My mother moved to Governor's Pointe in Mentor last month. It's assisted living plus they have more of a long-term care kind of thing. Then they have six more different levels of that. They will take care of you if you're not ambulatory, if you are incontinent, if you need meals delivered to your room, that kind of thing. Then it tapers off from there. It is a nice venue, the area was nice, the gardens are nice, and just everything about it. It is clean, well-kept, and the staff is very polite. They interact with the residents well. There were activities for the residents and it was just very pleasant. They allow the family to come in and dine with the residents sometimes. I haven't eaten there, but my brother has and he thought that the food was very, very good. They have a beauty salon. They have lovely common areas, nice little gathering places for the residents. I saw people playing games and doing crafts, gathering for cards or games and that kind of thing.

The person who toured me in Governor's Pointe was very nice. Their hallways were narrow though and they had lots of turns or corners. I kind of felt like my dad would get lost in there. I got nervous when I was walking around thinking he's going to get lost because it kind of confused me too, but the rooms looked nice and they have the same amenities as they were for the others, and they were fine. The location also seemed OK and it was kind of pretty around there. It was very clean. I think they had outdoor courts, but they didn't have any front porches or things like that.

My sister is in hospice care at Governor's Pointe. she loves this place and the staff, especially Noel. They care for her like family. In fact better than our family could during these final months of her life. I highly recommend this facility. No matter the cost. It is worth it.

The people who work at Governor's Pointe seemed to be very receptive to our needs and my father's needs. He loves the food. He always tells me what a good dinner he has had and they have homemade desserts almost every day which he enjoys. He is not a big breakfast eater but he likes oatmeal cookies and they come in and they help him every morning. The nurses and staff are very polite and they poke their head in to make sure my father was okay. He usually has his door closed because he has a cat.

Governor's Pointe was about $1000 per month more expensive. Also if my mom has to go onto Medicaid, she would have to leave this facility. That was not good. We didn't like her to go there, pay more (which means her money would run out sooner), and then have to move her again. I don't like the idea that they don't have Medicaid beds. However, it was a lovely place. It was very nice and well kept. It was a one-floor, kind of a continuous building, so you can go all the way around in it. Their rooms were very lovely, but like I said, they were too expensive. I think a few more people there had dementia, so they weren't as interactive as some of the people where my mother is now. For my mom with her mind being fine, we don't want her to be in a place where she would be alone with no one to talk to. I would recommend this place but not as much as I would recommend the other one.
