and I like that feature. One thing that makes me frown is how they charge. They charge an extra fee for getting a resident out of bed. That should be a natural part of assisted living for the elderly. I have to get the doctor to write something out to let them know mom's gonna need assistance, so I don't get charged that fee. Of the places I visited, they had the highest staff. I visited Whitewood three times and one was a surprise visit. There were residents playing bingo, which I thought was the cutest thing. One man ended up with a handful of snacks that he won from playing bingo. When I walked in, they didn't send me away. They welcomed me in, so there was nothing to hide, and I liked that. They have an actual chapel and religious services, even for the different denominations.

I liked Inn at Whitewood Village, and I liked everything I heard about them. The most difficult thing about them is they've got about a 2-year waiting list. The place itself was nice, and the people were very happy there.

The Inn at Whitewood Village was very lovely, beautiful, and resort-like, except that the apartments were very small. The staff seemed really nice. They had a little pub that doesn’t actually serve alcohol, but you can bring it in there, plus little rooms that you can hang out in and a movie theater. The food smelled delicious, and they had a grand piano, a fireplace, an aviary that looked very nice where you can sit and watch the birds. It was beautiful. They had a little gardening room and workshop, fresh-baked cookies every afternoon, and an R&R staff who seemed very nice. The location was very close to a grocery store. They didn’t have a kitchens in the rooms. You can get a two-bedroom that was pretty nice, but you can’t cook. It was very expensive.

The Inn at Whitewood Village is a very clean and very new facility. The room seemed to be a little bit more spacious than some of the other facilities. Those are the two things that really stood out -- the cleanliness and the spaciousness of the room. Everybody was very cordial and very nice. We did not try the food there. It seems a bit pricey, but it is a very nice place. The one resident we talked to there I believe has been there years and really loved it. It ended up being too pricey for us. Whitewood was the biggest and newest. It had the more spacious room and some of the newer exercise machines. It is more impressive to look at, and just being new is very impressive.

My mom is in The Inn at Whitewood Village. We chose it because it is the nicest facility that we saw, and it is new. It is very clean and very beautiful. There is plenty of parking space, and we have no problems with them. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and kind. They gave us a tour and explained everything. My husband and I have dinner there, and the food is good. They have something going on every day. They have papers every morning explaining what's going on that day, and they also have them monthly. They have happy hour on Friday evening and ice cream socials on Sundays. However, I think they should keep the Alzheimer's patients more separate from the assisted living people because my mom doesn't like that they are kind of everywhere.
