I visited this facility

I liked the large one-bedroom, bath, and a half apartment that Holiday Gardens at Wakefield has. I love the layout. I like their kitchens. Tina, the lady that showed me around, was nice. We talked a lot. She told me a little bit about her background and her husband, and I told her about mine. She took me around and showed me the different apartments and she seemed excited to have me there. That's one thing I like about it. She is also knowledgeable. She knows her apartments and things. She knows exactly what's going on. Plus, they have tankless water heaters there. The food was good. It just didn't seem quite as tasty.

The community feels more like home than others we toured. The grounds are beautiful. Staff has been accommodating and warm. There have been many opportunities for my dad to become involved. Residents report enjoying living at Holiday Gardens. As a loved one, access to staff is fantastic.

When we went to Holiday Gardens for the first time in July, we were quite impressed. We were greeted very professionally and Tina is wonderful. The facility is lovely -- inviting, very clean, has amenities and the residents we met appeared to be well-adjusted and very content. I will soon be moving my parents into Holiday Gardens in a newly-renovated apartment and feel a level of comfort that they will be well attended to.

I toured Holiday Gardens at Wakefield. I felt the community was extremely nice. It was very clean. The people were very helpful and friendly. I had a lot of information. They had no problem when I asked questions. I was able to get the answers. The apartment looked very nice. If my grandmother comes down and she's able to still stay independent, I would definitely want her to go there. The staff is extremely friendly. I was introduced to folks that live there and they look as if they were extremely happy being there. What I really liked was the garden outside with the flowers that were there, and how the community plants. They have projects to plant their own gardens and things of that nature. I was extremely impressed. When I walked in, it kind of felt very warm and inviting because of how the building was decorated. The layout was nice and the size of the room is big enough for one individual.

My Mom lives far from me and suffered falls in her two story home, leading to many hospital trips. I flew "home" to sell her house and find the best place for her at her age of 79. Holiday Gardens at Wakefield stood out to me after much touring as the most appropriate place for her safety, independence, and socialization. Of course, being across the coast, I worried about leaving her there. I am so happy to say that my mom has thrived at Holiday Gardens. She is more social and happy in her new setting, meeting many friends of her age that are still independent. She constantly brags about the meals she gets. She has transformed from a woman that insisted in staying in her original home into a woman that loves senior apartment living. I also can't say enough about the staff that helped me during this emotional transition and who continue to email me about mom's activities and engagement. The rent is very low compared to other places I considered. I give my highest recommendation!

A warm and inviting community with caring, friendly staff. The rooms are lovely and spacious with full kitchens and new appliances. I love the restaurant style dining with 3 delicious meals a day serving chef cooked meals. Laundry service and cleaning is such a huge help with my everyday living. There are plenty of activities planned for the days that living the best of life and making new friends and socializing. Is so fulfilling. These are just a few of the wonderful things I love about this Gardens community.

Built for Senior Housing on 12800 Spruce Tree Way, are 120 apartments. I have always wanted to see the inside of the Gardens at Wakefield. Here I am in 2024 as a 3/4% age of a Senior. I have had the pleasure of touring and renting my dream apartment home. Little did I know how kind and receptive this community would be. Filled with activities, lovely living spaces, recently renovated, numerous amenities, with 3 meals a day. The campus also has beautiful canopies of River Birch trees and shrubs. Come on over, you won't regret it.

I was very impressed with the Gardens at Wakefield when I toured it for my parents. It is a clean, modern facility with a beautiful garden and surprisingly large apartments. My parents were able to move into a newly renovated apartment overlooking the garden. It's so nice that they will have weekly housekeeping and all meals included! The staff and residents have been kind and welcoming to my parents as they settle in. We like how close the Gardens is to lots of shopping, a great library, and YMCA.

We are thrilled that the apartments have full kitchens, even though the dining room offers delicious meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The apartments are very generous and cheerful. I was shocked to realize this place would work out for my parents due to the extra services that are available in the building. Since physical therapy and the home health care services are offered right here, I am able to tag team care for my parents and keep them out of a nursing home. The cost savings is tremendous (A nursing home price tag would be $9K for each parent) and the quality of life is beyond what I thought could be possible. To be sure this is not an "old folks home". It is modern, bright, and sunny. Many residents drive and live very independently. My parents are just out of rehab and are thriving here now due to the cheerful atmosphere and wonderful care they are getting here at the Gardens. They have also met terrific friends. I encourage any caregiver of a family member to take a tour here and see for yourself. The staff creates a family atmosphere which gives me peace of mind when I am not there.

