I visited this facility

The people at The Inn at Walker Mill were very nice. The residents were just coming back from some sort of bus trip. I don't know where they went, but they walked in and all of them were jabbering together. They were all talking and then they saw they had visitors so they immediately came up to welcome us to their building. They were very pleased to be there. They thought they were in a cool facility, which I liked. The management was a little bit more standoffish, but not in a bad way. They were more particular in what details they would tell you because they didn't want to violate anybody's privacy. So they were generalized in what they would say and if you asked a specific question, they would question you again saying, "Well, what do you mean?" They wouldn't give you a straight answer, but we got the answers we needed. It was just like pulling teeth to get them to talk. That particular building has a three-floor plan. The second floor is mainly where most of the residents live. Then to get downstairs, there was a huge staircase and they could walk down it, but I saw most people take the elevator and that would have been something my mother would be uncomfortable with because she doesn't like small places like elevators and she wasn't in a position at that time to be able to walk up and down stairs. The rooms were midway in size. It looked like it had more open spaces. The top part of the wall would have been cut off so that the room looked larger, but they had the bottom part sectioned off. So you knew this was the bedroom part or this was the living room part. The bathroom and the little kitchenette were also sectioned off to the side corner. It was nice. It was a good arrangement. It's big enough for my mom so it would have been great for her. If it just wasn't on the second floor, we might have liked it. The other thing that was a little bit of a drawback there was the first and second floor seemed to be for the skilled nursing and assisted living people and then the third floor was for people with mental problems. I asked how they interact with the first and second-floor people and she said "They don't.", but I was wondering how they keep them partitioned off. While we were there during the visit, we did not see that. It was a place we would have had to go back to to see a second time to make sure that there wouldn't have been any unfortunate incidents with two types of population that are there. The facility was very clean and very neat. The building was top-notch and in pristine condition.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad lives in The Inn at Walker Mill. It's a beautiful community and it was built in 2008. Everybody seems friendly and pleasant there, and the residents seem grateful. When I go there to visit strangers ask me how I'm doing and things like that, and the staff is always on top of everything. They have all kinds of activities, and they have so many things going on up there that it's unbelievable. The food is excellent. When I visit I smell the food, but I don't hang around because then I'd get hungry. Their facilities are excellent, they have exercises, places for seniors to read books, TV rooms, and so on. There's a free phone in your room, it's a big room with your own shower, and a bathroom and everything. My dad is happy. The room is big. It's like an efficiency apartment and everything is clean inside and out. The elderly people greet me when I come in. They also have a doctor and he's a saint.

I visited this facility

We liked Commons at Greenbriar, but they had no availability. The place was very clean, and the people were very nice. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. If there's a new resident, they replace the carpet and repaint the walls.

I visited this facility

The Commons at Greenbriar is very clean. The director has been very accommodating and helpful with the move-in details. The residents are involved in planning day-to-day activities. The menu is varied, but it looks like the food that is served meets everybody's satisfaction. My dad is a very picky eater, but if you don't like something on the menu, there are other choices, like chicken sandwiches or hamburgers. I think it's a very good thing to have the residents participate in things that they really like; I think that's very beneficial.
