The rooms are spacious and you have your own room and bathroom. The staff cleans your room twice a week and the food is really good. We even have ribs sometimes. They have activities Monday through Friday and throw a lot of special events like bbq parties back to school events for the kids. We even have an Easter egg hunt and Halloween for the kids. A really nice place to live and alot of fun. The staff is always so friendly and helpful

Nursing staff and aids are excellent. They are always professional and made my family member feel welcome from day 1. The facility is not as flashy as some other places, but the car is excellent!

There are a few nice size rooms, some medium size and then there is sardine can size. There is hardly no communication with staff because most of the time when I come to visit I can not locate anyone. My father has had a very painful foot for over a month and has asked several times for someone to look at it. I got lucky and found someone and asked also. Still nothing and it is getting worse. I know they have an activity once a week but he stays in the room because he says a lot of them smell like dirty diapers. He has a phone line and cable outlet in his room, thank God. He is always hungry and i buy him a lot of snacks because the food portions are very small AND in 4 months they have moved his 5 times. He doesn't have Alzheimer but he isn't in the best of health. I would move him but don't have many options

My aunt was staying at the cottages of Clayton, in the rehab cottage, the building is out of date, very old decor.every time I came to visit my aunt the aides looked over worked, I’ve seen them washing dishes and cleaning rooms the aide that was caring for my aunt was the same person cleaning my Aunts room “housekeeping “ the aides have many hats they’re wearing, with this being said what level of care was my aunt or current/future residents getting if the aides have many task to complete. I do not recommend this facility if your looking for your love one.

My mom fell while at unassisted facility so she thought assisted living would be best. However, she's fallen about 3 times in her 6 month living at COC and unfortunately there's no emergency alert to notify staff. In addition she is severely depressed because the food is not nutritious. She's used to fruits and vegetables. I understand this is a low income facility, however I agree with my mom "seniors fed corndogs several times a week for dinner" is not acceptable. Seniors require a balance meal with at least 2 servings daily of both fruit & vegetables, dairy, etc. She is stressing the family because we can't help with the malnutrition she is suffering due to non interest in eating foods served. If she had a kitchenette & fridge she'd be able to cook. Now she Is frantically searching for a better facility. Is there anyone else family member complaining?

The Cottages was not good at all. We had an appointment, and the administrator didn't show up. When they took us on a little tour, it was smelly and dirty, and the people didn't look like they were getting attention. The common areas were unkept and in need of updating.

Toward the end of my mother passing, she didn’t want to leave The Cottages. She wanted to stay there because she could no longer care for herself. She was into the early stages of Alzheimer’s and then she just stopped eating; so they made it where she didn’t have to move again. She ended up spending her dying days there and so they made accommodations for my mother. The staff was great. They had bingo there for her and my sister Linda used to go buy little gift for the people like when they won the bingo game. She just did that on her own because they took a good liking to my mother. They have bus rides too. They take the people to places but I don’t think my mother ever did any of that. I think they had like a cleaning facility where they would clean the people’s room but my sisters did that for my mother on their own. I have two sisters down in Dayton and I used to go there once a month because I live in Columbus. My sisters used to come and get my mother laundry and do her laundry for her; they just didn’t want the workers to have to care for her like that. I would recommend this place to anyone who needed a place to stay. It was big enough that you could feel comfortable. You had enough space; you could even walk amongst the grounds. They had a place where you could sit and enjoy the sunlight. I think if I was in my 80's and I don’t want a house or anything to care for, I would love to stay there myself so that would be my recommendation. My mother was very happy. When she went there she said she liked the place and when we had hospice to come they even made a comment that it was a nice place.

This is a very well kept Living Center. The staff, from management to to maintaince people take great pride in their work. There was not one time that i was there to see a dear friend that i ever noticed one person slacking off. Every resident had each and every need and concern adderessed in a timely and proper mater. The meals were outstanding. The medication was dispenced properly and on time. There is even so much activity planned for the residents. The facility even planned outings for the residents. They were helped on and off a bus used to transport them with the utmost concern for their saftey