My mother chose Holiday Gardens at Wakefield. I thought it was friendly. It's newly renovated. The people that we met staff-wise were nice. The residents that we met were friendly and nice. We met a lady that had only been there two days and she loved it. Then we met somebody just in passing who happened to be in the hallways when we were walking by, and he introduced himself. He has been there for over five years, and he had relatives who just moved there as well. The rooms were nice sized. They're not too small and not too claustrophobic. It's an older apartment set up that has been converted to senior living. I thought it was a good amount of space where my mother wouldn't feel like she was losing space. They had a nice garden in the back of the building that's set up like a walking path all the way around. I thought that was nice to give people an opportunity to be outside and not just sitting on the front porch or sitting on their balconies. The other thing that I liked about it was every unit had a balcony or a porch-type situation where the people could actually sit outside and just go outside their own place, which I thought was cool. That's not always the case in all places.

My mother lived at The Gardens for four years. Throughout those years, the resounding reason for her contentedness was the sincere care with which she was treated by both staff and fellow residents. Whether a simple hello, how are you, or the settling of any particular issue, the staff was always warm, welcoming, and responsive. The community is joyful and authentically caring. The residents know and engage with one another. They look out for each other and keep each other in their hearts and prayers, especially if one is ill. The facilities are clean and welcoming. The maintenance director is top notch and fixes anything in a timely manner. Both the Chef and Activity Director are fun, approachable, listen and plan according to residents’ desires. The administrative staff is phenomenal. They truly listen, engage and problem solve. Each is always there to help or to simply convey their authentic appreciation of each individual. My mother loved living atThe Gardens. It was home and family.

The rooms are spacious with a full kitchen and great size pantry. The balcony is a good size and is nice for sitting with your morning coffee and listening to the birds. The staff is amazing, always happy to help and offer assistance when needed. They will even deliver food to the room when not feeling well. They have life music on certain days and create an atmosphere of fun and celebration. It is nice to be able to get your hair cut, a pedicure and a blood pressure check. I highly recommend the Gardens at Wakefield.

My mother has lived @ The Gardens for 5+ years and loves it there. We find the staff to be like extended family, so very kind and caring. Mom was there throughout the pandemic and they did a fantastic job protecting residents from the virus and communicating frequently about their efforts to keep everyone healthy. They have had at least 5 community vaccination events and offered this to caregivers staff and residents alike. My mother has unique challenges of deafness and blindness and often needs extra support- though this is an Independent Living facility they make every effort to include mom and make sure she feels comfortable and safe. We are blessed to have chosen this special community.

Our stay at the Gardens at Wakefield was short but very satisfactory. Our apartment was roomy, with in apartment washer and dryer, large bathroom and shower. The residents were very friendly and we quickly got to know many. The staff were efficient and work well as a team. They are very attentive to the residents needs and concerns. The facility has been recently renovated and is inviting and comfortable. The food was very good with options at every meal. The campus is beautiful with a large garden to enjoy. We would have been happy to stay there. The reason reason we moved was to be much closer to family. Having moved to the Gardens from California even a few miles closer to family was important. We recommend the Gardens at Wakefield for a comfortable retirement experience.

My mother was a resident at The Gardens for the last 9+ years. She has now moved to an assisted living facility because she needs more help with her daily living. My mother thoroughly enjoyed her time at The Gardens. The staff treated her with such love and respect; they became like family to her. One of the truly nicest features is the size of the apartments. The rooms are spacious and bright. My mom really enjoyed the balcony as she spent many hours sitting out there and getting fresh air. Having her own laundry area was huge! The fact that she could do laundry anytime of the day or night and not have to share a hall facility was a definite draw to this facility. Even though she didn't do much cooking, it was so nice to have a full kitchen with full size appliances. My mom has quite a large wardrobe so the huge walk in closet was a bonus. She even had a bench in hers so that she could use it while dressing. The apartments are well insulated as we never could hear neighbors through the walls. She participated in many activities while living there, more when she was younger and more mobile. Even at 91 years old, she continued to play Bingo, played in the hand bell choir, and enjoyed frequent musical entertainments. She also enjoyed being a part of the church community there on Sunday mornings. We both will miss the staff and wonderful friends she made at The Gardens, but she leaves with a heart full of priceless memories.

I like a lot of things about Holiday The Gardens at Wakefield. I like the people here, the location, and the facility is nice and well-maintained. The staff is good. They're attentive, polite, and helpful. They have all kinds of activities every day. There's mild exercises, a book club, singing instruments, crafts, card games, a weekly pool game for men (women can do that, too), poker nights, and just all kinds of things. All the meals are provided and it's got a good variety. We have two or three choices for each meal.

