I was a resident at this facility for seven months. There were some very good staff members who took good care of me. Scott and Gwen both nurses , treated me very well. The nurse Practioner Sarah was also very good. I found that the speech therapist Rhonda also knew what she was doing.Joanne, a nurse’s aid was my angel and also took good care of me. My good comments end there. I had as many bad health care workers taking care of me, especially on the third shift. Two third shift aids were taking care of me and hurting me. I told them that how they were doing the process was causing me pain. Their response was well we have to do it. Not compassionate at all. They treated my roughly like I was a box of rocks. I was in a room with another patient who would use the call button when they needed assistance. At times it would take an hour to get someone to help them. Many times residents would have to verbally yell “help” to try to get someone to see what they needed. I only went there due to the severity of my condition. I developed a condition that required surgery do to their neglect. I did not want to return after the surgery. I found a MUCH better nursing home and was transferred to it. My family had to contact the state several times about their practices at St. Augustine. I was on a tube feed so I was not able to comment on the food. I can say that the facility was kept clean. The worse part was the staff, the bad outweighed the good. There are suggestions about what to include in this review. One question is what activities do the residents enjoy, that’s easy it is leaving there!!!

St. Augustine Towers was fine, but my mom could not stay there anymore because she had a fall and she had to go into an assisted living facility. They were more of an independent level. Other than that, they were great. My mom was only there for three weeks. They had nurse on staff. They gave their meals. As far as the facility and the way they run their program were great, but my mom needed an assisted living level. For what their provided and what their level of care that they had, they were fine. They run their program and they were great at that, but my mom needed a stronger level of care.

I visited St. Augustine Health Campus. It‘s very big and didn’t feel as homey. The staff is very professional, caring, and compassionate. My mother-in-law likes the food there, and they do a pretty good job of offering alternatives. They offer exercises, current events, lots of crafts, and a craft show, and they do games. They also have an activity room that is beautiful.

My mother is going to go to the St. Augustine, which is an assisted living facility. The staff was very helpful. The rooms are normal sized like a regular apartment. The dining room has a very nice setup with tables, chairs, and linen on the tables. What impressed me most is the friendliness of the people. They got security all over the place. In fact, at 9:00 at night, they lock the doors. If you want to get in or out, you have to go through security.

St. Augustine Towers was like an apartment building. It had individual rooms, and there were common areas that were nice. The staff was nice. I was full of questions, but they were very forthcoming. They gave me pricing right up front, which a lot of places don't do. The residents were also nice.

The staff is always friendly and personable. The residents all seem happy and well taken care of, and during her three year stay, my aunt has never had any serious complaints. There is ample security, including guards, video surveillance, and electric doors. There is always staff on call, there to assist whenever needed. There have been a few occasions where the hallways did smell of urine. I spoke to the supervisor, and she was apologetic. On all four occasions, I would return a few days later, and the smell would be gone. The facility offers church, activities, and beautiful rooms. The area isn't choice, but this can be overlooked somewhat on account of the security on the premises. The facility is owned by catholic charities, but they don't try to push their religion on anyone, even though the only church services offered there are catholic. The facility is located on the 26 bus line, only minutes from a rapid station. There are several convenient stores int he area, as well as supermarkets, fast food restaurants etc.

I feel that the facility is able to accommodate everything that my grandmother needs. I give the staff there my complete trust and I know my grandmother enjoys her stay there.

I have visited the facility several times during last year. I had an impression that the facility is understaffed .There was an unpleasant smell in corridors. The facility seemed to be dimly lit and it was very hot in the facility. There seemed to be not enough nursing staff to provide for the needs of the residents. Overall, though, the facility appeared to be reasonably clean and safe. The menu options provided for the resides were good, the cafeteria was clean and neat. There is a chapel at the facility and residents are offered a variety of daily activities such as bingo games, arts and crafts. There are a few restaurants, shops and a library located near this facility. The nursing staff and aides were friendly with the residents and visitors. Residents' rooms were reasonable clean and neat. They also regularly invite a barber and a hairdresser to provide haircuts and styling to residents.
