We moved Mom to The Villages of Huber. Mom is receiving much better care at this facility than where she came from. The staff is very caring and attentive, making her feel more than welcome as a new resident. I did not have a meal there, but she is very happy with the food served there. The activities are great. There's always something going on to keep them motivated as it's a memory care center. Her room is fabulous. They have an outside Florida room and a really nice outside patio area. It's a memory care, so it's a locked facility. The staff is always out and about, so you don't have to worry about safety at all. It's a 22-bed facility with rooms still available. They're not completely full. I think this is probably the best-kept secret in this area. It's very affordable, and staff to patient ratio is great. I couldn't be happier.

The Villages of Huber gave me a tour of their memory care. They didn't have any openings at that time, but they anticipated one within a couple of months, which was fine. It would work for my mom. I think it's a small facility, so it's a little more intimate, which is good for her. And then they gave me a tour of assisted living quarters and other areas that had a little bit more freedom, where she could live in a little apartment by herself. That seemed okay, too, but she would have to bring in her own room furniture and things like that, which would have been fine. Other than that, they were very friendly. If she would end up there, I wouldn't have minded it. It would have been nice. They had a few staff there, but I saw them standing around and not doing a whole lot. They were congregated, and they were laughing and joking with each other. And that's fine, but I just wondered if somebody needed something for the hour that I was there, they were all right there in one spot. I never saw them walking down the hallways or anything. The facilities were nice, though. What I like the best is that it's a small setting. It wasn't like a high number of residents, so I think you get a little more personal care, at least in the memory care area. They were at full capacity, but I will say that it wasn't very large for that memory care area.

My mother has moved into Landings of Huber Heights. What I like most about it is, it's not brand new, but it's homey. It's got a home feeling to it, and I like that. We've had limited interaction with the staff, but so far so good. They've been attentive to my mother, which is what I'd rather be. I have to call for updates and stuff like that, but they seem to have knowledge of her care and how she's doing, and that kind of stuff. There have been a couple of things that they could have taken care of before she got into her room, but I understand the extenuating circumstances that were involved in it. I'm comfortable with her being there. I don't know all of their activities, but I do know they have like morning activities like exercising and stuff like that. The calendar of activities is full every day. If you look at the calendar of activities, it's probably got six or more activities on it per day. I think that's great; you can participate if you want to. When we first went there, they were going to make cookies and have hot chocolate, and the activity staff was taking care of that, so I thought that was pretty cool. We haven't eaten there, but my mother has, and that would be a major improvement from what she was doing at home. It's reasonable. From other places that are out there, they've been very reasonable about the price.