My Father was very nervous about changing from his house of 30+ years to Gardens of Wakefield. However, after only a month he was very settled and thankful for the move. This community is absolutely perfect for him in every way. The food is outstanding and the wide range of activities offered is beyond what I thought was possible. From the moment I spoke to the Sales Manager I had a good feeling that The Gardens of Wakefield would be a good fit for my parents. As I was dealing over the phone it was a challenge at first not knowing all the questions to ask but was put at ease with our conversations and email of information on The Garden at Wakefield. My sister and I came from out of state to review a few places with our parents and when we toured The Gardens my parents were sold on activities that were offered and the services that were available on-site. We signed on the second trip there after looking at the available apartments and picking out one that fit them well. My parents had a choice from a one bedroom/ bath two 2 bedroom/bath. All rooms came furnished with washer/dryer and a complete kitchen which was a big plus as mom loves to cook and bake. I have not had one complaint about the facility since I first dealt with them. Every call or email is always answered promptly. There is plenty of activities such as billiards, cards, movies, bible study that my folks have taken part in and there are cards and a putting green when it warms up that dad will love. My parents have been there since mid December of 2021 and have not once regretted the choice they made. The friends that they have already made with similar likes and hobbies has been wonderful and it’s feeling like more of a family setting than we expected.

Each has a washer/ dryer and the bathrooms are well equipped with safety features. There are many activities for the residents to enjoy at the Gardens and there are also lots of opportunities for the residents to go to different outings in the community. There is an in house physical/occupational therapy department as well as a beauty salon. Again all staff are caring and kind. When we found The Gardens of Wakefield we hit the jackpot!! After a hospital stay, rehab and home care, it was time for our relative to seek a new home. We did our research and checked out The Gardens. Wow! We were impressed and so was our relative. Location was important but the physical facility and the staff were more important. After 4 months, we have absolutely nothing negative to say about this wonderful community. It really is a community! The staff could not be more caring and helpful from the manager to the catering, housekeeping and maintenance teams. No matter who is at the front desk, they always have a smile and answers to all our questions. The variety of activities on a daily basis is amazing. And then there are the special activities for holidays and commemorative occasions. There is always something to do! The chef is creative, and we have enjoyed every meal we have ever had at The Gardens. We feel that our relative is safe, well taken care of and right where he needs to be! This is truly HOME for him! We are not ready to downsize and leave our house, but when we are we want to live at The Gardens!!

Our mom lived at the Gardens for many years and we could not have asked for a better living situation for her! It was very very hard for her to have to leave her home of several decades to move to an apartment living situation. Everyone from office staff to hospitality staff to therapy staff to fellow apartment building residents were incredibly welcoming and supportive! It took mom a bit to adjust to the change but once she did she absolutely thrived there! We just recently had to make the decision to move her to a more assisted living situation and it was very sad to say goodbye to this wonderful place! The Gardens have many amenities including varied daily activities on site and day trips out, therapy staff on site, very approachable office staff and a nicely diverse residential member demographic.

The Gardens at Wakefield independent living was very beautiful. It was very clean, welcoming, it smelled good, and everything about it was very nice. The staff that assisted me was knowledgeable and very friendly. During our visit, some women were playing a game of cards in a room. I think there was a place where somebody was playing the piano too. There was another crowd of people just sitting outside talking and singing.

I liked The Gardens at Wakefield. It's more of a senior independent living, but my mother's doctor recommended that they'd be a licensed assisted living community. It was very nice. It's a fairly new facility, and it was a beautiful location. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It was homier, and they were my first choice, and if my mother gets to where she could be more independent, that would certainly be a place I would consider.

The Gardens at Wakefield had a nice setup, but it wasn't quite as bright and lively. I didn't see any residents milling around too. Tina sat down with me and talked to me about my mom's needs and what they offer. She was very, very nice. She wasn't too pushy but just seemed more of a typical salesperson than the other people I talked to. The one-bedroom apartment was too big. It had a whole separate bedroom and a separate living room, but it's weird because it only had a kitchenette with a refrigerator, a sink, a little stovetop, and a microwave, and it was like a long one wall. I needed something in between their one-bedroom and studio and they didn't have that. When you walked into the facility, it was OK. It's just not as open and spacious as the others that we saw, and it almost seemed like an old person's house. It was a little too expensive too. Cable is not included in their price but she tried to come down on the price for me many times. After we finished the tour, she took me back to the office and gave me a nice gift bag with some cookies in it. It was a very nice gesture and I appreciate it.

She is enjoying the 2 bed room apartment and all the amenities. She has met very friendly folks and all the residents and staff are super helpful. Couldn't ask for a better experience!

