My mom is a resident of Brookdale Mentor. One of the big draws was that they have zero Covid cases so far. They also had immediate availability of a 1-bedroom which is what she wanted and needed. Maybe all of them have this, but she has this thing that she wears around her neck, that gives her immediate, like if she just wants a snack, it's not even an emergency thing. And she actually had a medical guardian thing when she was at home, but this is just to talk to people. I didn't talk to any other places because I was so happy with them, and they are one mile from my home. And my brother lives a mile from me so very, very close to him. And my sister lives a couple miles from me. So it was crazy, crazy convenient for us. This is during Covid, I've seen pictures. She has big huge windows with her room, it seems very, very sunny. Very friendly. Good accommodations, her living room area is very big, and it's homey, I guess. And the staff, she knows them all by name. It's only been a few weeks, she calls them and they come running. And they call me when the nurse examined her and talked to her the first time, she called me and said am I getting a good portrait of her, and they call me and they talked to me, and they text me. They seemed accommodating, they seemed aware, this nurse that talked to her seem to have a really good grip on her. My mom even though she is 92, she doesn't take any medication. And, she's pretty on top of things, so she's pretty easy. They gave me my own personal video tour; they actually made a video just for me. And then, the minute she moved in, they took a picture of her in there sitting at her little table and everything. Like they sent it the day they moved her in. They're very friendly and accommodating. For activities, all I know about is bingo. My mom has lived alone for long time. She just likes having someone outside her door. She's joining along little bit, but not a ton yet. They check on her every 2 hours, and they check on her in the middle of the night to make sure she hasn't fallen. And she can get in and out of the shower alone. The first week they made sure of that, they were there every time. And she doesn't have any medications. She can walk, she's gotta walker, so, she really doesn't have a higher level of care. She doesn't have any physical therapy or anything. She's 92, so they keep a close eye on her. She loves the food and they told me they haven't done it yet, but if the residents have like a favorite recipe, they will make sure that they get it on the menu within 3 weeks. They're actually gonna take more pictures of her room, because she said, ''Well I told them that there were only 2 pictures, and you couldn't see it very well''. So they're gonna take more pictures for me, I can see her room better.

Brookdale Mentor is the best one. The price is a little bit expensive, but I like their dementia unit. They have staff 24 hours a day, so that makes it nice. They have nurses too. They have different tiers of care, and their price is based on that. It was a nice breakdown, and we did appreciate the honesty. They were very clear on that. They are continually trying to update areas, so that's appreciated. The rooms get new carpets and things like that. They have an exercise area, but it's not very big. They have different physical therapies. The aides looked like they were very attentive. They were very busy. The facility was very clean. The memory care rooms could do some updating.

My dad is staying in Brookdale Mentor. What I like the best about the place is that the people are so kind and work well with the family. What I like least is the cost; it's expensive. I would suggest that they improve the quality of the food and listen to the residents more about the food. There should be less salt because it's very salty. They don't have enough staff, but the ones that are there really do their best to provide the best care. They have music, people coming in and playing the piano or singing, and they have bingo, Wii bowling, trivia, and exercises in the morning. They really try to keep everybody engaged. It's a really nice building.

Brookdale Mentor was more homey. It seemed to be a smaller facility, so it appeared as though the residents may have gotten a bit more attention. The lady who was walking me through and talking with me was greeting all the residents and people. She seemed like she knew all of them. They had activities. They were really promoting moving people out to eat together and be social. You can have meals in your room. I know that for the safety of the residents, they don't put a lot of cooking supplies in the rooms. They offer three meals a day and snacks at night.

Care and interactions by staff could be much better. Maybe it's because it is difficult to find staff and they will take a breathing body? There are a few caretakers that are good, but this is an area that can be greatly improved. Communication is an area of difficulty as well. Email returns and call returns or someone actually returning a call when they say they will doesn't happen consistently. Expect to have your fees jump after being their a while. The facility is nice, rooms are great, and the activities that are planned are wonderful. Food is good.

Brookdale Mentor was adequate. It's clean and the lady who gave the tour was extremely helpful and nice. They had activities. Like they had four or five things going on every day. I just didn't care for the lack of closet space in the room and that the rooms were kind of small.

The person that gave us the tour at Brookdale Mentor was very helpful. She took us into a private room before we even started walking around to explain their facility and what they have to offer, and then asked us if we had any questions before we took our tour, which I thought was very nice because we didn't know what we were looking for. Having a private conversation before we took the tour was very helpful. We were shown a couple of options as to different available rooms, the layout and the floor plan of the room, and what was available. That was very helpful to see exactly if it was going to be a good fit for my brother-in-law or not. I was impressed with Brookdale because they offered several options for that day for the residents to try. It was almost like going to a restaurant and picking out your food every day, so I thought that was very accommodating to the residents there also. The rooms were very clean, even the common rooms, the hallways, the dining rooms, and other gathering rooms. I was very impressed by how clean they were. I was very impressed with their facility.

