They sent my mother to the hospital and didn’t notify me. It took 3 days to find out why she didn’t answer the phone. She also tested positive for COVID in hospital. Very scary place....poorly run.

My father was a resident at the Bristal of North Woodmere for almost 4 years. When COVID started, he was quarantined like all other residents, for 4 weeks, before he contracted COVID. The only way he could have contracted it is if the staff were not provided proper personal protective equipment. My Dad passed within a week of contracting the disease. I feel his death could have been avoided had the management of the Bristal done their job!

I am a Professional who owns a Home Care Agency. I am a frequent visitor to this Community (as residents occasionally call upon my Agency to provide short-term, one-on-one assistance for Mom or Dad in addition to the services they receive at The Bristal). I have also referred a number of families to The Bristal at North Woodmere. The staff is extremely warm, friendly, welcoming and professional, while the Community itself is clean, gorgeous, and vibrant. This is a direct reflection on the Staff, as well as on the Bristal Philosophy and Mission Statement. From the ED, Latavia Ross, to Wellness Director Marcia Suckey, and on down to Food Services, Recreation, Housekeeping, Wait Staff and the Front Desk, every member of the Bristal Team takes it upon themself to engage the Residents individually, and to make them feel like they are respected and valued member of the Community. I am most impressed with how "social" the atmosphere at the Bristal feels. There is always a buzz in the lunch room (where Food Services Director Verna takes great pride in providing delicious and creative meals and snacks). And there is a constant bustle of activity - from Music Programs, to regular Card games, to Movies, and of course everyone's favorite: Bingo! There are also frequent Bus Trips for Outside activities like the Beach, Broadway Plays, and other Special Events. The rooms are beautiful, and provide a true feeling of home when the Residents have had their fill of the daily activities in the Community. DCR Lori McGuinness is often giving tours of the building during my visits, and takes great pride in helping families make an informed, UN-pressured decision as to whether her Community is the "right fit" for the family's Loved One. I am frankly a bit envious of the amenities, luxury and pampering that Bristal North Woodmere residents get to experience, and would wholeheartedly recommend this Community for families looking to ensure that Mom and Dad get the most out of their Senior Years!

My mom has been living at the Bristal in North Woodmere for over a year and still says "Home Sweet Home" when returning from an outing. Nothing could be more comforting than seeing her in a happy and safe environment. Working with Lori M. made mom's move a smooth and stress free transition for the whole family. Lori works very diligently to make sure everything is taken care of. I especially love how the whole staff greats my mom by name and everyone is very in tune to her needs. I highly recommend the Bristal at North Woodmere.

Nice place with good service but for the price, they need to update their technology. The TV service in the rooms is not high def so the picture is small and blurry despite the size of the screen. Regular keys are used for the rooms so folks with arthritis might have a problem. They should have electronic access. If they want to attract baby boomers who might need more care, they really need to update their technology.

My husband is on the assisted living of The Bristal, the one on North Woodmere. I think it's excellent. The staff is professional and excellent. The food is outstanding. He has been there since February, and I have nothing to complain about. They have been like a family to me. They have bingo, which everybody loves, and even my husband loves it. They have the trivia games, different exercise things, and some entertainment. They have very nice appropriate activities. Now, my husband is in The Reflections area, which is different than the rest of the community. The reflections area is for dementia patients. My husband's room is excellent. It's very kept up well. It's modern and up-to-date. They clean the bathroom. They're always cleaning something in this place or repainting something so that nothing ever looked worn. Everything looks fresh and beautiful.

My mother entered The Bristal at North Woodmere 3 months ago. The staff there, from Linda who initially showed us our options to Lisa, the director to Gina, her assistant to the wellness staff who assist my mother with activities of daily living to Rose and the activities staff to the cafeteria and maintenance and housekeeping staffs- everyone has been so welcoming and warm. The facility is beautiful and well maintained and, most importantly, as my mother frequently says, "everyone knows my name here!" There is a real sense of community and true respect and caring for the residents. It was not an easy decision for my mom to leave her home of 30 years. She has always been very independent and active, but her physical problems were making her more and more isolated and also unsafe in her own home. She feels much more secure now and has made friends. Lisa, the director made a real effort in placing my mom at a table she thought would be a good fit and it has been just that- my mom clicked with the women at her table and they are truly becoming friends. Although it was a hard step to take, it was the right one for my mom. I am very happy with her adjustment and comfort level in her new home. Thank you to the whole Bristal at North Woodmere staff for the excellent care you're taking of my mom! I'm breathing easier, knowing she's safe and less alone and she is genuinely enjoying her life more now that she has less to worry about.