We toured The Gardens at Wakefield. The actual tour itself was handled very professionally and was very good. They did a wonderful job of both showing us what they offer, as well as answering our questions very honestly and openly. The location may not be the best for my dad, not that it's not close to me, but that had more to do with the surrounding area. He doesn't drive, so getting to easy accessible shopping may not be as easy, even though they offer transportation. As we look at the totality of the places that we looked at, while the tour and everything was great and the people there were wonderful, it's probably in the bottom half of where we stand.

The Gardens at Wakefield was a great choice for my mother and her husband to transition to an independent living facility. The activities that were becoming difficult for them, like cooking, transportation, doctors visits and house up keep are being taking care of for them.

Seemed good going in but there is a significant price hike every year and it becomes unafforadable. The food is frozen/canned stuff. Nothing is fresh. Not even close to restaurant quality. Staff is constantly changing because no one likes dealing with complaints all the time. No activities due to COVID but they continue to charge the residents the same price (actually price went up!). Unfortunately, this is par for the course when it comes to these types of facilities. Their goal is to get every last dime from the old people living here while they are still alive. It is shameful.

Provider Response

Hello, thank you for taking the time to rate and review our community. We regret to hear that you have not been completely satisfied, and are confident this does not represent our community as a whole. We serve 3 chef-prepared meals daily, fresh from the kitchen. Due to protocols put into place to ensure the safety of our residents, our scheduled activities have changed, but we continue to offer fun and engaging activities for our residents. We would like the opportunity to speak with you further about your concerns. Please feel free to contact the local team directly, they would be happy to speak with you. Thank you

I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience has been with The Gardens so far. My mom recently decided to move to an independent living situation and we could not be happier with how she has been treated by the staff there. From our initial visit, to the follow up, to the move and then helping to get her integrated and adjusted, Tina, Mark and everyone there have gone the extra mile to ensure she has had a positive experience. We were very nervous about the process and they did everything possible to make it as easy as possible. We are so relieved to have found such a wonderful environment for her! Highly recommend The Gardens!

My brother-in-law has been relocated to The Gardens at Wakefield. We're only a little bit in, so I have limited feedback at the moment. He is thrilled there. He relocated from a different assisted living place and is just delighted to have more space and access to outdoors with a balcony. He is just very pleased. As a new resident, he was under quarantine for two weeks. He was receiving his meals in his room until his two-week quarantine was up. His food arrives in very nice, very durable plastic containers, which are recycled. He has to put it back outside his door when he is finished. In this new place, he has a full kitchen, and so he said, "Well, I know it takes a long time to get food from the kitchen to the room, but with my microwave now I can just re-heat what I want to re-heat." He is very happy about having the kitchen available. He has a full dishwasher, a microwave, an oven, a full-size refrigerator, and all those things that make life easy. They have all kinds of activities. They have an activity director who does a really good job. They take you to appointments, they take you to Walmart, they play cards, they have movie nights, they have sing-alongs, and they provide music. We are very pleased with all of that, too. My brother-in-law has not been able to do activities just yet because of this quarantine. The facility is lovely. They have lovely gardens and a lovely outdoor space. It's always clean. We are very pleased with the staff. They have been responsive, they have been very helpful, and they welcomed my brother-in-law and made him feel that they're really glad he's there. Other residents have stopped in to welcome him. We're very pleased. It's independent living, but they have an agency onsite to provide the services my brother-in-law would need.

My Mom is living in a two bedroom apartment and it is very large and comfortable. She has lived there for approx. two years and will tell you it was the best decision she has ever made. The staff are amazing. They truly care for each resident and go out of their way to make them feel loved and special. We are very happy with the overall experience at the Gardens at Wakefield.

The staff at the Gardens is friendly and available. The housekeepers were amazing. Not only did they do a fantastic job keeping mom’s apt. clean but they were also her friends. They never left without giving her a hug and making her smile. There were always opportunities for activities and friendly residents to talk to. Spontaneous gatherings would happen with lots of laughter. We really appreciated the on-site hair salon and Sunday church services.

The Gardens is a well thought out community with a very caring staff. My Aunt who has lived here for several years loves the activities and the fact that she can live in a safe, carefree environment with people her own age.

A warm, caring community resides in the Gardens @ Wakefield. Spacious rooms, large closets and full sized kitchens are standard. Kind and helpful staff, at all levels, are always willing to roll up their sleeves to help residents. Delicious, creative mealplan, and fun activities included.

The Gardens at Wakefield was a nice place. There were buses available, and the pets were allowed at a reasonable price of $25 a month. There was no pickleball available and no swimming pool, but they had a guest room you could use.

