I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is here. This place does the best for EVERY patient. The staff on the first floor are compassionate and extremely caring for the patients. There are too many people to shout out. But I want to mention a few. Number 1 is Pearl, no particular order…Nurse Katie, Frank, Nurse Johnson, CNA Maria, CNA Mika, CNA Regine, Alex(speech therapist) ALL the physical and occupational therapist, Bethany ( always smiling at the front desk), Nurse Julianna, all the office staff, Dr Shag, Michelle the dietician, Albert who makes it a point to come in and get my mom to smile and too many more that I don’t know their names. This has been a very trying time for my mom and the family. Thanks to the staff at Friedwald it has been made easier for all of us. Hopefully I didn’t forget anyone, but you all will be part of our family

I have been here at Friedwald for 24 mths as a victim of covit in 2020. I awoke from a 4 month coma no use of both hands both legs. My first 13 month I was on a vent in icu. The staff in icu saved my life I finally got off my trache this past august. The fine people from the rehab at this place started the long painful process of learning how to reuse my limbs. Pain is unreal two amazing guys Eric and Carl have been by my side every day helping to stand. These 2 guys are Amazaing at what they do both physically and mentally. They work from thier hearts to help me and care so much. Susa a pt at place has been very helpful with my progress she cares and works from the heart. The director Susan is unreal how she cares and take the time everyday to come see me and check on my progress. These therapy people are to notch and care very much for thier patients. You can’t go wrong sending a loved one here for help. Trust me I’m 55 years old been here since 53 years old and I have to believe in my Herat that these people will get me back on my feet!

Stay away! Do not bring family or loved ones to this god awful place. There is not a positive thing that I can say about Freidwald Center. Administration is no help whatsoever in anything whatsoever. Every time I go into a new room, as I’ve been here over 1 1/2 years, long is never sanitized the tray tables are loaded with food and snot and whatever bodily fluids land on it as are the rails on the sides of the bed. Because of the filth in this place I have had countless urinary tract infections. No one cleans these rooms. This place is like a nightmare. I can’t get out of here and the staff is of no help to guide me in the process of going home. I could write a book of reasons not to bring anybody you love to this place, but I wouldn’t know where to stop.

The facility went above and beyond in their efforts to provide excellent medical care for my mom. The staff is lovely treating her with warmth and humanity in addition to being very supportive in helping us make decisions regarding Mom's care.

My mom is at Friedwald Center For Rehab And Nursing LLC. I've only been to the outside to visit, but both my nephews and my sister have been inside. It looks OK. Some of the staff are helpful and will return your messages and some will not. They are taking care of my mom and she's safe there, but they are taking care of my mom and she's safe there. I've only met one lady, Amanda, and she was really, really sweet and very helpful. I think right now they're understaffed, which is in most places. That's why probably some of the seniors have to wait for their food to be brought to them or certain things. I've seen my mom on Facetime and her room could be updated.

Friedwald is an excellent place. I was there for over 5 months recovering from after effects of covid. They have excellent vent unit, PT dept, OT, Speech Ther, caring nurses, Aides, Physician Asst, Dietary, Dialysis. Social Worker is outstanding. Admin excellent - a very special person ans phone and make announcements.

A terrible experience. My mother was there for four months. Almost impossible to get someone to pick up the phone, when someone did pick up, no explanation or apology given as to why this kept happening. I was told that she received the first vaccination in January, by February they called for permission to administer the first shot. Again, no explanation as to why their records couldn’t show wether she was vaccinated or not. When calling to complain to the social worker, she literally asked me “what’s the problem now?” We moved my mother to another facility in February. The move date was delayed 3 times. Neither I nor the ambulance was contacted ahead of time. The ambulance company would arrive and was told “not today “. None of my calls about this were returned. When my mother was finally moved, the majority of her clothing and personal items were not packed. Two months later, none of my phone calls have been returned. My mother continues to receive bills for COVID testing even though these are provided at no cost to the patient. Again, no one picks up the phone or returns calls. After two months in the new facility, mom is doing much better. More alert and engaged, leading her doctor to believe that she was being overly medicated. I could go on, but I’m running out of characters.

