Nursing Home Communities in Fond Du Lac, WI

"My mom has been in Bethel Home for 10 weeks now. The food looks good, my mother likes it, and it was institutional cooking. Her room was very much like a hospital room; it was small, and it had a toilet, closet, and TV. You’ve got 24/7 RN care and a handful of CNAs on duty to attend to her medical and hygiene needs. She seems to be happy there for the most part. Mom was getting OT and PT for rehab, and the staff was very helpful and very professional, but there were a number of young people who were there just for a job. "

"Christian Home & Rehabilitation Center is a new facility. They can't take my relative in right now, because of the nursing shortage and COVID. We are thinking of choosing this place because he gets more square footage for a room. So it's kind of an actual living area that's acceptable. They have everything available right there. They have haircuts, if he has to go to rehab it's right there, and the nursing home is right there if he ever has to move over. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, and she showed us all the benefits of living there. They have snacks throughout the day and things like that. The facility is very nice. They keep all the assisted living in one section, the nursing home in another section, and rehab in a separate section. If they can go through the little store that is in there, they can go to any of the little shops that are in there. They have some little shops there. It's only a couple of years old, so it's very clean. It feels more like a home for my relative, and I would recommend them to anybody."

"I went to Eden Rehab when I had my surgery. It’s a very nice place, and the food was good. Their staff was excellent. I had a good experience. "

"My brother is in Edenbrook Oshkosh for rehab. They're taking very good care of him. He's comfortable there and he's settled in. The staff is good. They listen. If I have a problem with something, they take care of it. They have been very helpful and pleasant. My brother doesn't have any problems with them. They have an activity guy. It's a single-story building. It's an old building, but they redid the inside."

"The rooms sizes are GREAT. Lots of room for visitors and if not they have rooms you can reserve easily. Management and Nursing staff are nice and come around. Yes, a lot of people for one nurse and CNAs and short staffed. I think that’s everywhere. The environment is nice. Floors are new. They have activities, Elvis, parties, crafts. Nice to mingle with others. Just to get out of the room. Food could be better. I saw people order in. I think it is nice."

"Fountain View is a very caring community. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They are very kind and generous. You can tell that every one on the staff loves their jobs because of the smiles on their faces. Like most other nursing homes they have an activity time. There are several different games they play. My daughter likes to jump in and play when the residents are rolling the giant ball to each other. The residents enjoy her playing with them too. We also enjoy their giant bird cage full of finches. We could sit for hours watching them. There's also several other games we play with the residents like board games, card games, and puzzles. Fountain View is a very clean, organized place. Everything is always very well put together. It's just like home; there's comfortable places to sit, a TV that the residents are able to watch together, and a fancy dining area that most, but not all, of the residents ate in. Some would eat in their rooms and others in front of the big TV. The food is very delicious. Once in awhile I would be there on an off day and the food wouldn't be very good, but all in all I loved it. I always loved looking through my grandmas window when she was there because of the view. You could see the school children playing out in the field next door and the birds, once in while a squirrel or rabbit, eating at the bird feeders. Several residents chose to have feeders put outside their window so they could watch, but others didn't. I think its nice that the residents can have that feature. Overall Fountain View is a great place for the elderly to stay at. I would highly recommend it to anyone. "

"My mother was at Whispering Pines rehab nursing, and when things progressed where the rehab was no longer appropriate, she went to strictly nursing, and that was her very short period of time before she passed away. I was very pleased with them. My mother was there during Covid restrictions. She was quarantined for two weeks when she first went there, which was appropriate. The nursing staff and everybody who came in contact with her were fully masked, gowned, and gloved. I can't say enough about their Covid protocols. We as family members were not allowed in the facility, but because it is on one floor, we were able to do window visits with her, and the staff was very accommodating for that. When it got to the end-of-life, they contacted us. Their communication was excellent, so it wasn't a surprise that end-of-life was happening. When we really did get to where it was going to be over soon, they said, "Yes, absolutely, when we get to this point, we have family members if they wish to come in." We were fully gowned, we were facemasked, and we wore shields as well to go into my mom's room. We were escorted in and out, we touched no surfaces, and the sign in and sign out was done by a staff member. Their Covid protocols were excellent, and the care was excellent as well. The communication between staff and myself about my mom, I was also very, very pleased with. There were care meetings that were generally every two weeks, what the update was, what had been happening, and what the plan was going to be."

"My father-in-law was at Homestead Care Center before he passed away a couple of months ago. They had a great and wonderful nursing staff. It was a very caring place. It was a little bit larger, and they had two floors. They had a lobby, and they had several bigger visiting areas in the facility. The rooms were great. They did a wonderful job. "

"A lot of people go to Willowdale for rehab. Overall, it was just fine. We did not really see a lot of things, but it was nice and cozy. It was a nice place to be. They have an assisted living across the street. The rooms and the surroundings were very pleasant. "

"My mom is at Rocky Knoll Health Care. I chose that place because of the amount of activity and the thoughtful kindness of the people. The care there is exceptional. My mom never wanted to go into a nursing home; all her life she said that. Once she went out there, I said to her, "I thought you never wanted to go to a nursing home" because she was having a good time there, and she said, "This is not like a nursing home." It's wonderful. She's been accepted, and she's happy. The staff is wonderful. Every single person she has worked with has been compassionate, thoughtful, and kind. Linda, her day nurse, is just wonderful. If anything changes, she calls me. Pam, the admitting lady, couldn't have done more wonderful. Dan, the social worker, also couldn't have been more wonderful. As far as the food goes, I would say that I was almost a little offended that she ate more out there than she ate of my home cooking. She's doing a wonderful job, is happy, and thriving with people her own age. She's way more conversational than she was before. She was pretty much quiet and trying not to get in anyone's way. Now, she's bubbly, friendly, and joking around. I could not be happier with that place. "

"My mother-in-law is temporarily staying at Atrium, and I think it's very good there. The staff is great, wonderful, and caring. It's also closer to our house. She doesn't need as much care as what she's given there, but I wish she could stay there."

"I toured this facility and was pleasantly surprised by the offering. It's incredibly clean, bright and airy. The staff is well skilled and highly interactive with the clients and attentive to their needs. There is even an RN on staff to address clients' health issues that arise. Markesan Resident Home not only offers Assisted Living but also Nursing Home Care. And, recently a new chef was hired so the food offering is flavorful and delicious! I was so impressed by my visit to Markesan Resident Home and am considering it as one of the best options for my mother. "

"My mother is in Cedar Community for rehab. It's a very good facility. She likes the staff, she's getting good therapy, the food is very good, and the living conditions are very nice. It's very clean. It's a very nice facility that's not rundown. They keep it very clean and well-attended except for weekends. It's short-staffed on the weekends, but that's normal anywhere. She'll be discharged tomorrow."