I cannot say enough praises about the Bristal at North Woodmere. They are a blessing for all older adults!! They are a blessing to those who have an aging parent or other loved one!! My dad resides there and I am his only child and family. My dad wants to remain independent, but as he ages the roles change and I became his caretaker - but still am his daughter. The staff at the Bristol cares for my dad as if they were his own father - therefore meeting both of our goals. My dad remains independent, and I am able to know that my dad is safe and be not just “my father’s keeper” but can be his daughter and maintain our parent/child relationship. The respect and kindness shown to both of us, ensures my dad thrives in his older years and I feel safe with him being there. My dad thrives at the Bristal – as I stated- the staff is like family and I never have to worry about my dad’s emotional, social or physical well-being. The Bristal at North Woodmere is beyond professional; demonstrated daily by their dedication to the safety and well-being of their residents in the latter years of life. Not only how they treat my dad, but the observation of how they treat all of their residents. I am grateful that I found them. Yes, it looks like a fine hotel, but it is the quality of beyond what the eye can see that makes the Bristal at North Woodmere the premier choice for me. From the Executive Director to the Wellness Staff, the activities personnel and all that work there- the Bristal at North Woodmere is beyond all expectations of what I, the child of a resident could hope for. My dad loves his apartment, has companionship all day long, activities, delicious meals and services to help him remain independent- while having all of his needs met that come with the aging process. I recommend the Bristal of North Woodmere with no reservation to any person looking for themselves or for the family members looking for a safe and nurturing residence for their loved one! I sincerely ask you to look here before you make your final choose anywhere else. I wish that I had come there sooner with my dad! .

When my father died this past fall, my mother knew that she wanted to move into an assisted living facility. She wanted to live independently of family but she was not sure what this new chapter of her life would look like. We visited several facilities in our area and ultimately chose the Bristal at North Woodmere. It was the first place we visited and the one we came back to. The atmosphere just seemed so friendly and warm. Lots of friendly faces and people who looked like they were still involved and doing things. The facility itself was very attractive and the one-bedroom apartment that we looked at was well laid out for my mother. The Bristal itself also made a great impression. The dining room and all the public rooms were clean and nicely maintained with most of the activities on the first floor. The director, Lisa, has been a godsend to my mother. She is responsible for running a very special community and does it with grace and humor. We depend upon her to brainstorm when there's an issue and she is very accessible to my mother and also to us. The staff members at the Bristal at North Woodmere are very friendly and genuinely nice people. They have supported my mother in her adjustment to her new surroundings. They have extended themselves at every turn, helping to make things as easy as possible. The Wellness staff (both the registered nurses and the support staff) are kind and caring and very attentive to my mother's health issues. Too many wonderful, caring people to mention their names, as I would surely leave someone out. We can all feel secure that my mother is a push-button or call away from any help that she might need. The people at the reception desk are always friendly and make us feel welcome (Linda, Jermaine & Denise, thank you!) Frank and Jamie were so helpful with the move-in. Physical therapy is right on the premises and the doctors who come to the Bristal have made life easier for us all. And there are lots of activities to keep mom busy and everyone is very open to suggestions for new activities. Lectures, concerts, and special parties are always being planned. All in all, It was the right decision for my mother to move here and we would not hesitate to recommend the Bristal at North Woodmere to anyone who is considering an assisted living option.