I will be moving into Brookdale Mentor. It's assisted living, and it's within my range of financial ability. The people are very cordial. They have nice programs; I stayed for one on St. Patty's Day. I like the people mainly. They have card playing and checkers. They have musical groups come in and all kinds of different entertainment. The facility was very nice.

I toured Brookdale Mentor. It was a nice facility and seemed to be well-kept. The two folks that I met were extremely nice and very helpful and the rooms were nice. We looked at two rooms and a single 1-bedroom and they were both nice with a small kitchenette, a refrigerator, sink, and stuff that were very nice. They have a physical training lady, who is one of those two people I met, she did daily exercises with them. They had a large game room, they had a large cafeteria for them to eat. It's just a nice facility, with a nice courtyard in the middle of it. It's just their location, they're in a busy area and I'm afraid that if my mom were to get forgetful and try to wander away, it's by a busy highway. There's a lot of traffic in that area.

The people at Brookdale Mentor were very, very friendly. The lobby area was spacious and there were lots of little areas for the residents to gather and have activities. I loved the bright yellow wall color and the wider hallways didn't seem confusing. Brennan walked me through and then I had the opportunity to speak with Courtney, the activities director, and Heather. Another thing is, they have this health plus program that they just started, which I think sounds good. I enjoyed chatting with all the people that I've had the opportunity to meet. I also thought it was in a nice location since it's close to my brother who lives out in that area. So, I thought it was probably one of the best locations of the several places that I looked at.

Brookdale Mentor is a magnificent facility, and I would rate it a ten out of ten. It's very well-kept up, very clean, very nice to the eyes, the decor is very pleasant, and it's a very classy place. The price is reasonable. My father is there in the assisted living.

Upon arrival to the community I was welcomed with smiling faces and warm greetings. Kailyn took me under her wing and made sure I was comfortable with my room and surroundings. She made me feel safe when I had to shower and only was able to put weight on one leg. The nurses were very compassionate and caring and it showed every time they spoke to me in regards to medications or my wound. The nursing staff took the time out of there day no matter how busy they were to address my needs and concerns promptly. The RCA were all A+ in my book and all my needs meet, they kept my laundry done, bed made and room picked up. They always stopped in to check on me and make sure I was ok and having a good day. The dinning staff was amazing and very welcoming they got to know me and new what I liked. The staff made me feel like I was extended family. Therapy were wonderful and very skilled and I went from non-weight bearing to full weight bearing and walking around the building. Maintenance addressed any concern I had promptly without a delay. The residents were all welcoming and found a place for me at their table as well as their hearts.

My Uncle was a long term resident in this facility. He started in the Assisted Living section and as his dementia progressed he eventually moved to Memory Care. I visited him several times a week over the years that he lived there. This was an Emeritus facility when he moved in , and there were problems with keeping him clean and with theft. When Brookdale assumed ownership there was great improvement. His room was spacious and clean, he was engaged in activities and he was content. Staff was very caring. They informed me always when he had an incident and had him checked over by a nurse, and also by hospice staff. As time went on he refused food, but they kept ensure on hand for him and enjoyed his "chocolate milk." He felt secure and safe there. He must have been difficult at times as he would walk the halls at night, sometimes all night, and could get very stubborn and feisty. As a family member I felt that I was listened to, and most of the "problems" did not impact his overall care. There were some issues about laundry but those were resolved. He enjoyed the musical programs and later, just bouncing balloons around the living area with other residents. He also enjoyed visits with family and on occasion would sit and reminisce about the theater, or other places he'd been.

The rooms at Brookdale Mentor weren't quite as nice as the other place. The staff was very nice. The place was very clean and very nice. It was very appealing from the curb, but it seemed the other community was more well-suited for my parents' current state of health and their age. The dining area was nice. It felt like a comfortable setting, but it was not what I would call a formal eating area.

Our family experience with our loved one living in memory care at Brookdale Mentor has been very positive. It makes me very sad to see the negative reviews on here. I could not imagine our loved one being anywhere else because the care is wonderful and any concerns are addressed quickly. I think if the negative reviewer would talk to the community they would find that the concern is addressed and the communication would make a big difference. I also think we need to accept that the community can't change the disease which causes us all as loved ones so much pain that is sometimes directed in the wrong direction. Our family is very happy and hope you all can find peace.