This is not a setting for someone we care about. most despicable staff I have ever come across in my life. My father was admitted there beginning of April 2021, on the day of admission we delivered four set of clothing, the following day we delivered another five pair of clothing. we were told that we could not visit him for 14’days due to covid. upon ending of the quarantine day, when we went to visit him we found him lying soaked in urine, had an sleeveless tank top. When I asked the Nursing staff regarding the clothing that was given they said they didn’t know. I called The Director of social work, who came to the room, checked the cabinet and she witnessed that there was no clothing, she promised to check with the staff and get back to me but till date haven’t received any call back. The following day, saturday we delivered another five pair of clothing. The same week when I went to visit him there was only two shorts, when i inquired about the rest of the clothing, I got the same response , staff don’t know, I tried to reach out to the Administrator if the facility but he never picked up, I attempted to go through the receptionist who said that he was not working that particular day, when I asked if they could give me a day of the week when the Administrator was available they said they did not know when he comes to work. just today I went back to visit my Dad, he had only two pair of shorts, I asked to speak to the Director of Nursing, but was told that I could not speak to her. After almost four weeks i am yet to receive a call from any of the administrators or when I reaches out I am always told they are not available.

When I first read reviews of this place I knew I wanted my father to recover here, However as soon as my father got to the facility I wanted him back in the hospital where he would be better off. Lets start with why; 1) the physicians asst. Right from the start had 0 sensivity training. When my mom called her, she told my mom straight out, my dad would never recover. 2) upon my initial team meeting the "nurse" was clueless when I asked questions and the "social worker" kept getting up to talk to others (my sister had been conferenced in and was talking and the social worker left the room at one point. Also she kept looking at her cell phone instead of focusing on us. 3) they had my father in a chair one day. He was slouching and looked uncomfortable. When I asked if he could be moved back to the bed, the women eventually came after about a 1/2 hr or so, and said "well our shift is almost over, so the next shift will do it". The whole time I had been waiting they were outside in the hallway just yapping about themselves 4) my father was completely swelled up and in his charts it had info that he had previously been on s diuretic, yet he wasnt on one because the hospital didnt release him on one. Anyone could see he was swollen and if they had taken time to review anything would have seen he was 45 lbs heavier upon entry to hospital. Only because I was there and said something did I get him on a diuretic. And I dont have a medical degree. 5) lastly, whenever patient alarms went off, I noticed the staff took their time getting there. However, on the night my father sadly passed away, when they called me they said "we found your father in his room not breathing and no heartbeat" yet he was hooked up to monitors and I question how long it took them to respond to his alarm. If you want a family member to have good healthcare, please find a different place for them. This place was awful.

Who runs this place? I normally don’t write reviews but I was compelled to write this one when Friedwald Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing came up in my search of a new rehabilitation center for my father. About a month ago, I took my father from the hospital and placed him into this dump. It took me about a week to realize this place needs to shut down. From the very beginning, this cesspool paid no attention to taking care of my father or any of its patients. I asked one of the nurses to bring my father some water and waited over an hour to address such a menial task. After waiting so long, I had to walk around looking for someone to help, just to find that same nurse sitting in her chair on her phone. I had to ask multiple times. Later, I found another staff member and asked to speak to the nursing manager, only to find out the other nurse WAS the manager. This was just a warning sign. I came back to visit my father a couple days later to learn that the hygiene of the patients was appalling. Not only was there no concerns over hygiene, I found my father started having pressure ulcers on his left thigh. Infuriated, I went to make a complaint only to find that same lazy nurse manager, inattentively sitting at her desk on her damn phone again. Does she ever do any work? There was another fat nurse that started giving me an attitude when I asked to speak to someone about the pressure ulcers on my father’s thigh. Now not everything in this place is bad. The doctors, physician assistants, staff, and “some” of the nurses were very helpful and pleasant. Ironically most of them seem to have left, as will we.

If you really care about your loved one who needs rehabilitation, do not place them on the second floor unit of this place! Thank god they moved her to the first floor where the manager is clearly more efficient than the manager (I think her name is Rena) on the second floor. I was horrified to witness one of the female patients staying on the second floor having an altercation with another patient in the place where they eat and have activities!!!!!! I asked one of the staff to call the manager and the other patients and visitor told me that the manager does not care and does nothing about this situation which made me realized that this has happened before! This activity area is right in front of the nursing desk and the fighting is so loud that I am sure whoever is sitting in there can hear it. So I decided to see who is there and I saw 2 staff (the manager and a heavy-set staff) eating and chatting and obviously ignoring what was going on! I was shocked and one patient made a comment that this manager is useless and very lazy! My nurse friends have advised me to report this but I was happy that my aunt was moved to a safer floor.

