I have found Goldsboro Assisted Living & Alzheimer's Care for my mom, and I have been very satisfied so far with that. It's locally owned by a family in Goldsboro. They don't have all that many patients. They have 28 for assisted living and probably that many in the Alzheimer's section, which is locked separate from where my mom is. Goldsboro was able to take my mom. She gets the care that she needs there, plus they're doing therapy and other things. It is also a lot more affordable. She has memory issues, but she is not in the Alzheimer's unit. She is blind, and when she was at the last facility, they lost one of her hearing aids, so she's barely been able to hear anything. My mom needs assistance eating, she needs assistance dressing, and she needs assistance getting bathed. She needs assistance doing just about everything she does, and they're providing it. I have no complaints from what I've seen. I've not been around all that many staff, but as far as the administration and the lady that's in charge of all the patient care, I would give them a 5. My mom is not complaining. Also, she has no complaints about the food. They have activities, but when you're blind and can't hear, it's hard to engage in the activities that they have. They provide activities for the patients that are there. It's not one of the newest facilities, but it's one of the cleanest places you'll ever go in. They have a salon, a front porch, and an outside area that they can be taken to, but they don't have a gym.
