Room was great but they are short on private rooms. Staff was responsive and did their jobs well. Physical and Occupational Therapists were excellent and helped my family member greatly. Administration was available and responsive to concerns and requests. Dietary needs a little attention.

My husband was in Altercare of Hartville Ctr For Senior Living more than once. He was there for short-term care after hip and knee replacements, he was also there for a longer duration of time for cellulitis. All the times he was there, he got very good nursing care. The staff was very accommodating, they listen to your concerns, were always friendly, if he had certain goals to meet, they did their best to help him meet those goals, and were very pleasant. We never had any unpleasant experience there. Overall, we were satisfied with them.

The hospital recommended this place for my mom for short term rehab. While the therapy staff was very good, the rest of the staff could use improvement. If I had not visited every day, mom would not have gotten the care she needed. She had to fend for herself when I wasn't there. They use agency nurses so the nurses do not know the residents well. Also, supervising nurses have a real attitude. House doctor changed some of mom's meds while she was there and we had to work with her PCP to get them straightened out. On top of all this mom and I both got the stomach flu while she was there and nothing was done to control the spread of it. Not a good place at all!!!! Go somewhere else.

While the staff was friendly and the care was good, the billing has been an ongoing nightmare. My Grandmother was there and she not only had Medicare, but she also had private insurance which covered all additional bills that Medicare didn't. They never billed the other insurance and took me to court not once but twice. Once for the stay and the second for the medications. I have repeatedly asked why the insurance wasn't billed for either of these and have gotten no response except for my tax refund to be taken. So, if you're into a long, frustrating fight, then this is the place for you.

I was at Altercare of Hartville Center for three months. I was there in a bedroom with another person. We went to meals and various things, like the available entertainment. The staff was OK and doing well. The food was OK, too. They had various games, a library, newspapers, and magazine.

My husband has been in Altercare for 3 weeks. It’s a lovely place, and everybody is very friendly. The residents get to know each other, so it’s very community-oriented. I think it’s a good fit for him. The staff is very helpful. They anticipate what you need, and they come and check on you all the time. They adopt these people so they’re all very nice to each other. He’s in a very nice and big shared room. I haven’t eaten there, but my husband doesn’t complain, and he’s a big eater. The dining area is very well decorated, very clean, spacious, and has windows. They have enough aides to help people to eat, and none of that is a problem. They bring in different foods once a week so they’re eating like a hamburger and fries from their favorite fast food restaurant, and they have fun with that. They also do excursions out and look at things or go to a concert, and you can join in that if you want to.
sad to this day

The therapy side of Altercare is great but the medical side is awful. My father was there for a month before his doctor (provided by insurance) was there to see him. By that time my father had a full blow bed sore that when I took him out of Altercare and into the hospital they told me his sore was not taken care of properly. (good thing they have a bed sore nurse to handle this kind of problem:( ) Yes they have some who work there that are very caring but its not necessarily from the administration. Its been almost a year since my dad died and I still hurt when I think of the needless pain he endured because there was no one there who could give him the medical attention he needed.

My grandmother went from the hospital to Altercare. It was a rehab place. The front of the door was nice when you walk in for the people that work there but then they throw their patients in the back in the room with no television, there's hardly a window and no decorations on the wall. It was not even painted. It was very "one flew over the cuckoo's nest." So anybody that is sitting there by themselves 24 hours a day in a room like that is going to deteriorate. It was not a good environment. There was poop in the toilet. The people that worked there really didn't care. For them, it was just a job and they just went there and did it and they weren't even good at it. They have attitudes, etc. The staff was not good. I would not recommend this place. I had a bad experience with them. I think my grandmother deteriorated because of the lack of care that she received while she was there. They did not give her any care and they just stuck her in the back in the corner.