Our mom has been living in the memory care for over a year. We are so happy with the care and compassion she is shown daily. We visit two to three times daily and are always happy with the associates, managers and most of all the wonderful care mom receives. The memory care staff at Brookdale Mentor are the best, we can't thank them enough for the love and compassion they show mom every day.

I would not recommend Brookdale of Mentor. I visited there on a regular basis of 2/3 times a week. The staff on the memory care unit is not trained properly to handle active dementia patients. They are better with non-ambulatory patients. Redirecting skills are extremely poor. Cleanliness is at a bear minimum. They have one full time janitor/maintenance person who is responsible for the whole building. The aides who are responsible for caring for your loved one are responsible for cleaning the unit also. There are two per shift except for 3rd shift. Feeding, changing diapers, washing and giving showers, doing laundry, setting up for meals, feeding some patients, cleaning up after meals, rounding up and watching patients, dressing, helping in and out of bed and cleaning the unit are just a few of tasks the 2 aides are responsible for on a unit that holds 15 patients. The heath and wellness administrator is very inexperienced in dealing with family members or loved ones. Attitude and defensiveness does not work in this setting. Please consider another memory care unit.

My mother was a resident in the assisted living area at Brookdale Mentor and, in general, it is a nice facility. However, when she started to exhibit signs of dementia, it was clear that she needed additional care. Unfortunately, this transition was not handled well by the staff at Brookdale Mentor. Administration and staff did not seem trained to handle a high-functioning resident with dementia, even giving her an antipsychotic medication to reduce her agitation instead of addressing the fundamental issue of her illness. Furthermore, as it is first and foremost a business, the cost of her care went up every month.

I would not recommend this location if you have a 'high-functioning' Alzheimer's family member!! They are more equipped to handle mobility issues, but not so equipped for the dementia patient. They did not do a good job at 'customer service'!!

My wife was in the memory care unit for about 5 months. There were many unresolved problems with her medications not being given when ordered. She was sent to the ER three times in the first three weeks due to medication problems. The place has very few activities for the patients. Most of the time they just sit in front of a TV. Clothing is lost, rooms are not cleaned and beds are not changed regularly. This is a locked unit but my wife got out and was found approximately 1/4-1/2 Mile away. I have moved my wife to another memory care facility. She has been there about 1 month with no problems. The new place knows how to take care of the patients. I regret the day I entrusted my wife's care to Brookdale Mentor. I would not put anyone that you love and care for in this place.

I would give this facility a 0 if I could. This place is dangerous and dirty. The memory care unit is a disaster!!!! Since brookdale has taken over the ride has been continuously DOWN. The residents do nothing but watch tv. In the old days there were crafts, cards and games. Each time I visit they are doing nothing but watching the tube. No one there wants to talk to you. Many, almost all, of the former employees that we came to know and trust have been fired or have left. PLEASE do not subject your loved one to this facility.

I visited Brookdale and it would be easier to say what I didn't like; that was nothing. I liked the rooms. The dining area was nice. It was clean, neat, and had a homey atmosphere. They had services that they gave the residents to go shopping and stuff like that. They do a lot of activities.

I have a relative living there at the moment and highly agree with one of the August reviews I just read. The aides are not properly trained and there are few of them available. They do not help bathe the resident even though that is part of the care we are paying for. Items are always missing from the laundry and things have disappeared from my relatives room. Narcotics are one thing that was stolen and nothing was done about it. The food is consistently bad and the rent continues to increase. The cleaning is insufficient and complaints get you absolutely no where. The residents rooms do not get cleaned and the bathrooms never seem to get cleaned. I requested the shower be cleaned and all they did was rinse it with water. Very unsanitary. Carpet is rarely vacuumed in the halls and never in the residents rooms. As far as ringing for help the wait is a good 30 minutes. If it was a serious call the resident could die in that time. Highly unsatisfied and would not recommend to anyone.

We are currently in process of locating another facility for our parent. The management at this location seems to be more concerned about the bottom dollar rather than a residents needs and their dignity. Continuously understaffed. Long wait times for assistance (over 30 minutes or more with no response), do not clean residents perineal area well, when at all, leaving them vulnerable to UTI's. Have witnessed aides taking incontinence products from our parent's room to use on other residents, although we pay extra charge monthly for this. Have notified management on numerous occasions. Missing articles of clothing, 8 at last count. Management keeps saying they will search and locate. 3 months later never found and returned. Rooms rarely cleaned and when it is, inadequate to say the least. Have no complaints with activity director. Most nursing staff seems capable. Aides are NOT trained well at all. Management here unresponsive. MANY broken promises. Do not get the care we are paying for. Very disappointed. Look elsewhere.
