While the facility looks nice and it claims to be “premier”, it is run so poorly. So many of the staff appear untrained in the care of dementia residents, leading to often times negligent care. Especially troubling is the sloppiness in which medications are passed, resulting in frequent errors. Communication with families is almost nonexistent. The food is often not suitable for the elderly. Individuals in their eighties and nineties don’t want tacos. While all facilities have issues, the problems here are widespread and are rarely addressed adequately. Our elderly deserve better!

Memory Care is very poorly run. Often understaffed , mediocre food, inconsistent housekeeping. Very poor communication with families. Definitely not worth $86,000 a year.

My mother loves it but I have my reservations. Staff is unruly, undisciplined and gossips. My mother loves the gossiping. I feel that this breaks HIPPA. Every time I go there, she tells me all the latest news. Staff is nice to me but when I walk in and they don’t know I am coming or that I have been sitting there, I can see they put on an act. Food is adequate. Holiday meals are really nice and she loves them. Activity staff is always pleasant. I would rate it a 1 or 2 but my mother loves it so she would rate it a solid 5. She loves the food and all the drama. My rating is a medium between my rating and my mothers rating

Newish facility, well cared for. Poor communication with residents. Not well managed. Aides are undisciplined and poorly overseen, especially on weekends. Food quality is uneven, portions are getting smaller. Problems with laundry and mixing people's clothes. Dementia people are mixed with assisted people for activities. They tend to talk throughout the movie or music. There is no one there to correct or remove them. One staff person returned my voicemail message during three years of dealing with them.

We will be moving my mom to Fredonia Place of Williamsville. I like that a lot of people and staff from my mom's previous community will be moving there, so there's going to be continuity for her. My mom is Catholic, and they have a chapel in the facility, which was a very important thing for us. So those are two of the major reasons that we selected this one. It's very, very open and there are a lot of windows and they looked out to one of the courtyards, which were exterior. The room had its own bathroom and it was a nice size. It is bigger than what she had at her previous facility, so we were very satisfied, and it's even one of the smaller rooms there. It's very clean, very nice, it's a beautiful building. What's nice about their memory care unit was that it wasn't very big, it only had about 23 rooms. It's right outside the nurse's station and right outside where the dining room is. It's all in a circle, so she can't get lost, it's very accessible and very easy for her to get around. One of the things we like about this is they don't do just the activities with the memory of residents. They come and get them, take them to a larger room where the assisted living is located, and do activities with the assisted living residents as well. So it's a mixture. The staff was very polite and they seem very friendly. It's a newer building that's very updated.

Fredonia Place of Williamsville is a beautiful facility. I toured the memory care. The rooms were beautiful, and very well maintained. The room we toured didn't have any furniture in it because the customer would be providing the furniture, but the whole facility was clean. It was the intake manager I was talking to, who was extremely helpful, listened to me, and gave me a straightforward answer each time.

We toured Fredonia Place of Williamsville. They have a nice facility, although it is a little bit larger, so their activities room is bigger. The chapel here was bigger, and here they have a deacon that's onsite that does masses and stuff like that, so that was a viable option for people who have a religious background. One nice thing is that every section has a nurse's station. They put it behind the wall, so that way, as you're walking around, you don't see that. It feels more like an apartment area as opposed to a health facility. They have a really large kitchen that can be reserved for family use. They stock everything that you would need to use it with, like pots, pans, dishes, utensils and spices, and stuff like that. All you have to do is bring in your food if you're going to cook a meal for the resident that's living there. The person that we were working with was not very responsive. His name was Michael. Even when we had the tour scheduled for my mother-in-law, he didn't even show up and someone else had to do the tour for us. That just made us a little leery about it. If he's not responding and then doesn't show up for the tour, what's going on in this place is not well managed. That just didn't give us a very comfortable feeling. The building is two stories and they only have availability on the bottom floor, which means my mother-in-law would have to take an elevator to get to all the activities and the eating area. We knew she wouldn't be comfortable with that because she has mobility issues.

Fredonia Place of Williamsville showed me both their assisted living and memory care. It was very clean and very up-to-date. I came in at 3 in the afternoon, so the residents had just finished the activity in one room. The staff was very friendly and nice. The rooms were very clean, very nice, very well maintained, and very pleasant. They had a library, a beautiful yard, gardening, and stuff. It's a very well taken care of place.
