We used Currituck House for respite care. It was great. They have a seven-day minimum. Most places require 30, but we didn't need 30 days. Uncle was in the memory care section because he has dementia, and they took very good care of him. They treated him very kindly, which is all you want in a place where you're putting someone you love. My uncle had a private room. They had activities, too. I would highly recommend it. The place was clean and his room was a very nice size.

I went to see the Currituck House for my mom. It's very clean, it's a small location. The staff members there were very nice, they seem to care about the people there. They're upgrading everything so it's nice. They do activities and they have an activity director and they would play bingo, do puzzles, and things like that there. They also had a dining room, everybody has their own TVs in their own rooms, and they have a doctor there on staff, and they also do the cleaning. The size of the room is comfortable to have a big TV, chair or you could even have a couch, then a bathroom, and they have closets and drawers and everything. I remember that some of the people were playing card games or checkers. The outdoor area was nice, they have places for them to sit if they wanted to sit outside, with rocking chairs and things like that. It's well-maintained and everything looks clean and new.

Stayed three months. Staying here was a real nightmare. Thank God I finally got out!

My old friend is miserable here. Too bad she got very few choices where she can stay. I feel bad for old people that live here.

I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I admitted my mother on 1-4-2016 and removed her on 1-21-16 due to their negligence. Their NC DHSR ACLS rating has gone from 4 stars and a score of 103.5 to a 1 star and a score of 72 as of 2-23-2016. They had 33.5 demerits. This is not a safe place to place your love ones. Do yourself a favor...look elsewhere for care.

My mother has been a resident at this assisted living facility since December, 2011. It is a brand new facility that is clean and nicely decorated. My mother receives extremely good care here and the staff is friendly and helpful. Everyone, from the administrator to the maintenance personel are sincerely interested in the well being of the residents. The activity department provides a lot of fun and interesting things to do.