Friedwald is great! My mom was there for Rehab in 2015. Everyone took great care of her. They all seemed to care and listen to my mom’s needs. They allowed me to stay with her. Friedwald was nice enough to give me a cot to sleep on, a nice new fleece blanket, and a tray of food at every meal so I could be with my mom at all times. We were always greeted with smiles and sincere hugs. The PT Department was great, as well as the Dialysis Center. Friedwald was always about comfort and healing, physically and spiritually. I’ve met such great people at Friedwald, the workers and the sweet patients that had so many great life stories to tell. So many different people gave my mom so many smiles and I will always be appreciative for that and for helping my mom. Thank you so much Friedwald!! Sending hugs to you all from me and from my mom Beth who passed away 7/30/15 Sandy Rubin

Stay away from Friedwald! My father, who is 91 with dementia and is visually impaired, went to Friedwald for physical therapy after a short stay in the hospital for a uti infection. I hired an outside aid that my father is very close with to stay with him for a few hours during the day. On Friday, February 28, 2015, around 1:30 pm my father was taken for physical therapy and my aid left at 2pm. After receiving physical therapy my father was taken back to his room on the 3rd floor. My father left physical therapy about 2:30 perfectly fine. At some point during his transport back to his room on the 3rd fl something happened causing significant bruises and scrapes above his left eye and on his forehead. I never received a call from Friedwald, my father never received medical attention and when I called in the evening the nurse told me that everything was fine. Imagine my surprise when I saw my father the next day. The residents are left in soiled diapers for hours which I complained to the administrator and social worker about. My father was left in a soiled diaper for 2 1/2, my aid was begging them to change him as she could not by law. She called me to let me know what was going on because she had to leave. She was told to just bring him to the nurses station when she was leaving but he hadn't been cleaned properly and still was dirty. I called the nurse assigned to my father and he started yelling at me over the phone. I couldn't even go to see what was going on due to a snow storm. When I went the next day I got my father out of there asap! I will say that the physical therapy dept is very good but I would only recommend it on an outpatient basis. Friedwald is a disgrace! I did file a formal complaint with NY State Board of Health.

My relative was here for rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery. Therapists at the center are fantastic however the nursing station is lacking organization. They fail to administer medicine on time and some nurses aides are straight out rude to the patients. Senior nursing staff would promise you to address and resolve your complains and yet nothing gets done or improved. Beware if you are planning to place your loved one in a fragile state here.

The conditions at Friedwald Center are some of the best I have ever seen. Being an overall beautiful surrounding area, the inside is also accompanied with a wonderful indoor environment and staff. The medical staff is extremely helpful in all aspects as they are very helpful and proficient in their respective areas. The staff is always willing to help and is often seen on duty constantly working towards an increasing productivity. The patients are treated with the upmost importance and are highly respected creating a very friendly atmosphere that is constantly in the air. Unlike many other centers, the Friedwald Center has one of the best rehabilitation programs around, involving as many as 50 different activities for the betterment of the patients. Friedwald Medical center is certainly a place of great comfort and reliability. They are people that you can trust and afford, and their medical services are unrivaled by most.

My father was put in here for rehabilitation and he ended up getting to visit the place a few times. The staff was rather friendly and good natured, however the facilities looked like they were in need of some reconstruction. While there the staff managed to find a condition in my dad that many doctors (heads of their departments) managed to overlook countless times. It's thanks to these great men and women that my father is no longer there and is up and around. I just hope they get the funding that they need to make their jobs even easier.

When I first stepped into such a wonderful and clean facility, I knew it was going to be a good trip. The wonderful entrance makes you feel very warm and welcome within their boundaries, making you feel secure about the way they treat their patients as well. The place continued to dazzle me as their state of the rehabilitation center and pristine inner quadrants seemed to be infallible. However, the facility has come much farther than simply aesthetic qualities. The staff is also extremely thoughtful and courteous. Many trained professionals and other workers showed confidence in dealing with patients and provided a helpful and loving environment. It proves that this facility is very top notch and has done extremely great things in regards to their business. I highly recommend this facility as it fulfills all possible requirements asked of it as well provides a safe and satisfying experience to be in.