I have been a resident of The Bristal at North Woodmere for over five years although lit doesn't seem that long. Prior to moving here my wife and I lived in Florida where we enjoyed an active life style. As the years went by we felt the need to slow down a bit and to live closer to family members. Our daughter lives in Woodmere so the Bristal at North Woodmere seemed to be the most practical location. We took a tour of the facilities and were impressed. Our first impression turned out to be correct;. Everything was as it was explained to us. The most important part of living in an assisted living facility is the staff whom we found to be extremely capable and friendly. From the "Wellness" personnel through housekeeping and the wait staff in the dining room, we could not ask for a ,more friendly or cooperative group. We were concerned that the meals would be less than those to which we were accustomed but we were pleasantly surprised to find that was not the case. An excellent choice is provided for each meal and there is always something to enjoy. My wife passed away in 2012. Fortunately, we had made some good friends who made the transition from married to single as easy as possible. The living quarters ae great. There is a wide choice of quarters based upon the resident's desire and budget. TV service is provided at no charge and just recently, access to the intenet was put into effect saving us the expense of contracting with an outside service. The facilities are complete and utilized with great enthusiasm by the residemts. From nightly movies to a full calendar of activities, nothing has been left out.. The staff is always ready to listen and act upon our desires and suggestions. Of course,, an organization such as this must be carefully honed by those in charge. and we are fortunate to have a new Director (Lisa) who chats daily with the residents to be sure nothing is lacking. She not only listens to our desires but acts upon them. Daily she walks through the dining room to chat with and to listen to the residents. I have had occasion to visit a number of facilities on Long Island and have found none which can approach The Bristal at North Woodmere..

I just want to thank everyone at The Bristal for the wonderful care they are providing for my Mother. It's the day after Mother's Day and I am remembering all of the good times my family enjoyed with my Mother. Now, when she needs help the most I am thankful for all of the staff at Reflections at her most needy time.

I don't even know what to say about how great this assisted living facility. Not only does it look like a hotel but most importantly they employ a staff who care for the residents with compassion and professionalism . It is not just a job to them they put their heart and soul into it. My father spent 18 months there in the memory unit. In addition to cognitive issues he had so many health problems and had to take a ton of medication. They made every day of his life as best as it could be even when he was difficult. They kept him clean and were patient and kind. The workers and management knew when he needed additional medical care and when he was dying they knew exactly when to have Hospice come in, They were more attentive than the Hospice staff tending to his every need. They also played a big role in supporting my mother who had been a caregiver with declining mobility. They took care of her when she visited and were compassionate with me, the only child. My mother entered the Bristal in the regular unit, recently. I can sleep at night knowing she is safe and getting great care when needed. The management/director of the facility is very hands on with knowledge of each resident and is a true professional. She makes sure everything runs smoothly. If you are looking for a facility for a family member or friend there is no better place.

The Bristal was nicer and newer than another facility I liked. They have a movie room, and the activity room was bigger than the other facility's. It had very nice, new carpeting. The cafeteria was very modern and updated. It was nice, too. The facility was bigger, so I was worried that it might be too much walking for my mother. Neverthless, the staff was very friendly and very helpful. Everyone was nice. The surroundings were very pretty, and there were nice outdoor areas that I liked.

The Bristal Assisted Living at North Woodmere and its people are very nice. It’s updated and modern to a point. It’s not a tall building with two floors and is very handicapped-friendly for the elderly people. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. They were wonderful people, I must say. The food is Kosher, and my mother is not Kosher nor interested in Kosher food. They have a lot of activities going on there, like books in a machine that magnifies everything in big letters. It was very nice. They have another area where they can get coffee and tea anytime they want, which is very nice, too. They had a nice outdoor park where they have events in the summertime. The rooms were very nice. There are a few different types of rooms. One of them is called the Friendship Room where you’re not actually sharing the room, just sharing the alcove area; you go through the main door and there are two other doors for two separate rooms. The bathrooms are outside the rooms but not outside the main door, and there was a kitchenette. This type of room was less expensive. I thought it was very nice. They have different events where they take them on day trips to different places. This facility gave me the impression of living at a hotel.

My friend is at The Bristal Assisted Living. I think the place looks nice. They do laundry, and they clean up her room. Her room is a very good-size with very good closet space. My friend has put in some of her own furniture, so it feels more like home. They have some exercising. They have a little gym, but it is mostly exercise in a chair because these are all old people. And that's one of the complaints my friend has. She is old herself, but the other residents are old to the point where they don't talk much anymore. It is not very social. The accommodations are very nice, though. The place is nice and clean. The staff at the desk is very pleasant.

