I have had an overall good experience with Danbury since my father has been here. He enjoys socializing with other residents and says how personable the staff is. In my experience, staff has always been very friendly and helpful. They could use more activities throughout the day. But my dad receives great care and the meals are really great.

I toured Danbury Mentor. Their version of independent living is that you have to take on the burden of all the meals there. They have things available, then you pay for this and you pay for that. So it's not what I call independent living. I mean, you can have a car. It's pretty good, it's just that I realized it's very competitive. It's kind of pricey for someone who is in relatively good health. I'm still driving. I can still get around. I can do my own shopping and so forth. So I don't wish to be in my situation confined to a facility where everything is done for me. The staff was very helpful.

We've signed up for Danbury Mentor for my mother. I liked the caring nurses team. I watched how they would bring people down to the dining room, how they brought them back, and how they would communicate with them. I liked that a lot. A good plus is it's right next to a church that she likes. The priest comes over once a week and gives them the blessings, and she likes that a lot. It's pretty new. It's not an old place at all, so everything is updated. It hit everything that we thought we needed.

We chose Danbury in Mentor because of the location. It is clean and modern. The nurses and the staff members are friendly. My mom's apartment is very nice. It is a 1-bedroom that is big and modern with a bathroom and balcony. They have all types of activities from gathering with other people, arts and crafts, exercises, contests (like decorating contests), outings, and more. We had meals there, and the food is very good. They have all the amenities, including a hairdresser.

Danbury in Mentor was bright and cheerful. They had a couple of fun little things there, like a fish tank on one floor and another floor where they have little birds in a cage kind of thing, which I think would be great for seniors to take a peek and look at. There were just a lot of little spaces and things for people to do too. Jessica was really pleasant. She was a very nice young lady and upbeat. The others were also pleasant. The rooms were nice and comfortable. They had a little kitchenette area for my dad if he wanted to make a coffee pot or something like that, which is nice. They had mailboxes on the outside of the doors, which I thought were so clever too. It's like you got your own little house there, where you have a mailbox and people could get their own mail. That was cute. I was impressed with the facility.
