We placed our mom here after the loss of her husband/our dad, during a difficult behavioral phase of her dementia. The entire staff and their professional program continues to provide a very nice, safe and clean home environment for her. They are sincere and consistent in any communication needed with families, and I was very impressed with the variety of daily in-house and outing activities offered to the residents. I live quite far away from mom, and knowing she's living here is a huge reassurance.

Lutheran Village was definitely just assisted living, so everybody was pretty independent. They had their own little suites, and even their smallest suite was pretty big, but they serve meals there and they have entertainment, they take them to their doctors, and the thing my father liked about it was there was no skilled nursing there. But that was the bummer because if you have to go out for skilled nursing, you'll still have to figure out what to do, and he is 88 years old, so that could happen at any time that he might need skilled nursing. Two of the staff took us on tours and answered all our questions. We took him for a tour just to give him something to look forward to if it is feasible down the line . We were there for the evening, and there were probably seven staff members there. I thought it was nice.

My mother is at the Lutheran Village and she's been there for 2 + years. She's 92 years old and starting to get a little dementia, but she's relatively alert. She was just having some troubles and needed help with her medicines, and that's why she's in there. My mother is very happy there. She's got a lot of friends and the staff takes excellent care of her. I have no complaints and would never move her. They can keep her as long as she's not a danger to herself, or if she ends up with Alzheimer's, then she has to go somewhere else because they don't have the facility for that. But they have hospice care, if she gets to that point and will take care of her until she passes.

Lutheran Village seems to be a quiet assisted living home. The rooms are nice with one or two bedroom rooms. After my grandfather passed my grandmother decided to move into a small room and the staff helped to accommodate the move. The staff is friendly but not as attentive to the residents as I would like. They provide lots of activities for the residents that are able and they have a very good dining room with good food. Whenever I visit there are always cookies and juice available for everyone. Off the dining room there is a quiet room with a large table that family and friends can reserve in order to have a family dinner together. We have used this room several times over the holidays. Over all my family and I have been pleased with Lutheran Village although it is rather expensive. However, with all the options and amenities, it was a good choice for my grandparents.