The Bristal is very nice for my mother. You get your own one-bedroom apartment, you go downstairs and have all your meals in the dining room, and all your activities and your medical care are all handled. I have no complaints whatsoever. They have every type of activity you can think of. They have exercise, movies, shows, table games, and book groups, and the dining room is really nice. She goes upstairs to her room, they pick up her laundry for her, and they handle all the bed making and all the cleaning in the apartment. The apartment has a beautiful walk-in shower with a seat in the shower. She is as happy as she could be.

My Mom was treated in a demeaning fashion, activities are not welcoming to new residents, food is good but place is otherwise stifling - sleep over and spend some time.

The Bristol at North Woodmere was the one I liked the best. I liked the way it was laid out, the neighborhood that it was in, and it didn’t give you that much of a nursing home as the others. My mom liked this the most as well. The woman who wanted to sell us the place was naturally very nice.

I thought The Bristal at North Woodmere was very nice, very well maintained, very cheery, and like a nice hotel. I liked the dining room and I thought the people were very friendly. The staff was very helpful, informative, and friendly. They answered all my questions. They showed me a couple of different rooms and programs. They had activities like bingo and playing cards. They had movies. I looked at the calendar, and they seemed to have a lot going on. They had a gym and a little rehab center so that the people could do physical therapy there if they needed to. If I was that age, then I would be comfortable with them.

I visited The Bristal. It was clean, but I felt very claustrophobic. I know I would not like it. It seemed nice, but I think my parents would prefer to remain in their apartment and have caregivers come to the apartment. I was taken around by a young woman, and she was involved, very positive, and she cared about what was going on there. The rooms were clean, decorated with modern furniture, but I did not feel homey. It felt like a cookie-cutter hotel. Each room was the same. It was a nice "institution."

My mom has been a resident for the past two years and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Bristal of North Woodmere. The staff is caring and kind towards the residents and the residents who are in need of a higher care level, receive the care in a very gentle and encouraging way. The facility is immaculate and the decor is cheerful and bright. I had visited 15 facilities before choosing the Bristal for my mom. My mom is very happy here and I could not have made a better choice for her!

The Bristal was very beautiful and comfortable. The apartments are spacious, well appointed and very reasonable. The staff seems very knowledgeable. They had a calendar of activities. They had different levels of care but we were interested in the independent living. It seemed a much older community than we were looking for.

The Bristal Assisted Living at North Woodmere was clean, organized and it looked like a hotel. The location was also close to my house. They had different apartments both private and shared. I liked it because it had a memory center. The staff were very courteous and I liked the atmosphere for my dad. I would choose this facility when the time comes.

Mother enjoy being at The Bristal of North Woodmere. She's only been there since December. The facility looked very nice and beautiful. Its' very clean and very attractively decorated. The room is nice. Mom shares a bathroom with somebody. She seems to have found some people to play cards with, which she likes. The staff seems very friendly and they seem to know her. The food is good. My son actually likes it, and we go there for lunch often.

I visited my grandmother at this facility on multiple occasions on different days and times, each time was a pleasure. My grandmother had her own studio, which allowed her enough space to place her own furniture. She was allowed to post pictures on the wall and some of her favorite fabrics, making the studio feel like her old room. Whenever I arrive at the facility, I am greeted with a smiling and happy secretary at the front; who takes down my information and provides me with a visitor tag. As I proceed to my grandmother's room, I am greeted by the staff and directed to my location. My grandmother is often reading in her bed and her view of a lake provides her comfort. She is always grateful to have a beautiful view of nature. The bathroom and her kitchen are always clean, and her laundry is always done on time and returned on time. My grandmother often tells me stories about their outings, since the staff take them on various 'adventures'. I always appreciated this because my grandmother likes to explore and visit new places. Overall, this is a very happy place and the staff is very welcoming.

This is a well kept facility with an attentive and caring staff. The recreation department has a variety of activities with some very good entertainment for the residents. Most complaints are dealt with in a very timely fashion. My Dad has been a resident for the past four years.