The Gardens at Wakefield was very good. The atmosphere was very nice and the courtyard was wonderful. They have a lot of nice amenities. The staff was excellent and very friendly. The dining area was clean and they had a lot of different choices for food which is nice. You can get hamburgers any day and snacks any time. They have all kinds of activities like Bingo, entertainers coming in, piano, and they go on outings.

We visited The Gardens at Wakefield, and this is our second choice community. We walked through the place and saw some rooms, we also saw their outdoor areas and everything. We had a meal there and it was very nice. We liked the calendar of events that they had, we liked the appearance of the community specially the outdoor areas. It was nice. Everybody was very nice. They also had several options in room sizes which was good. But they're just too expensive and out of reach for ordinary people.

My mother is at the independent living level of The Gardens at Wakefield, but we hired personal care assistance separately. It's a beautiful community and well-kept. The staff is very nice, the coordinator was very attentive and outstanding, and the variety of activities are great. I have no complaints at all. My mom didn't want to participate but the activities director was very patient, sat her down and talked to her. She had a very nice 1-bedroom apartment, it had a washer and dryer, bathroom, kitchenette and it was clean. The cleaning services comes in once a week and took care of the vacuuming and garbage. It was a very nice and welcoming place. I also wanted to say how sweet they were, the kitchen staff would come on their days off or on their breaks and would sit with my mom to provide company. She loves it there and they love her, it was really cute to see that. My mother had a really enjoyable time that she spent there. The food was good, there was a time when they had a change in the kitchen staff.

Our daughter is at The Gardens at Wakefield because she suffers from bipolar depression. She is 59. She was very lonely and living by herself, and she said that she would like to go where there are other people. The activities are there if she wants to do them. She just called and told us the activities she did for the day, which were good. They appear to encourage friendliness among the residents. It was a very difficult adjustment for my daughter as she is the youngest person there, but she is fully adjusting. The facilities are nice. They just recently cleaned all the carpets and furniture. The people are very kind. The woman who interviewed us before we started was very friendly and very caring. The community is in a nice area, and they have a lovely garden for people to walk through. I'm just very thankful.

The Gardens at Wakefield is in a very quiet area, and the staff is very friendly and very nice. It looks a little older, but it’s a perfectly nice place. The dining area was located right when you walked in which my mother didn’t like, but it didn’t bother me. A 2-bedroom unit was the largest place, and it was about 1200 sq ft. They have some exercise classes, but their workout room is not very well equipped which is not good for my mom because she still works out. They don’t have a pool which a lot of the other places have. They had things that they did together like art but not a lot of physical activities.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live in The Gardens; it’s very nice, but very expensive. Other than that, there are plenty of activities, and it’s very nice. The food is so-so; sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s not, and it’s not the greatest. I don’t think institutionalized food is any good anywhere. My apartment is big enough for me; I have a 1-bedroom, 1- bath, a living room, and a kitchen.

We visited The Gardens at Wakefield. We liked the facilities because they were completely equipped with kitchens, two bathrooms, and laundry facilities in each apartment. There is a guy from New York who is in charge of outreach for all of the facilities under the Holiday Communities. He and his wife were there on a two-week stay, but they took over and hosted our visit to the fullest. They took us around and introduced us to most of the key staff and personnel. We had a great visit. Everybody there was friendly. They have a full calendar of activities posted somewhere in the dining area, and it was filled up for the month. The food was very good, too, with excellent variety.

The Gardens at Wakefield actually was pretty nice. It is a little farther away than I wanted to drive, and the cost is a little more than I expected, but other than that, it was a pretty nice place.

I was very impressed with this facility. The staff and residents were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Staff followed up with me to answer any questions and to invite me back. The facility and grounds made you feel as if you were in a very nice apartment complex. This facility was in my top 2 pick for my mother.

We are very happy with the Gardens at Wakefield. We like fact that it has a washer and dryer in each apartment and a full kitchen, but that they also serve three meals a day. The staff is very supportive; the grounds are well-maintained; and they have a lot of activities planned for the residents. My father likes it a lot. They had a chef and they really liked the food, but then they changed chefs and the residents are not as pleased with the menus that they have now.

I've been visiting The Gardens for 4 or 5 years. I was very familiar with it. The food is very good; they have 3 meals a day. They have a washer and dryer in the room. They have a good staff. They have trips in town and meetings for various subjects. They have a regular schedule of buses to the grocery stores and doctors. The rooms looked all right to me. I don’t think they're terribly small.

The size of the apartments is what I liked best about The Gardens, and the friendliness. The food, the staff. Everything about it is good. My mother feels very much at home. She describes it as a nice homey atmosphere.
